First off a small problem. My guy Daniel just got Fallen status as his RP requires. Now I know that it's suppose to keep him from casting spells but it has a rather annoying side effect.
Every time he loads to a new map the Fallen tool activates and knocks him our of stealth. Is the tool /suppose/ to play havoc is non deity abilities like this?
Second Maias gave me a bit of info and the PHB and DMG are okay but I'd like some input on being Fallen itself from anyone willing. Just a general run down of the concept and ways it tends to be removed for RP inspiration

Pretty much you were naughty, your deity now hates you and you're in a world of hurt.

I think there was a similar problem some time ago.
Better talk about that with a DM, I am sure the widget should not do that but it does for whatever reason.

Yes there was a topic about it, and it's not supposed to knock you out of stealth, but does so anyway.

The quick answer:
You activate it like a magic item every transition to keep it's effect going. Thats why. You do a "talk" action with it I believe (since the icon flashes so fast I've never caught it!)
----
Addressing Fallen:
Case-by-case. But ask...
1) Why is the PC Fallen?
2) What does the PC feel about it? Betrayal? Hurt? Confusion? Determination?
3) Is you character aware of what they may have done that would cause this? (They obviously don't know what DM's are thinking, but you and your PC clearly have an idea as the DM's generally say something about why the Fall is given)
4) What is good do to in your characters faith? Does that conflict or agree with what your character thinks to do?
Screenshots. DM witnessing. Anything you think is your character working to be redeemed. There are some things like "attonement", if that's appropriate, and getting a PC who will perform that prayer for you- DM witness for sure in that sense.

I think the problem is that he fully intends to be Fallen in his RP, but it has some mechanical side effects due to the engine which shouldn't happen in character.
Fallen status should prevent most of a divine class' abilities from functioning, particularly spellcasting, for example.
It seems to be that a mechanical problem involved in the Fallen process makes the status interfere with non divine classes, too.

Actually no. I'm as surprised as heck that he's Fallen and plan to fix it as soon as I can. Torzeng's got the good questions Daniel should be asking himself so far. Did even consider those till you brought them up. Thanks
As to losing my stealth on each map cause the fallen tool is a talk dialogue *gets on his knees to Disco and Terra* please please please fix that. Hiding from the Church of Bane is really hard when you're being knocked into sight every time you use a transition

*coughs* Convert to a more forgiving god!
Aside from that, the atonement spell works for both converting to a more forgiving god, or for going back to Bane.
However... most clerics would likely cast a Quest spell on you first, especially Banites. There's also the convincing the cleric problem, too.

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/geasQuest.htm
Edit: That's providing they're allowed. Getting a cleric to not kill you on site, then getting him to give you a quest for absolution is likely the hard part. Then the quest. Hmm.

Fallen Status does prevent any form of spellcasting.
And you get shot with lightning if you try!
It also is scriped for a lot of feats too. Examples being:
Divine Shield Gives you mod penalties if you use it while Fallen.
Turn Undead, while fallen, turns you! For a long fricken time!
Lay on Hands shoots you for the damage equal to what you would normally heal!
Yeah.
Fallen bites you so you /really/ know you are.
Geas/Quest doesn't sound like "I'm redeeming" so much as "I'm being forced to redeem". DM's call of course. And PnP so all parties have to agree to it.
Plus, the PC in question is a divine caster, but Ranger by so, not cleric. If that helps at all.

I hated the 'twitch' between transitions and the 15lb weight was a bit much. I guess the twitching and dropping out of stealth is an unwanted by product of the script kicking in?
Frustrating but sadly nothing that can be done about it for now, perhaps though a scripter can look into it and see what can be done about it?
Hope you get redeemed soon, mate

Fallen Status = Inexplicable Jitters that can only be cured by Divine intervention!

There's another problem I'll warn you of now so you don't get it by accident; Items. Some items with divine spells on them will get you smote.
It can be really had to explain sometimes why using Gust of Wind off your necklace or chugging a greater bull's strength potion gets you hit so.. be-prewarned
