Okay this is one that's been bugging me for awhile. Any general tips for gear selection as you go through the levels?

I mean I've had several brilliant builds from skilful builders which I've played to the best of my ability, and I think it's my inability to know which gear is worth the investment and which is not which has often stymied me. So here you are.

In a general layout what gear is good as you progress on?

I know that specific gearing is build dependant, but if you had to list... 10 items you'd not do without as you levelled and why. That sort of thing :P

Personal opinion but I say that Rings of Healing are really worth it till about 10-15. A pair give you +2 regen and disease immunity and that's nice to have when you start running around in the swamps

OK, I need some help; I want to rebuild Katsumi, keeping her an epic cleric, of course. She's failing hardcore at soloing /anything/, as a lvl 30, and the Imperceptor of Bane, she should at least be able to solo Maxi.

She gets stepped on, squish like a bug.

Help? I suck at builds. :(

Levels roughly three through ten, I'd suggest Archers Belt and Swordman's belt along with Ghostly visage.

Once you get to killing the trogs and you have the bosses cloak you'll no longer need the Archer's belt so you can use the Cloak + Swordman's belt in combination with Misty's, instead of swapping between the two belts.

That should help a great deal at those levels.

Oh, there's also the Brawlers belt which will help against one or two certain lowby creatures and their 'minions'.

and she MUST be an epic cleric. She's currently...uh...
Cleric 22 Fighter 5 BG 3
Travel and...i don't remember the other domain.

Bane's domains are Destruction, Evil and War. Considering the usefulness of the War domain, it's a small sacrifice to stick to making IC sense, I reckon. I'd go Charisma-heavy, since that will get you the full benefit of the War domain in addition the usual boodies.

Well, nothing wrong with 27/3 Cleric/BG, I guess. 20 Cha, 20 Wis, as much Str as you can pack. Depends on what you want, though.

Yarp. Your not giving enough information other than:

"All my Banite buddies can solo the server why can't I."

25 3 2 Cleric Blackguard Rogue is what i know your aiming for. I'm just to much of a bastard to give a step by step guide on such limited information.

You do realize, Chris, that asking for technical information from me is like asking Barbie how the LHC works, yes? I barely know why these things work like they do, let alone how to make them work better.

So if you have time to TEACH me, I'm all ears.

Otherwise, cut the snark and save the comments.

Thanks.

I would go cleric 26, BG 3 and rogue 1 (tumble, umd / MD-scrolls for pvp). Your main attributs are WIS and CHA. WIS 20 for epic spells and CHA 18.

Useful feats are: Divine shield / power, spell focus (greater / epic) conjuration, epic spell (dragon knight), armor skin, maximize spell, power attack, cleave, extend spell, silent spell (to put massheal in a ninth lvl. spell slot), weapon focus, epic weapon focus, blind fight and imp. critical

Domains: The domains of bane are not very strong ... i would take travel (haste) and trickery (improved invisibility).

Your full buffed AC should be around 70.

Right now I'm running with zero UMD, and it ends me somewhere like this (After full buffs, mind)

AC 60
AB high 40's, low 50's, 4 attacks per round
Extended spells
Epic spell: Greater Ruin
Crit (rapier) 12-20
Saves: 45/20/30some (38, IIRC)

This is what you want. It's actually really hard to mess this build up, as well. Go either CHA heavy for better divine shield and such or go STR heavy for better all day damage. If you don't really know what you're doing, I'd go STR heavy because that's damn near impossible to eff up.

OK.

Now, why?

I want to know also what they do, so I can start learning how to do this myself. I go in and build but come out with middling chars at best.

Gear: at lvl 4 grab a fervor necklace from the gypsy in south. it costs about 4k which is steep at low lvls but it is definitely worth it.

2 Rogue for Tumble, UMD, and Evasion.

2 Blackguard for Dark Blessing. I'm not sure how the Turn Undead at level 3 stacks with Cleric Turns? Is it redundant?

Extend and Maximize spell is a no-brainer. Those are the most important metamagic feats. Most of your vital buffs are round-based. Power Attack is required for both Cleave (BG req.) and Divine Might/Shield. Them, too, are a no-brainer: if you're going Charisma-heavy, you'll obviously want AC and damage from your Cha-modifier. This also works extremely well with the War-domain. Improved Crit. means more damage all-around.

