I'm just curious. Can a weapon visual effect be removed from PC's weapon somehow in-game without a DM? Or does it require a DM attention? I'm asking this for I've always found those SFX more proper for manga setting than DnD one and seeing it every time on my char makes me feel uncomfortable.

Only if it's been added as an item property, in which case you can use the mythal crafting system to remove it.

If it's a visual from a certain damage type (1d6 acid = green visual), then you'd have to remove the damage property to get rid of the visual.

Not a good news I suppose for it makes me to stick with this awful effect. Or does it? Maybe I can override it somehow so I don't see it anymore?

Pardon my ignorance but what is this "BoT"?

The Book of Transmutation (BoT) is an item dropped as loot by low level creatures. It allows, with the addition of BoT pages, alteration of the properties of many spells, both arcane and divine. One of the more used is one for the flame wepon spell which allows the damage type to be changed from fire to acid or electrical damage.

Look in the sidebar at the spells, there are notes indicating which ones have associated BoT pages.

Thanks for the info but I'm a melee character. So I don't think the Book of Transmutation would be of any use for me. That is if it doesn't modify spell scrolls.

Well, when you're trying to explain that the acid dripping off your sword isn't hurting anything because there ius no acid dripping off your sword, but 20 other people see acid dripping off your sword, there may be issues.

Yeah but right now, when I know that the visual effect cannot be removed from a weapon by normal, ingame means, I'm just looking for the way of preventing NWN from manifesting it to me, not the other players. I just want to get rid of -all- weapon effects on my local client unit for I find them to cartoony.

I kinda know how you feel there. I prefer the appearance without the energy. And thankfully my weapon has no such appearance on it because it lacks elemental power. But yeah I know how you feel because that annoys me to no end sometimes as it can hide or ruin good base weapon appearances behind unnecessary glowiness.
