I need a break, and I need it now. I haven't been enjoying doing stuff for Amia for weeks and if I continue like this I will be permanently gone very soon. I am really sorry for all the open ends but ... well, it's this or that.
Part of this is caused by my official job taking lots of time and effort lately, but I am also tired of all the bickering, negotiating, and mediating that seems to come with the dev stuff lately. The defeatist attitude displayed by many people here, staff and players alike, doesn't help either. Where's the time that people said they played here because it was the best server? Don't you have any good spirits left? It's just depressing to read this thread, you know.
Anyway, uploaded my update and now I am off for the rest of the week, and probably month.

This man has provided Amia weekly, sometimes daily updates non-stop for the past 3 years as the lead developer and before that in the dev team, putting aside a significant amount of hours to give us unique and exceptional expansions to the game. DM event changes, factional areas, DC requests, DM tools and things we couldn't imagine possible in NWN.
I hope everyone understands this need to take a break. Second in over three years, mind. Not a lot asked for.

Anyone disapproving of this, will get my personal stamp of "douche" on him/her.
Get the hell better, Chicky, your work here has never been anything but absolutely admirable, and if anyone deserves a rest, it's you.
But stay out of the sauna if you go to Finland! Unless you get to unwrap...*Wiggles brows*...Your gift in there. (Remember to get it out in a hurry if it's something with wiring, though.)
Enjoy.

Half the DM team is unavailable anyway, so it's not like the few of them can cause too much trouble in the meantime.

Take over what, exactly? Scripting? Why would I want to do that? I am the woman here, so by definition I am the one in charge.

Have a good one dude. Amia can get tedious, espically when you've been around as long as you have you old fart.

Developing the module is like making the stage, and lighting, and scenery for a play. If pulled off well no body notices it, and the actors get all the credit of how awesome the play was. If it messes up, boy do you hear about it. Even if someone has issue with the scenery on an artistic point of view, you hear about it in the critic section. This is what I reckon your job is like Disco.
The module is a labor of love, and the effort you put into it is appreciated, by me at least.
People only bitch about their car when things break, not when they're running smoothly, I reckon they don't praise it the other 100,000 miles things went perfectly fine. And I also reckon that the thread in particular is one of those precise moments realized for you.
I wouldn't take that topic as anything against you, or as an insult to your work. I don't think it means people not beliving the work you do is worthwhile, and I implore you not to do so either. It's more of a case of 'Ignoring the man behind the curtain', like in the wizard of oz.
You are after all the holder of several Mister Amia titles. Take heart, take a break, and enjoy yourself.. this time of year sucks.

well if tormak wanted to beat him could he not just just spam posts and delete them, or would that also kick away at his total?

No need for a "sorry folks"
You owe us nothing, definately not an appology.
Rather the other way around, we should be sorry for all the bickering and seemingly ungrateful attitude we seem to display.
So, sorry Disco, for being a spoiled brat, but thanks for spoiling me anyways

I am of course delighted by all the positive comments. Thank you so much. However, I urge you all to have a look at the reasons behind my current state.
I don't mind to work hard, and if things go bleak I simply work harder. I can't work much harder now, though, and things just get bleaker. It feels like I am patching a hole in a ship and for every hole I patch two new holes appear.
I know, it's an old game blah blah blah, but other servers using the same old game do have some fire left in their community. I get the feeling that Amia just sits on her old arse, watches the world move on in mild amazement, and hopes her own situation will stay exactly as it was.
And I am sorry for this, not for bugs and stuff, but for people waiting on their faction areas. That bothers me, but I am not going to start the Toolset, and I doubt I'll even switch on the computer at home.

The change that is needed is the kind of change that comes from the community. It's the kind of change that has been called out for many times. It doesn't come from the DMs or a few players, it comes from everyone on Amia. If we want it to happen, that is.
