Attention Residents of Bendir Dale:

Feel the urge to defend the Dale and its inhabitants from those who would do harm? The Bendir Dale Militia is now looking for new members to add to the ranks.

We take all disciplines: strong fighters, stealthy folk, casters, healers, and even non-combat positions if you just want to help out, but have no other experience.

If you want to add your name to the Roster, speak with Captain Swift or send in an application to her office in the Town Hall. You will be tested on the skills you know, the skills you don't know, and on hin lore.

If you have questions, feel free to ask any current member of the militia for information or send a note to Captain Swift.

There was an encounter recently where a young human girl came into the Dale screaming about her family being killed by her younger brother who was raising skeletons at the Sandy Beach. Myself, Lyle, and Veliare went to investigate while Brena took the girl in to look after her. When we got to the beach, it was swarming with skeletons and we found one of her brothers lying dead.

We were unable to raise the boy and so Lyle prepared him to be buried and seemed to put him in a bag of holding. We continued on further into the beach where we found the girls father turned into some sort of zombie as well as more skeletons. Eventually we found a young boy who created a wraith. To detain him without killing him, I turned him to stone while we dealt with the skeletons and wraith.

The boy was holding onto an obsidian cup and after we tied him to a tree and used a scroll of stone to flesh on him Veliare grabbed the cup. She said it felt cold in her hands but she was able to control whatever evil was present in the cup. We noticed that the boy was pale and that his skin was beginning to rot and he was berating us. We had no choice but to kill him since he was undead.

Finally we took the bodies of the undead boy, the simply dead boy, the father and the cup all to the temple of Selune. The priestess there is going to deal with disposing of the bodies, but couldn't figure out anything about the cup so she gave the cup back to Veliare. We then all portaled back to Bendir Dale where Veliare put the cup in a safe place.

Eldon is going to speak with the girl and tell her that her family is dead and offer her the privilege of living in Bendir Dale as opposed to going to the Cordor orphanage.

*Brena looks over the report with a sigh, pulling out some parchment and her own enchanted quill from a bag of holding on her belt, adding a note*

Unfortunetly, the cause of the terrible incedent is going to be difficult to reveal. It may have been drow who placed the cup on the beach to cause mayhem on the surface. However, the cup could very well be an older artifact washed onto the beach or uncovered from the sands after being hidden for untold years. I will study it if needed, but I also suggest that it be sent Mystra's Monolith or Kohlingen to either be sealed away or destroyed all together. The hin are good natured...but they can also be overly curious. Leaving the cup in the Dale could prove disastrous.

To those concerned,

The clergy of the Lord of The Dead, Kelemvor, and The Lord of the End of Everything, Jergal, wish to speak to whoever holds this cup and those who have seen it at work. As is well know, we of the faiths of the Masters of Death are against the use of such dark items and do everything we can to destroy or contain such artifacts. I will return to the Dale within the day, and the next day if need be, so that we can speak. The Cathedral of the Martyr-Saint in Nes'ek is well prepared to take on the burden of destroying or containing this cup. Please consider this so that this cup does not fall in to the wrong hands.

Outside the main walls of the Dale, just to one side of where the river cascades down the hill in its magnificent waterfall sits one of the entrances into the network of houses beneath the hill. Outside the main door a figure can be regularly seen sitting with a bow across her legs and staring into the depths of the fire with a contented smile on her face. Lain beside her the black bulk of a jungle panther, snoozing happily as often as not. Belladonna is home...

Despite his physical shortcomings, Lyle still manages to work a spring into his step shortly after Bella's arrival.

Captain Swift has decided that the skills and abilities of the members of the Bendir Dale Militia should be tested on a regular basis. One of the methods of said tests will include scheduled runs through hostile areas to observe militia members' skills in combat as well as teamwork and leadership. List your name, rank, and proficiencies in the space below, as well as the times ((OOC times)) you'd be available to take part in the training.

A pair of figures are seen to leave the Dale early one morning, they leave through the north draw gates and into the forests. Bella trailing behind the man in white as if she were being guided along.

Bella is not seen for the remainder of the day as she seems preoccupied elsewhere.

I am looking to undergo what amounts to a pedagogical adventure! From what I've been told, there is no teacher running the classroom inside this here windmill; thus, I have taken it upon myself to serve as an educator, both for the wee ones and for the citizenry of Bendir Dale at large.

For the small ones, I shall be teaching them the three R's; continuing education will be offered in the form of classes on various subjects, materials, errata, et cetera. Primarily, I am a mathematician and a linguist, but I am willing to teach about whatever topic seems to be of interest or of concern; however, I need to know what sort of subjects the general population is interested in learning about!

If there is a subject that interests you that you don't know fully about, write it down beneath this notice, and I'll see what is most popular and thus most likely to draw a crowd.

Despite my position as non-combat, I have been having the occasional bouts of target practice with my sling. If this is a controlled training course rather than an adventuring expedition against live targets, I would be happy to attend.

Good folk of Bendir Dale,

I am a priest of Oghma who hails from Cormyr and now resides on Khem. I have heard of your wonderful education program, and it has touched my heart.

It is both my god-given duty and personal pleasure to volunteer as a teacher in your school. Whenever you find a suitable time, I shall be happy to come lecture on a variety of subjects to the folk of Bendir. My field of expertise lies in history, geography and folklore, but I can also hold introductory courses in traditional bardcraft, theology, rhetorics and philosophy, to name a few subjects. I am also an accomplished scribe, should the knowledge of one such be required.

