Can someone please give me a good, standar pure sorcerer build?
I was experimenting something in single player and I would like to see your oppinions.

Thank you!

Are the SD 10 gear and summons that much better than SD 6 to make it worth the extra 4 levels?

Depends on whether you want to use the summon for distraction or not. There's no OOC-restrictions on SD 10 gear anymore.

I was wanting to use the SD 10 summons for hunting. Can it stand up to epic spawn?

That's good to know about SD gear. But I thought the restriction came from the store itself, the merchant wouldn't talk to you unless you were the necessary level, one store for SD 6, another for SD 10. It's been a long time since my PC visited Shadowscape, I guess things have changed?

Assuming you're a human.

Charisma should start at 18, probably end at 26. Distribute the rest of your ability scores as you like, though reasonably good intelligence and constitution are recommended. Mind, I don't know the best pure-sorcerer build, but I'd do something like this:

Pre-Epic: SF (Evocation), SF (Necromancy), Extend Spell, Empower Spell, Maximize Spell, (I went Scribe Scroll here), GSF (Evocation), GSF (Necromancy)

Epic: ESF (Evocation), ESF (Necromancy), Epic Mage Armor, Great Charisma I, Greater Ruin, Epic Mummy Dust, Hellball

Keep in mind: I just went with what looked cool to me.

Quote:
So I decided to make a half-orc barbarian, so far he's just level 3 and I've taken power attack and cleave. I'd like to not screw the build up, so any pointers on playing a barbarian is are welcome. I'd like for him to remain mostly Barb, but I'm open to a bit of multi-classing. Starting stats are

Str=19
dex=14
con=14
wis=8
int=10
cha=7

Take Barbarian all the way to epic.

Pre Epic: Toughness (6), Weapon Focus (9), Improved Critical (12), Great Cleave (15), [Blindfight or Knockdown] (18 )

Epic, Jump into it with four fighter.

Armor Skin/Epic Weapon Focus (21), Overwhelming Critical (22), Weapon Specialization/Epic Weapon Specialization (24)

Then revisit Barbarian

[One of the Rages or Epic Prowess or Epic Skill Focus (Discipline) or Devastating Critical] (27), [One of the Rages] (28 )

Let's visit Rogue at 29 to drop 30 in tumble.

And close out on with barbarian for a little more HP, and to top off discipline.

[Devastating Critical or One of the Rages] (30)

Would recommend a two-handed weapon, naturally. My own barbarian isn't well rounded, just gimmicky.

EDIT: Neatly, Barbarian 20 into Barbarian 25/Fighter 4/Rogue 1

The restriction used to be on both. Now it's only on the store, not the items. You still won't have access to them on your own.

And how about automatic metamagic spells?

Of the three that are available, automatic quicken may be the one most worth the investment, but it's still not worth it, imo, if you're running with haste up. I'd rather have my three epic feats and a pre-epic feat put elsewhere.

Well this blows. SD 8+ has just become worthless. Too bad I didn't know that a month ago.

Question: Does this 1 free rebuild per player apply to everyone, since it's a new rule, or only to people who have never rebuilt?

Not really - Think about it. You can charge horrendous markup to sell it to those who don't have 10 levels.

30 sorceror, plain jane human

10 str
10 dex
14 con
10 wis
10 int
18 cha

All points go into great charisma.

1: spell focus (school), greater spell focus (school)
3: Extend Spell
6: Spell focus (school2)
9: Greater Spell focus (school2)
12: Maximize Spell
15: Empower Spell
18: Toughness
21: Great Charisma
23: Bonus feat: Great Charisma
24: Great Charisma
26: bonus Feat: Epic Spll Focus (school 1)
27: Epic Spell
29: Bonus Feat: Epic Spell Focus (school2)
30: Epic Spell

You'll have 2 epic spells, epic spell focus in two schools and a buffed 40 charisma. Most people choose Epic Mage Armor and an epic summon spell for their epic spells as a basic guide, but if it were me personally and I was confident in my maging abilities, I'd do Greater Ruin and an epic summon, or Ruin + Hellball.

Dress in gold/grey/black, depending on alignment G/N/E and green/red/purple depending on L/N/C. Ta da!

What do you think about:

human, 30 sorcerer

STR: 8
DEX: 14
CON: 14
INT: 10
WIS: 8
CHA: 18

1. spell penetration, great spell penetration
3. extended spell
6. spell focus
9. greater spell focus
12. empowered spell
15. maximized spell
18. spell focus
21. epic spell
23. epic spell penetration
24. epic spell
26. epic spell focus
27. epic spell
29. hellball
30. greater spell focus

put 15 skill points to thumble and get another 3 AC.
propertly buffed this build should have 41 AC naked (barskin potion not included).

or you can sacrifice one epic spell for the second epic spell focus.

Your build ends on an odd charisma with 2 less spell DC due to it, trades epic spell penetration for a spell focus line, takes pre epic feats in epic, and 41 AC will get hit by anyone and anything. Not a good deal.

pre-epic spells should go in pre-epic levels indeed, but i don't understand the part
Quote:

.

41 AC naked means that you have no items at all. Your AC would increase with items.

Naked? No it wouldn't. Unless you're counting Epic Mage Armor, and at this point, no, items will not help your AC.

You don't really need it on a pureclass mage. Mordy will lower SR and monks will get killed by summons or die to SRless spells.

