This is my portrait pack. It is not offical, and is meant to only give a vast array of images of a high quality, and easily accessible, to people who are having trouble finding images, or are technologically disabled

I guess what needs to be asked first of all however is this, what makes my pack better then every other persons portrait pack, there are thousands to choose from, some with literally thousands of pictures. The difference is mine are all high quality, and have been personally looked over in depth and edited to go with Dnd Fantasy Standards. There are no night elves here, or pictures with massive watermarks. No nudity either, unless you feel that butts and sideboobs are nudity, in which case stay away, as there are a few.

One pack, archieved with WinRar. Contains portraits and all the jpgs used to create the portraits. Also contains picture pack to allow for easy individual selection of pictures, should you not have a program to open TGA's.

Simply download this file, extract TGA's to Portraits folder using WinRar.
http://www.mediafire.com/?miymttnljye

Update:

- Fixed pictures for medium potraits, some where stretching pretty bad.

- Removed one portrait for personal use on one of my characters, yes it was a good one but dammit I did the work so I get a reward.

- Changed method of downloading, used 7zip. Photobucket screwed up my plan, so I had to change the method.

- Fixed Small Portraits and Tiny Portraits. Now they should match to the huge, large and medium portraits. Couple of portraits got missed.

- Added missing portraits.

- Added all small & tiny portraits to download for editing purposes.

- Final count, 142 portraits.

As usual, if anyone finds bugs, please let me know.

Not everyone will see your character's portrait, if you want this go here and follow instructions.

I forget how but there used to be an algorithm you could set up to automatically resize, convert, etc all the pictures you want in Photoshop with just a few clicks.

It's worth looking into when you're dealing with a workload this big. *nodnod*

Also: Wow that's a lot of naked women.

Pfft, they aren't naked. They are all of a M rating. Bellies, arms, side boob and occasionally butt. But nothing beyond that. I censored anything that showed more, and that was only on a couple of the images. The images are chosen for how good they look, not the bare nudity. Anything that doesn't have a lot of clothes on is generally in context with the scene, or the type of race they are. For example, fey don't wear a lot of clothing.

As for the suggestion, yes that was the plan. Even so, some of those watermarks are hell to remove. I do my edits professionally and don't use airbrush, or blurring or such. Makes it look more authentic.

Removing watermarks. You mean, like, removing the thing that artists put on their work specifically so people like you can't take it, work on it, and say it's theirs?

That's the reason why I asked every artist when I made my own, tiny, portrait pack *sagenod*

And well, I don't think Selvac claims its his. He merely removed the watermark because it might be ugly. *Shrug* Still, not the proper way to do it.

Oversized boots, tribal warpaint, wild hair.. and a massive sword!

Yea, I'm not happy I have to remove the artists stuff. But most of the images either didn't have anything to begin with, or had a nice little signiature in the corner, then had been blasted by some companies gigantic obnoxious watermark over a good percentage of the picture. You can even see the artists didn't do the watermark as the quality of the pixels around that area is sub standard. It's all big buisness, and not the artist. Some dickhead in the law area of a buisness plastering text over the picture in paint or something.

I'm not claiming they are mine, I would never, and I'm leaving the signatures on the pictures. However, getting permission from these artists isn't going to happen, as most of them are published professionals, and simply don't answer every email that comes their way. As I said, I am leaving the signatures on the pictures that are part of the original pictures. These watermarks are not part of the original picture, and have not been put on by the artists, but rather by the companies that have purchased the rights to them to stop people from selling the images.

Also I can assure you that most of the portraits in use on NWN by the community, and Amian players, are altered images of pictures that had labels or watermarks on them, and now no longer do.

What? Soft porn..*blink* Um, no. I think you have the definition of soft porn wrong. Most of those are of the standard used by some cartoons. Hell you see a lot of what you see in those pictures in the simpsons, or spongebob. Softporn, I think not. Now some of the images I could have gathered probably were soft porn, I didn't gather them for that reason.

Ok. I wont go so far as to calling it pornography, but some of those photos, you -have- to admit, are pretty raunchy. Positions that are obscene (By definition, incites lust. At least thats the excuse and definition the US uses to define vulgar language..)

I -really- like some of the more modest photos though. The woman with the dove, the simple woman in blue. Some really good stuff.

I also loved looking through them and shooting characters at them, "Oh, wow. This is how I always imagined (Blank) to look." It was good fun.

Though.... there were quite a few Xavieras..

The majority of the pics are pretty decent, maybe some players here need to lay off the porn sites?

But, yes, a few of them are raunchy, but not most of them as some have stated. Also, a portrait is usually centered around a face, not the surroundings (and leering ogres:one of the pics has that anyways :P )

Pretty much it's a 'if you want it get it, if you don't want it don't get it' type of situation.