Mummy Dust is a powerful and cheap summon; you don't need the spell foci the dragon demands. Epic Prowess is AB, which is always handy, especially lacking weapon foci. I guess you could go for Weapon Focus and Epic Weapon Focus if you were so inclined, but I don't think you'll really need the AB; you'll hit the +20 cap with your normal buffs, or even less if you run the War domain power. Armor Skin one of the few available epic cleric bonus feats, and it's virtually always very useful.

13 Str is required for your feats, so an even 14 is obvious. 19 Wis for spells, so an even 20 is obvious. 18 Cha is as high as you can probably afford. 14 Int for the skills. Tumble for +6 AC, Concentration for casting spells, UMD for using gear, Spellcraft primarily for saves, Discipline so that not every loser with 30 AB can KD you.

I have the feeling 26/2/2 would be better, yush. Or then I'm just tired and can't see something obvious.

Level 3 grants aura of despair yes? Is this needed that much for her build? if going cha heavy her spell saves will be low since not going wis heavy. No str heavy for dev crit... Maybe 26 cleric (extra feat), 2 rogue, 2 bg..

Taking rogue first level and level 27 or so?

Wouldn't do that myself, but -1 BAB isn't such a big loss since the build is a wee bit tight on skill points already.

AoD is like Battletide, but without the extra AB, dmg and +2 to saves (-2 to any hostile creatures saves in the Battletide Aura, I think, as it's supposed to be stealing the +2 from one enemy.), though Aod has the perk of lasting alot longer.

Yesterday i heard a rumor of a Cleric / Monk build...

Today i saw it in action. We're talking about a 5-7Attacks @ Round +5fully buffed, with Divine favor, and other juicy buffs ...slaughtering...(Yes slaughtering)... the Frozen wastes by his own.

What is this! Teach me!

No. They're cheesy. I have one, but I wield the quarterstaff so I'm forgiven!

There's no secret to it, really. Just grab 3-6 Monk levels on a Cleric. Just don't dual-wield kamas, that's so pathetic.

Dont do it cause people will glare at you, but if you insist 6 monk or 3 monk is all you really need. Go dex for dual wield kamas, or str and punch everything to death. Or go str based, use kamas, and be a as third class. ITs kinda cheesy, but very effective. I've a monk/cleric/wm somewhere. By itself with decent gear, it can hit insane times per round, support good ac, and it solo'd spires at level 20 without to much hastle. Just low low low on feats.

If it you don't use it for PvP, then people wont hate you as much, I think.
But still, I'd go a Cleric/Bg, Cleric/Fighter, Cleric/BG/Rogue or something, rather than the Monkeh levels.

Or, you could go like, 24Monk/6Cleric for a few short term AB buffers, whether that's worth it I don't know, but it's les cheesy than 3 - 6 Monk and all the rest Cleric.

Meh, why take kamas? That's boring, looks stupid and will get you laughed out of every tavern.

Cleric/Monks are very effective and fun even without (ab)using the monk bonus attacks. That gets you coolness points; just look at crossbow-wielding Luthor or quarterstaff-Joon! The benefit of Monk/Cleric is that you can use cloth armor, that is, your clerical ceremonial garb, and enjoy an abundance of AC nonetheless.

Grab a cool, unusual weapon that fits your faith and concept. But as always, we need a lot more info to help you. What kind of a PC do you even want? Me, I had the David-and-Goliath and Friar Tuck concepts in mind when I was planning my build, and went with the latter. Kjetta wanted to emphasize an old man relying on his faith and wisdom, rather than physical prowess. If you have a clear idea and a theme, and you let that govern your building, you'll be so much cooler.

Luthor Ulthonis is the second coolest crossbow user in the module.

Fethrosar is the first.

Axleigh, with those stats going you should probably be able to solo just about the entire module, at least all the epic bosses that I can, you can do. And you have spells!