Not really mechanically doable viably. You lose all Hide bonuses from gear when shapeshifted.

You can do Druid5/Shifter19/SD6.

That said. You can't ICly do it at all. HiPS requires that any shadow are you hiding with be at least able to hide 50% of your body effectively. You're a giant bloody dragon. I'd almost rule that you -can't- outright.

I have to agree with Wonnie here.

A dragon's just too.. big to HiPS.

Only situation I would use it for is next to another dragon (shifter or spell or summon).

Any comments on the SD 10 summons? Is it strong enough to be useful and survive in epic areas?

Nope its not. It's a good way to survive... let's say the yuan ti temple

But it will surely die in the abyss, actand, etc.

Its a non epic summon.

Treat it as such.

I do know that the epic Shadow Fiend thingo when you've got a wizardly friend is pretty damn useful just about everywhere though.

Start cha at 18 and it's 20 at lvl1. add in 1 cha feat in epic levels, and ta-da 40 cha. when all lvl up stats along the way go into cha. and +12 in items

29 is the bonus feat lvl for sorc, so you could add in some ranger at lvl28 for some +1 extra epic featness used on an epic spell focus.

29sorc 1 ranger, dump some rangery skills too if yea want.

...could do the whole paladin thing, but eh. Lawful good only.

p.s. yea don't really need epic spell penetration when your a cl29 packing greater spell pen, nor do you really 'need' extend spell. I'd pick maximize 'or' empower...but that's just me, my quickslots are cluttered enough as is.

Extend is the bread and butter for all round-based buffs.

If I picked a spell focus that emphasizes control, such as Enchantment, then it would be Maximize (for IGMS, Ice Storm, etc as sure-fire spells)

If I picked Evocation, then it would be Empower. It's just more economic, and empowered damage spells can rival and exceed Maximized spells in damage output when the rolls are lucky.

Is it possible for a (near-pure) Druid to be a melee fighter? Can anyone show me how to get the AB high enough to be able to hit anything?
I'm coming up with an AB of 36 at lvl 30, and from what I've read that's nowhere near enough.

My suggestion would be a few fighter levels(4), thrown in to take like weapon focus, specialization, etc. As a druid, you'd have a "legit" reason to specialize in scimitar too, seeing as it's a druidic weapon. But as far as I remember, there's nothing really great you can do to make a druid stand up overly well in melee in just human form. I could be wrong though. What I'm thinking though is a druid trying to use human form to melee is like a cleric trying to melee, but without all the AB and damage buffing spells.... Druids don't get any weapon buffs either.

As a Druid, you won't melee well. Your entire spell buff repertoire is designe dto let you survive while your summon and beefy pet do all the damage, and you toss fancy support spells.

I'd suggest take Zen Archery, focus on your damage and support spells, and invest in your pet, if you wanna be a "beast" while in human form(bad pun, sorry). Let your pet melee while you snipe with arrows and cast crowd control... Like one of my favorites for druid is Empowered Firestorm. 30d6, half of that being divine.

If you have your heart set on it though, don't let the AB stop ya. You won't be great at it, but if it's fun for you, I'd say go with it anyway.

True, didn't think about that. Quite possibly the most overlooked ranged weapon, the sling is. Sling, throwing axes, etc means you can get shield for AC too. Also, darts wouldn't be too horrible either. Doesn't allow you as much fexibility as a sling and bullets in terms of mythal slots, but darts do automatically have the Mighty property as high as your char's STR mod. Depending on how much STR you plan for your druid to get, it might be worth looking into as well.

30 sorceror, plain jane human

Eww, Durpari +2cha racial subrace human. *sage nod*

Do you even know what a Durpari is? Without looking it up in wiki.

Fun fact.

If you grab a silly Subrace for the purposes of your build (hihi Chultan WMs) and it isn't reflected in any way in your RP, I actually skip you in my DC checkups!

Of course, since people grab Subraces because they match their character, this never comes up.

More on topic, however.

If you want a combative druid - make a Ranger, or make a Cleric/Fighter. Either works. Druids and Clerics are interchangable if the deities/domains are nature centric, it's simply minor details about the RP / Stats that differ.

any thoughts on how to do a sorc shadow dancer?

23 sorc/1 rogue/6 SD is the minmaxed version and pretty uch the only version if you want to have any spellcasting ability whatsoever.

24Wizard/6SD works also.

Due to the fact wizards get an overwhelming amount of skillpoints and Extra Feats

Wich you can use in
10hide(Costs 20 points)
8MS(Costs 16 Points)
5Tumble (Costs 10points)

And Dodge + Mobility. You won't loose "That" Much strenght in your spells.

And you can probably skilldump a LOT with that build, considering Shadowdancers get 8+ Int Modifier

You'd be better off with 20 bard/3 BG/7 AA if you really wanted that. A bard with less than 20 levels may as well be a bard with 2.

I recall a neat 16 BG 9 Bard 5 AA Floating about somewhere aswell. Epic Fiend a smatter of sneaks and an extra bit of AB.

There are really tonnes of good options for the build, but try to get both D. Shield and Might. Can recall Uce saying he hates himself for not taking D. Shield on his BG/AA/Bard.

For a Dev Crit build, is STR 25 good enough to make it effective against most epic spawn? That would give a DC of 38.
