Since it's the season to be giving, I just wished to make sure that if you get an extra bit of spending money due to holidays and you're in the mood to be giving with it, seems like Amia's gonna need it. This isn't something we can expect Mags to cover while he's off work, or should expect anyone else to 'cover' at all. Times are tough all over the world and I understand that but try to be giving if you can afford it, please don't feel bad if you can not though.
I dunno if this is out of line, but I wanted to draw attention to it anyway. Mag's first post in that thread covers the information needed on how to help if you can.
Give the gift of Amia for you and others this year.

Yup. According the the banner, "9 subscribers pay 100% of the monthly bill". From his post I infer that as of January, that'll be "9 subscribers pay 50% of the monthly bill". So we'll need 9 more people to step up to the plate.

I know I'll help out.
Ever dollar will count.
I have a few I can give.
And I know I'm giving it to something I enjoy.
But also passing on that gift of the fact somebody else has been helping keep up Amia for me and others.
Yup... Not using my spending money on collage shirts/caps/ect crap anyways; so I'll put it someplace worth it!

I guess she was more referring to "don't feel bad if you can't."
I'm not comfortable with PayPal, but if anyone I personally know intends to donate, I could make a bank transfer to their account.

Yes, , I mean the don't feel bad part. Its not intended as a guilt trip.
Also:
I believe in Europe Paypal is forced to be an actual bank. In the USA banks must have some very specific protections for its consumers, I do not know about the EU.
We really should try to get Mags to try out Google Checkout as an alternative option as well.

I thought I had asked this, but does Paypal charge fees for currency conversion (e.g. AUD -> USD)?

No, it automatically and internally converts between USD and any other currency. The only fees are applied to purchases, but you will be sending donations to the server as "Gifts", so no fees will be charged. It even has a very frequently updated currency converter built in to keep track of how muc hAUD is vs USD, for example.

No job, so I have no money for myself, let alone others. If I had an income, I'd have no issues paying $10 a month.

They've actually been accused, many times, of screwing people out of money and mishandling personal information. I don't blame people for finding it shady. I myself am extremely cautious in the hand full of times I've used them. If I can help it, I don't use them.

I must admit I am not very comfortable about paypall either, I don't really want my financial information floating around on the internet, it belongs in my bank and thats it.

Never had an issue with Paypal. Simply don't store your money in a paypal account. Use a debit card and pay through paypal. It's safer and they can't take money as it would be to obvious.

Highly illegal.
In the USA fraudulent charges even from a Bank account with a Debit card can be reversed.
In Europe, Paypal is a BANK, a money institution. We have strong laws which determine what kind of behaviour our banks have. I do not know about EU exactly. I would assume that you would have equal or greater protections in place for bank behaviour.

By the way, I've used Paypal on both ends to buy and to sell stuff. Never had a problem with em.
Also: Making a bank account strictly for using with Onlinestuff/Paypal is pretty easy and wise. Just open an account at a bank, they have a lot of bank accounts that have only requirement of having 1 dollar in them to keep them open here in the USA at virtually every bank. When you want to buy something via paypal, send the cash from your primary bank account via a account->account transfer, which is usually 100% free at most banks to send it to yourself, and then use paypal. These things have gotten so easy a couple phonecalls, is all it takes. You don't even need to go to a bank in person.
I treat every other online purchase in the same manner. Its an amazing insulation from fraud damages.
Also if it does get fraudulently charged and goes negative, You can bet your bottom dollar that the Bank will do all types of circus tricks to save themselves THEIR money. They don't care so much about yours.

Paypal is okay, I guess. But I can't say I much like paying a recurring suscription when I can see when I next need to make a payment and can pay manually if I want to.
I would have to clear some of my credit card before I think about sending in a donation so, March at the earliest.

I must say I'm the same - I'd rather do it manually than automatically. That's the great thing about the One-Time Donation button, and you can use it more than once (despite the name).

I think everyone got that when you said it the first time, but they'd still like to donate. Reiterating your point doesn't seem to be doing much besides attempting to dissuade people from donating.

Please don't take your personal interpretation of this and make it public.
My comment has absolutely nothing to do with disuading anyone to donate. I didn't see any DM come in and start commenting on people saying the same thing about paypal more than once.
I happen to be =one= of those donators, and have been for years. My point was to let people know they -can- donate, and it won't just one day disappear because 1 person got layed off.
Don't shoot the message for the messenger.

Please!
Some two or so years ago when I wanted to donate, I remember having issues with PayPal. I don't remember if the site was wonky or if there was no way to do it without a credit card and I mentioned that in some thread that came up that time telling about the donations.
I remember that I got a PM from you Disco, with the same suggestion from Belgian, but I never heard back again. =(
Or perhaps I did, but my memory sucks. I don't remember if you ever PMed me back again back then. I just remember I did not make a donation yet.
EDIT: If that does not work, I might be able to get an international credit card around May. Then, I can start donating and it will be monthly.

I don't usually do preauthorized payment for major things, but for $5 a month I don't mind it.

It's not Paypal that I'm worried about, so much as the buggy scheduled payment system that Codemasters are running for LOTRO (for which Paypal is a payment option). After having to put up with that for months I thought 'bugger this' and decided manual payment would be way less hassle.

Anyway, Magnumman is a bit incommunicado. Trying to figure out a handy way to transfer money but without him it's kinda hard. Stay tuned.

The subscriber buttons at the top have been updated.
We'll need 20 total subscribers to cover the new monthly costs for reference sake.

That is worrying, considering an apparent decline in player numbers.

Still have no constant income so I can't make any dedicated payments. If I get some money in the bank I may be able to do a one-time donation when I can however.

I made an account at PayPal just now, to see if there was a way I could subscribe for Amia's Monthly Donation.
I registered my bank account (I am freaking out something could go wrong if I happen to have some hidden virus >.<), since I do not have a credit card, but I could still not confirm the donation because my ~debit~ card is so old, it does not have a security code (or whatever is the name of those three numbers at the back of your card).
This will have to wait until I get a new debit card. I will go to the bank this monday to see if I can get a new one ASAP. Then, when I have a new debit card, I will test again if I can subscribe. Failing that, I will have to make a credit card, but not until around May.
