First I want to thank all the players that made my time on Amia fun. I had a lot of great role play and met somebody that has become a very important part of my life and will remain in my life long after This server is no more than a memory to it's current players.

I have decided to leave because I feel that the DM's on this server are out to enforce rules against people that are not their friends while they watch their buddies do the exact thing that they scolded another player for only days earlier. I have seen DM's wander into locations on their player characters that the character would have no business being at the time because something was happening that they wanted to be involved in even if it in no way enhanced the role play for the players involved. Last I knew this would be considered metagaming for most players. I know I had been tlked to about it before even when I remained uninvolved until the situation was complete and there were only the few players I was interested in rping with left there.

I have seen some players get away with totally ruining the game for others by griefing and bullying them and get away with it. And when I asked the players that were griefed if they mentioned it to DM's they said yes and the DM didn't feel they were being treated unfairly. Thankfully I am not one that was a target of this but I do feel that I have been griefed by one of the DM's. And No I didn't complain because I feel it would do absolutely no good.

Now that i have stated my opinions and reasons for leaving I suspect that I will see a lot of flaming on this topic by the DM's and their friends if they don't lock or delete it right away.

Thanks again for all of you that made my time on the server enjoyable and those of you that didn't know what you can do.

I expect PMs in my inbox of every situation you claim to have been wronged in. I will get them sorted out. Post haste. Screenshots included.

And because this deserves a separate post: I always want screenshots/written accounts/etc/whatever of all of these times when DMs are metagaming. I do not stand for my DMs abusing their priveleges an I will do something about it if inclement things are happening.

I won't flame, I just want to say I am sorry you feel that way. Sure DM's may make mistakes, but I highly doubt that they would do such a thing as to let their friends break the rules. I've read posts by DM's saying they had to perma-ban good friends/rp'ers of theirs because they decided to do the wrong thing. I have yet to see the DM's pass judgement unfairly, but thats just me. I -have- however heard of DM's who realized they did some sort of thing like that, and apologized formally for it.

Take care out there Beciv, its pretty crazy in that real world. :D

Meh… Such great RP, such great fun, such great plans *sighs* Now what in the world is going to happen to all those bodies we “borrowed” from the graveyards and buried…ah…well you know where. Have you any idea how many rose lily’s you-know-who has in her inventory?!

I have enjoyed every minute of your RP and hate to say it but I’ve experienced some of the same things you mention. :( Why even today I was told “Oh, this was YOU? Good lord. Denied. Absolutely denied.” By a DM. I’m thinking a simple “No.” would have sufficed. I was under the impression that I’m supposed to experience the neutralness of the DM team, oh well.

Gonna miss you terribly.

*hugs and kisses* Fifi

When I say "No." People get pissed. I expounded more. Done insulting me in other topics yet? My MSN is tormaksaber@yahoo.com. Have an issue? Speak to me.

Funny I'm the only one that gets mentioned when it was Ron and Nekhy replying first.

Can I make a suggestion to aggrieved players like beciv and others thinking similar things? I have left servers in the past, thinking similar things. In fact, in hindsight, I should of spoken first and foremost to the Head Admin/DM in those cases to see if we could of resolved the issues first and foremost.

Beciv, before leaving, speak to Tormak. I find he's fair, impartial and above all, not at all biased. I'm sick of seeing people leave this server, when many of their problems could of been solved.

This is unfortunate to hear, but if you do see the posts; go to Tormak. They're serious.

It would be nice to see you remain as a player and get the issues resolved. Amia loves everybody! :D

I'm sorry to see you go, beciv. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to RP with you when you were still playing a good lil' drowsie and not one of those nasty surface drowsies.

Good luck out there in the real world and I know how to find out how you're doing. *insert informed evil laugh here?*

RP servers are largely what ~you~, as a player make of them. Try to get past any DM bullplop - there will always be DM bullplop. Just remember that they're a minoraty on the server, and it's the players that make up the numbers. If one DM in particular has wronged you, don't forget that there are at least eight others out there who'll more than likely be quite happy to give you the explanation you deserve.

I've probably never met your characters in game, but, please re-consider your choice to leave.

DM metagaming incidents should be reported, in my email box for example (don't use PMs, they might get stuck on the way in).

This is what I find a bit strange. We're actually quite strict on not making a public mud throwing contests of things like these and remove bitter "farewell, and fuck you!" posts so we don't get any flaming.

