I was just wondering what happend to the great factions of khol, I remember back in the day the defenders being a force to be reckoned with. A few years later the Triadic knights where formed, and now well we dont see to have anything.

Come on goodies make use of that big bastion of yours us evil guys need some big force of good to RP with.

Ah... Kohl... how I remember taking down most of the city's guards with two other people, getting to the temple of Triad's light and got destroyed by a Prismatic Dragon...

Anyway, I seem Triadic knights in Cordor all the time... but never in Kohl.

Whatsupwiththat?

Probably the same that happened to the people of Winya, once upon a time.

a few people log in from time to time, hang around Winya, in hope of finding someone for hours.. then get bored and stop trying.

I imagine the same thing happened to Kohligen. Standing around for hours, and waiting for someone to come along to your little piece of paradise is no fun.

Maybe you're just too different on playing hours via timezones...

I've seen Kohligen swarmed with Tradics and Dawnguard for the last month, at the right times, because there is activity with those factions. Defends seems like a historical group now.

The Triadic Knights aren't around in as large numbers as they were a few months ago, true, but they're still around quiet a bit. From what I've seen. If you really look at things, a lot of niche player bases have taken a hit during the last few months.

The Defenders have been disbanded since it was a pain in the arse to lead two faction there where one is not even active. We have decided to make two new factions next to the TKs to bring some more color there and to avoid the Kohlingenisleadedbyonefaction standard Amian conspiracy theory.

About the reduced activity:
- real life is cruel
- it's Christmas
- exams or finals

It was actually an unnamed dragon that attacked us :3, this was about 2 years ago mind you.

Kohl is still active, but I wish it would be more active, like it used to be I guess.

I've always imagined/wanted Kohlingen to Amia's version of the Vatican. Sadly, I am always told it's a young and unassuming city in that respect. One of my Kohlingenians even tried to make a beautification effort... but there was a lack of interest it seemed. C'est la vie.

While we're on the subject of Kohl, can anyone tell me why there's still an eternally full mansion of undead not even a 5 minutes IC walk from the city? Story reasons? Lack of PC/NPC interest in thoroughly cleansing the joint? You'd think they would have "solved" that problem by now, being the "City of Paladins" and whatnot... >_>

It's not the quest that's weird. I'm fine with that...

It's just that you can pretty much look up the hill from Kohl and see an army of undead. Perphaps they could be "chased away" to hold up in another spot. Still have the quest, just not ignore th fact that I think having such a persistant problem so close to a Good aligned city should constitute perpetual war until the threat was ended.

Unless Kohl's people have made given up the cause... in which case I strip them of their Zealously Badges. Deus vult! Gloriam Perpetua!

Yeah, I suppose... but I meant like an organized effort. Like with the Flight.

Amiawiki's down, so I can't check, but didn't Kohl organize a march on Wyrmhold back in the day? Instead of delcaring shenanigans on something half a day's march from you, seems like you would get your own house in order first. And if adventurering party #999 has failed to get lasting results, maybe it's time to step up the gameplan. Maybe not erradicate all of them and thereby the quest, but at least where Kohl's own citizens don't have zombies breathing down their necks in the dining rooms.

Sorry, I know it's something to be moved IC if anything, but since it's a quest that's open to the whole server pretty much, good to know if it's going to be a case of Resistable Force meets Immovable Object.

When is Kohl busiest? I mean, with people out in the streets. Xavi supposedly lives there, but every time I go there's nobody around. So I generally don't.

Yep. That's the instance. :D Shoulda figured it'd be on the forums somewhere.

I understand having a constant threat as basis for some quests. Like the kobold and orc quest. But in both of those cases the thing being threated and the threat are geographically separated a bit more than Khol's. And religion is less involved.

Bah, I realize I'm likely one of the few unsettled by it, probably making something outta nothing. Nice thing to work towards IC, but if anything happened, they'd just get moved a screen over, making little difference to anything. >_<

They sound a siren whenever they see Xavi coming and they hide. You know, so no one will catch her lasciviousness. If she would just wear that bright red letter "A" we gave here, she wouldn't have this problem.

In all seriousness, Kohl is randomly active dependant on whoever's on, from what I've seen. Usually Lutra and maybe a few more outside of the temple or some random folk. In any case, if you're in Kohl and there's more than 3 people there, and at least one of them isn't a Palemaster metagaming the guards, count yourself lucky.

Well, when I was playing we had loads of RP going on in Kohl. Actually, every time I login Yaston is involved in some thing that brings several hours of RP to my characters and in Kohl. Usually the temple and the Keep.

So, I would think it is still there, maybe on hold or in a slow phase, but definitely there.

And Craig I am sure you would be welcomed to bring RP to them, one thing I know after playing a triadic knight is that they are like hot coal, if you blow it, it will burst in flames.