I have introduced myself to your mayor, and I hope to work with the local teachers to organize my visits in collaboration with other lecturers. You may contact me at Seeker's Spring - the chapel of Oghma in Nes'ek - or in the Triumvir. Letters left in Cordor library should reach me quickly, too.

A certain Hin was seen walking in to the Dale with two Dire Wolves dressed in rags. She had a large knot on the right side of her head and seemed rather moody and dazed. She refuses any help offered to her and seems to disappear with the wolves all the time, only to emerge again later, still looking dazed.

Bella, never one to miss anything out of the ordinary sets Sasha's nose t the ground and her own eyes to the trail as she begins to search for the wanderer who he had as yet missed since returning home.

Tracks would lead to the garden near the idol of Sheela Peryroyl, up to the cliff camp sight in the North Western area inside Bendir Dale walls, into the trees and vegetation at the bottom of the ladder to the cliff camp sight, heading random directions and some even seem to suddenly halt with no more scent to follow. The cliff camp sight and an area near barrels next to the idol of Sheela Peryroyl seem to have the strongest scents.

Bella pauses at each of the signs and stops only to scratch at her head. Her hand wandering down to idly pet Sasha as she considers her next move and wether or not to camp out the area.

*As the smoke rises from Amia forest, Brena is quickly moving about the Dale, following Captain Swift's order to keep the inhabitants safe. With the help of Dirk and Jayek, Brena oversees that scarfs are distributed amongst the townsfolk to keep them safe from the fumes of the flames. If there are any shortages, she arranges that bundles of cloth be stripped for use. While keeping an aye on the lands to the north, she also arranges that buckets of water be filled, just in case the flames start to spread or they start up on Dale lands next.*

*Anita comes out of her watery home and joins in, helping give out scarves and cloths and giving advice on how to best avoid lung problem. She also goes among everyone inside, making sure no one is having trouble breathing and using her magic combined with healing salves for those who are. She suggests that the militia take shorter posts than normal to keep the amount of smoke inhaled down.*

*After what seems like hours of endless work, Brena leans back against the well with a sigh, her form covered in a thin layer of ash from her duties. The townspeople are inside, windows to the houses closed, and the militia are equiped to keep themselves safe from the smoke. She looks over the Dale once more to make sure everything is in place before heading into the inn, needing a drink as the Dale waits for the smoke to clear*

Not all of the residents of Bendir Dale were fortunate enough not to get affected by the blanket of ashes and the thick smoke, however. One particular lightfoot by the name of Effelin, who was outside in Bendir Dale around the time the forest fire started, was nearly asphyxiated by the ash and smoke combined and had to be rushed to the temple of Salandra.

He has since returned to Bendir, but it is clear he is still recovering, his chest sore and his body lacking its usual grace. Those who see him in the Hinn Inn grow concerned for their own person as they head outside, adjusting the scarves used to protect hem almost anxiously.

*The smoke finally having cleared, the townspeople move about the Dale with a new task...cleanup. Brena, having awoken from her much needed rest moves amongst the Dale residents, helping them remove any residue left from the smoke while using what medical knowledge she has to make sure they're in good health and not overexerting themselves. Her eyes remain sharp though, looking over the Dale constantly for any signs of trouble that'd take the oppurtunity to arise in the Dale's distracted state*

Anita works alongside Brena, making sure no one was harmed as much as Effelin by the smoke and regularly checking up on him to make sure he's recovering. She offers fresh water regularly to those working clean up and pitches in from time to time when her healing services aren't required.

The Hin once again goes missing, suddenly. Although the reasons are rather clear, to those who know her.

Oye...I seen her that same day *Looks across the bar at Fendel* She were lay'n inter some lout in the wood after the Fire. I don think she saw me...*half grin* none of em did...thought I would sneaky like get near the fellers hired wenches. When they ran off, I followed em to Dico's Crystal in the Dale..where they..er..got friendly wit each other.

I do hope, most earnestly, that this note finds you well in health and faith. My time on the mainland in Luiren has come to a successful and final conclusion. As may be expected by those who know me, I miss Bendir Dale dearly, having spent a significant portion of my life inside her welcoming walls among our blessed people. This missive is sent just ahead of my own self as my return to Bendir, which has never been far from my mind these past years, nears. A simple and honest hope for renewed bonds of friendship, comraderie, cooperation in faith, and sharing life's bounty is my sole reward as my travels bring me ever closer to my beloved Dale. My aim is to find lodging within the Dale and earn my keep aiding the Folk using what meagre skills the Mother has provided upon my humble soul.

If it pleases you and whomever is the current Captain, I would request permission to re-apply for a position within the ranks of the town Militia, assuming the unit remains operational. The position itself and my duties therein being decided and assigned by whomevers authority is in force.

After chatting with Fendel and Jayek he repairs to his room for a good nights sleep after his long journey, with a glass of warm milk in one hand and a smile on his face.

The Dale is working on re-excavating the cave across the river to place homes and meeting places for the residents. The excavating will be done by the dwarves from Barak Runedar and they are looking for materials and gold from us, the citizens of Bendir Dale. We are open to donations and ask that you give any donation you have to Captain Swift or to Private Grindan who is the liaison between Bendir Dale and Barak Runedar. The materials we are specifically looking for are Granite, Oak, and Ironwood.

If there are any questions feel free to send them to Grindan or to Swift.