Hmmm... 26/2/2 is probably the best though if you desire a rebuild yup yup yup.

As for Luthor. Yes, He is pretty damn cool.

There's no problem with your build. L2solo.

The issue with Maxi is obvious. If you trying to smack a construct with a Rapier without EWS and a Decent Str score (like 14 mod) Maxi is going to laugh at you, as will Bodoc, Darkness and the Pirate.

The 25 3 2 that i suggested earlier is the Party Buffing version. Your not actually buffing them but all the Devvers and Down Status Debuff Wizards and Clerics you travel with will hump your leg until they are adhesed to you because of Aura of Despair and Aura of Vitality.

Hullo thar all. I'm back with another character concept that I'd like to have done properly.
I was thinking about making a rogue that could sneak around and still be able to hold her own in combat. Shadowdancing somewhere in there might be nice, too.
Overall: A beefy and sneaky rogue that either has high health or high AC, maybe both if it's possible. Decent fighting capabilities too, for those people that have such high spot/listen that it's just not funny. A plain old human without any subraces preferably.

Weapon Choice is fairly important.

Your aiming for Light Weapons such as Handaxe, Shortswords, Daggers etc.

Honestly don't know what you're getting at.

I beleive what Moshing Chris is trying to get at for ya, is that to use the feat that allows you to use your dex modifier instead of your str modifier, you must use a light weapon.

That means use GATE or SUMMON IX.
Unless you're being literal about solo.

Ok..been wondering this for a while..people going on about RP builds vs char Builds...

I myself was a complete novice when i first met Amia*misty eyes*

But I have learnt scince then[even if it isint how too search/spellcheck]

And I detest being the leech!

So my question is!..Has anyone on Amia ever had a character from 1..too somewhere up there..by only pressing rcommended?

If so ..how did it turn out?

(obviously I dont mean initial race/class choice)[but if you did ..cool!]

You're asking has anyone ever made a character and just used the recommended instead of manual?

I've only done that in campaigns or other quick-build team PvP servers. You'll end up with a slightly decent build, depending on your standards. It's not going to lead you horribly wrong, but you could probably make a lot better of a decision on your own, unless you're completely lost when it comes to builds. And even then, you know what weapon you want your character to use usually, and hitting recommend sometimes makes that choice for you, so it's best to do it on your own even then.

And just because you do your feats/skills manually doesn't mean you're powerbuilding and just because you hit Recommen doesn't guarantee you'll end up with an "RP Build" per say. In both cases, again, you're most likely better off doing it on your own.

Okay, so to recap, a build only using the Recommend option will prolly turn out okay. I've done it before, but not for any character I've intended to play longterm. Even if you're not going for power or effectiveness, I wouldn't recommend the recommend button too often. :D

My opinion too ,thankyou. It seems too me that people who do say ,so called ,powerbuilds ,are ..well misguided. Are themselves so.In them I see a driven individual who has sacrificed all else for his dream, revenge, what have you..

Or in other words..an adventuer.

This is not too say that they cannot be CHARACTERS!..I think anyone who reads books will realise its not the uber guy that you feel for..its the one who trys ..SO hard that you root for...the washerwoman who slips you a knife..the wife or child at home..

In a way we play characters for them too play too...this way the world turns, for we do not drive them..they drive us.

You need to mention what weapon you plan on using because it changes the build and feat selection somewhat from build to build. Especially on Dexers who may want to Dual Wield, Faux Dual Wield.

The Frank is generally 17 Rogue 6 Fighter 7 Weapon Master, although with short swords you could probably afford to go 17 Rogue 8 Fighter 5 WM.

You can't make a tanky, hard hitting SD because you'll ultimately waste 90 percent of your feats and gear slots getting your Hide/MS to 110ish

I know what Katsumi's current build is...

... and it's a mess. Like... a -complete- mess.

Hit me up on MSN, Kats, and I'll get you a new build.

do you really need more than your 33 in move silently? does anyone use listen, and doesn't it work more slowly and inefficiently than spot?

and what spot/listen do you need to beat for PvM?