Because of the perfect mythal quest, it is not something what we can put on our to do list. We usually kill those in an organized way though and building a wall with gate between Kohl West and hte manor is on the todo list, but we will wait till da new year.

when i joined the TKs nearly 5 months ago? i used to see tons of us around. maybe now im just seperating the factiosn more, but it could be that less actual good guys are around. and i know that the majority of the player base is made of EVIL characters... thats all i see now is evil hoards and the two or three TKs or dawnguards.
i know that whenever i log in i look at the player list first and check if theres any TKs on to RP with, because being lvl 30 means i either RP or get bored. sometimes ill go in alone and patroll the roads. its dangerous but can lead to some good rp... once in a great while. usually, if theres no other TKs on, i just grab my other character to lvl with him or rp, because he can RP with random strangers just as good as my TK can with his own faction.
when are we most active? id say a few days out of the week ill see maybe 2-5 of us around. and a lot of the time im in cordor because when your the only guy in kohl... life gets a little lonely.

Odd question, but has it ever been thought to "expand" Kohl to show where the nobility or uppoer class there live?

To be considered a major settlement, it is kinda small when you compare to other large players in the political games. Ultrinaan has their residential section, Cordor is freakin huge but I guess West Cordor would be more affluent, Winya's fairly large from what I remember as is the Grove.

Kohl is the main, then like farms. (Not counting the Castle because you have to be factioned to get in). I'm thinking just add something like the Blacklake Disctrict from the OC. I think as well Kohl has a large enough population to warrent it being larger than just what we see. Wiki's down, so I can't check population, but isn't it just slightly smaller than Cordor?

Kohlingen has a nobility, there are a few fancy house. Even a lot of Cordorian noble moved there and living there nowadays.

Kohlingen was founded as a small outpust and as a fortress city it is still much smaller then Cordor. I dun think that it should be expanded.

Whoa, put that thought on ice. Ever thought of the consequences of forcing the undead further from Kohl? They'd be closer to Bendir Dale, and Cheny likes the undead less than he does rotten fruit (it makes juicing smelly work). If Cheny wakes up one day and finds undead bursting out of his hin-sized wardrobe via an escape tunnel they've excavated all the way from the Manor, he'll storm down to Kohl and submit a strongly worded letter to the authorities.

Though, having an enraged hin flailing around Kohl might bring in the crowds needed to liven up the city...

Kohlingen doesn't need expanding. If anything, the city could be reduced in size, because it's always been bigger than the amount of activity and factions it has represented.

Everything I've suggested I've tried IC, both the "extermination" of the manor and the expansion/beautification of Kohl. If anything I've made people more aware of it.

You mean just like Wharftown, Uhm, and Brog? If we did that, we'd have just have the Castle and nothing else in Kohl. I'm just thinking having even just a smaller offshoot where we could see the "noble" estates and possibly have a place for snooting paladins to live, possibly through some more PC housing.

Wharftown, Uhm and Brog are tiny compared to Kohlingen.

Only if Cordor get's shrunk down to Corder East and South.

I can accept that expanding something without the RP going on there yet might not be the best idea. But boiling down places to just where people usually go and hang out doesn't really help anything except a false feeling of being "efficient". I'm not even gonna bother to take that to the hyperbole I could.

Instead of getting into this big debate of my idealism vs. the state(for what must be the Nth time), how about we come up with some ideas to increase RP there? You know, actually doing something. I've tried the beautifcation effort and even speaking for the cleasning of the Manor IC a few times. People listened IC, but no players seemed interested OoC.

So we got the TK's and the few Defenders that may still straggle in every now and then. What are some ideas?

Start gathering the goodies there, rather than having them linger in Amia Forest, Bendir Dale or Cordor.

Well, technically the good guys are doing their job by patrolling the world and not sitting in their castle doing absolutely nothing to stop the encroaching evil from taking over the world. They are going to the hotspots and doing things and being there. Seems to carry out their gods dogma far better than sitting in a castle.

Mago:

Two of those three are flashpoints and somewhat centralized areas where trouble might occur due to the increased traffic activity.

Admittedly, a better central point in patrols to work off of using that logic might be Kampo's but still. Bendir Dale and the Forest do allow a fair bit of travel reach rather quickly.

In all honesty, removing the portal crystal from Amia Forest might do the module, server, and playerbase good.

So Kohl is empty because the good guys are doing their job... That or just standing in Cordor, making sure nothing happens*.

I still wish there was still some marble city of stateliness Amia's good could go back to. Apparently it's not that important to much if anything gets done. And Kohl has never been, nor likely will ever be such a place, I guess.

Cordor needs heroes more than Kohlingen, really. It's a hive of scum and villainy. In Kohlingen, the good guys have already won. Their job there is done, for the most part.

True, but the local police forces can handle that. Adventurers have better things to do, like proactively going out and rooting out evil. Or killing monsters and taking their stuff.