I really get the feeling you (probably plural) are working yourself up over something that doesn't go the way you want it and look for a stick to wag the dog with. I have no clue what happened but I bet it was actually one thing that infuriated you enough to blow up all minor annoyances, compile them into one post, and vent it.

That said, I hope things will be sorted out in a way that's good for all parties involved.

Well, we do remove the "You all suck and can go fuck yourselves, I'm leaving!!!!11" posts...

But I'd prefer these are posted after there's been some attempt at reconciling, for example in the shape of screenshots or perhaps even just a description of what on earth happened so we can understand what the OP is talking about.

I hope you find a plce that'll suit you better elsewhere, but no matter where you go, expect to find one or more DMs that you'll suspect of one thing or another. And remember that that's all you'll have, in most cases. Suspiscions. Shit, if I should talk about my "suspiscions," I'd have half the server and a good few DMs hating on me.

Point is, it's not worth mentioning unless you have actual proof.

G'luck. *Salute and such*

On that note, what exactly is classified as DM metagaming? I rarely see any DMs as is, so I guess I don't really know how DMs are supposed to interact with players.

That said, I don't think I've really had any problems thus far, I'm just interested in knowing what classifies.

The same as for players. When we're off the DM client, our characters are subject to the same limited knowledge as player characters have, and not for example the vast knowledge we use when we DM.

On the client, I "metagame" stuff all the time by checking character sheets and using every bit of knowledge of the module I have, if it's needed for the plot or environment reactions. But DMs are the meta part of the game, anyway, because we are beyond and outside the game world quite literally.

I would just like to point out that usually when this happens, the original poster has attempted to work things and the issue has gone on for so long that they don’t think there is anything that they can do that will solve the problem and it’s just not fun anymore.

I'd like to encourage all to give Beciv the benefit of the doubt. He's not a whiner. And any who mention this only serve to perpuate the problem because it may make others feel if they speak up they'll be picked on too.

Another thing to think about is that perhaps the DM was in game as a character and meta gamed? And seriously, I know in my case I didn't want to be known as the "whinny player who complains about the DM's ruling” Especially when my PM's sent to other DM’s on unrelated subjects get no response. I mean if I don’t get a response about an easy issue then why would I send them PM’s about something more serious. Oh and finally there’s the “You’re a whiner and not rolling with the punches” when you bring up a ruling that you know is unfair.

What is the solution to this? This post – lets others know that if they’ve experienced similar issues they are not alone. I think you should be able to bring your issue up with more than one DM. I know now I should have, but didn’t think that would be received well. DM interest is good too. Kudo’s to Necky and Tormack for stepping up. And it’s always nice to see Disco join in.

DMs are people too. I know, it shocks me too - but it's true. Most of the time. People suck sometimes, whether they mean it or not. But little mistakes shouldn't make people so depressed that they leave the server - I'm not sure we're gettingg (or entitled to) the whole story.

Except that he didn't. We never got any complaint. Trying to ignore things is NOT working on it.

Considering the vague accusations I can't give him much more than that. See above.

Seriously... that's the same as saying that a police officer who waves your parking ticket is also going to look the other way if you shoot somebody in front of him. Little things are easier forgotten.

The phrase to watch here is "you know". I also doubt that you get that answer that often.

Having had beciv as part of my faction for more than a small amount of time, I can say that he's a player that had no problem rolling with the punches. That being said, I seriously doubt that his accusations are unfounded. Perhaps slightly jaded, of course, but none-the-less grounded in a real complaint.

I would have to have friends for them to flame you in retaliation.

God Yossarin. Don't be such a whiny twunt.

You just want my tongue in your cheek instead of mine.

Having had beciv as part of my faction for more than a small amount of time, I can say that he's a player that had no problem rolling with the punches. That being said, I seriously doubt that his accusations are unfounded. Perhaps slightly jaded, of course, but none-the-less grounded in a real complaint.

In a locked topic, but alas.

Nobody says it's unfounded. It's worse: it's a rumour, and a pretty nasty one, as long as it isn't reported. We don't know who, we don't know why, we know nothing at all. Just "a DM has been metagaming and bye bye". It's even less than helpful, you know.

So, if you have a problem: report it (but accept that you may be wrong after all).