Actually the fey pictures where one of the main reasons behind my making the pack, that and the devil-kin pictures. There is an unfortunate lack of such pictures that aren't default NWN. I even found a dryad. The little "James Ryman" will be staying on that picture, it's not obnoxious and looks rather nice actually.

Edit: I've actually started going back through the pictures I've done and placing the appropriate signatures from other pitcures, where the signiatures are not obnoxious and rather nice, on the ones that lack them. This way the artist stills get's his/her recognition, while the picture remains nice and portrait like.

I'm not adding the buisness logo's and website addresses that buisnesses have plastered on the pictures however. I have little to no respect for big buisness and I refuse to put the large amount of effort needed to do these things into making it known the picture belongs to them. Screw big buisness. *Flips the bird*

In defence of the "Because they fight half naked", well most of the ones that are half naked are not human. They are dragon kin, or feys, or dryads or angels. Beings that probably have little use for clothing anyway, and rely on lowering an enemies defence. The humans that are dressed scantly are magic users, sorceresses, which are notrious for being seductive beings who use their looks and magic to get what they want. The others are barbarian types, and the one or to fighters probably just dress that way because the majority of heavy armor is designed for the male form, not the female form, making such armor rather expensive.
Of course the number 1 defense of all is, it's the fantasy genre. If I want to take down a dragon in my underwear is theoritcally possible.

@Mago: Yea I put that in for a laugh. I imagine it's useful if you play an angel with a bad streak, or a demon with a groping disorder.

Edit Edit: If anyone finds any high quality pictures that are a decent size, but are only marred by a watermark then let me know. I just noticed that a few of those photo's are possibly not going to make it into the pack due to the artist selling it to one of those stupid "Buy it from here" photo sites that plasted a logo over the entire middle of the picture. May simply cover to much to edit without ruining the picture.

and I'm making them into actual TGA's to. Those are just the previews. So all you need to do is download and dump in your portrait folder once I have it uploaded.

Mjaaaeeeehh.... I do think it's better to have BlackDaliah's version of the Update, Mostly because the Player himself gets responsible of the Portrait they send in to her for uploading.

You could get into trouble this way :S

What? I'm not updating these as anything offical. This is just so people can pick and choose what they want. It's why I set up the photobucket albulm. The photobucket albulm uses the same usernames as the pictures. I'll be uploading a pack, as well as individual portrait zips. So they can be picked out via the photobucket account, and saved at will via a mediafire account. They use a Sel_ at the front to show that it's mine, and if people decide to take the images and modifiy them, thats great.

This is not offical, this is just an option so people can pick portraits for characters, then submit it to dahlya's offical pack if they want.

Edit: There we go, I just put a little thing explaining it so future people don't get confused. This was just me being helpful. Occasionally I can be nice. I just finished the Huge files, and now that I have photoshop sorted, I'll be finishing the rest tomorrow. Link will be up then, and the entire first post will be rewritten.

Why the hell is it that nothing can ever be easy? I just finished three days of bloody work, and now NWN is showing up half the portraits as white boxes. I have no idea why, and it's pissing me off, I hate bloody NWN sometimes. All the sizes are the same, the file types are the same, they aren't compressed and it's 24 bit, tried without capitals yet it still screws up.

Why the hell can't bioware just make a system that doesn't screw SOMETHING up...*Fumes*

I have to rename most of my pictures now, again. Bloody hell...

just make the .jpgs in right size and run a photoshop macro on them to save the .tga files?

check the one item you are recording it from and if that one works they should all work.

Alternatively and (should be) failproof: let nwn compile the images from the .jpgs.
Put all images in portraits folder.
Go windowed and launch a module.
Copy the below line (not 100% sure if it's correct syntax, check it in console first, using the ~ ) and type the name of the portrait you wanna do behind it (no .jpg needed)
## ConvertPortrait

Doing it with copy paste in nwn-chat will be fastest way I think (rather then the nwn console) if the photoshop batches don't work.

if off just slightly on the sizing it will come up white or black on the full size.

No, it was that apperently you can't use more then a certain number of characters in the name, otherwise NWN refuses to read it. So I'm renaming everything and trying again.

I used a photoshop action script. Basically I resized one image by manual, photoshop recorded my exact actions, and repeats it for every image in a folder. So the sizes are spot on, no issues there, the compression is fine to.

Redownload, and unzip with 7zip.

Yea, I tested the stuff and it worked fine. If you still have issues after redownloading do tell, as I've heard of files corrupting on upload. So I may just have to reupload it.

I'll test download the thing myself however.

I hate zip programs...
Reuploading.

Edit: Fixed it.
http://www.mediafire.com/?miymttnljye

Tested it, works fine now. Must have been archiving two archieves that did it. Also used WinRar so it's a .Rar file now. Seem's to be a more stable file format and actually compressed better then 7zip in this case.
