I hadn't spawned aprismatic, but I will now be removing the individual prismatic entry.

Installing the dragon override has had anothe rundesireable sideffect. "Tabglow" from creature sis one, as is any effect that applies a colored "Tabglow". (Ghostly visage, divine shield... my own DC item...!)

That dragon override is a bit silly honestly. The reason dragons are smaller models in the game, is because they need to be proportional to other models. For example, notice the houses and such aren't exactly massive. The models fit the game.

Oh, and as a side note for that tree thing. Yes. The tree override is a massive drain on resources. It is quite literally a hi-def texture pack for tree's. So you will need a decent video card to use it. Now if you have a lot of overrides as well as the tree one, you will experience lag and crashes, probably due to not having enough space on your card.

For example. I have a 512mb card and I still crash. If your gonna run a hell of a lot of overrides, talking over 4, plus the tree one, you should probably be running up a 1gb card at least. It has nothing to do with how advanced your card is, just the memory. You could buy a cheapo $50 card thats three years out of date and as long as it has enough memory it would run NWN with masses of overrides as well as the newer cards, possibly better.

The reasons why installing more overrides gives a crash is a memory leak. This is a well known driver issue with some cards.

If you have an ATI card (such as a 4800 series), you need to set the number of dynamic lights in the options to the lowest possible. That will prevent this error. For other cards, you should see the Bioware NWN forums, although I may be able to help if you tell me the make/model of your card (I'm well versed in most solutions to these problems which can even be caused by incorrect sound settings).

The reason for this is that more detailed models use more memory, so it leaks at a higher "rate" as it were, using up more and more RAM until it crashes.

would something like this help with those memory leaks?

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/minimem.html

i've used it before, and it helped a couple of programs i have with leak issues

It would most likely only delay the crash, if it works at all.

The best way you can tell if this is happening is to load the game up, then minimise it and watch memory usage in the task manager.

The fix, as I previously mentioned is to turn dynamic light sources down to its lowest setting. This also has the added effect of removing the massive lag when someone casts magic missile. You really aren't missing much turning it down anyway.

Serious help, thanks much. The dragon override is draconomicon accurate and lore correct unlike Bioware's abominations they call "Dragons". They're not boxers, ffs, they're quadrupeds.

A lot of Overrides like that have lasting effects, even removing them sometimes doesn't bring back the correct thing. I do think some of this is because of the Appearance and some other 2da file that has to deal with visual effects and appearance on creatures, even when deleted can some how find a way to re-assemble once restarting NWN if it detects its gone. I've noticed this on some things.

Go to your 2da cache and dump the defaults in the Override after removing the Dragon override. Just it can and probably will also mess up a majority of Creature model overrides. You can also check the 2das included in the Dragon override, read them for what is actually added and remove those lines. That method sucks and is very boring and hard, but can save you from having to download and install all those overrides again. Knowing your model names and numbers can really help with this.

[Edit] Typos and such.

I liked that dragon override, too. But, like stated, it messed up the tab highlighting and also the Prismatic Dragon.

To me, it wasn't towering or colossal-looking. It stayed the same size but horribly deformed. Like, it's front legs were where its head should be, and its head was on its side.

Yeah, it was strange. Prismatic Dragon is the only one my character can summon, so I had to delete the whole Override folder and replace it with the backup I made.

To fix the tab highlighting, don't be a goob like me and put in both appearance files in your override. Just use the non CEP.

Can someone with the re-skinned monster overrides take a peek at the Erinyes (not in game as the erinyes there is custom) but in the toolset and tell me if its the new 3rd edition skin of the pale woman and not the succubus remake with wings or if I got it some other way?

There is no Erinyes in default NWN without using CEP or something like that.

I installed the Redux override, in the same place was a zombie override mentioned. I downloaded that too abd the zombies looked a lot better. I downloaded the kobold and goblin reskins too. It all looked nice, too bad that the winterlings disappeared at the same time. I threw it all out (except the redux) but still, if you can't se winterlings in Amia B it's probably due to some error in one of these overrides.

I've the same problem. It could be because they hide, but my drow has a listen approaching 100 and she still couldn't see them.

EDIT: I can see Winterlings just fine. They're scaled down default NWN Drow models with white dragon wings.

Adding overrides has a tendency to screw up resized creatures, making them invisible; If you hit TAB, you'll be able to see the name. You'll have to go back and remove your overrides one by one until you find the one that's causing the problem.

It is actually ones that directly change your 2da Appearance file. If they are not done right, or NWN is laggy, or your computer is just not able to load up the information fast enough and correctly, you will get the invisible monster.

If it was an exact override, it would always make them have NULL models.

Overrides do however make your computer have to check every time to see if you do have something other than the default. Which can make your computer lag enough so you can not load up the creature model fast enough.

The reason Miracle mentioned about Resized creatures is because of the 1.69 tail models, that actually all resized creatures are (Just tails), are a pain for some people to load. More than the actual Skin Models. For you to load a resized monster, you must load an invisible skin and one of those tails that are a bit more demanding than the actual skin itself for whatever reason.

So for some people, they could never be able to load resized monsters, same as ones that probably can't load up areas like Caraigh, Wiltun, or the Fugue Plane.

I have every override thats been posted here and more of them that I had made myself or edited for my own tastes. And I have no issues. I'm also on a faster connection and a good computer though.

Deleting the added files should do it (providing they didn't replace ones that were already there methinks)

If you don't have something to open the 7zip, download bioware_rural_trees.zip, the fourth one down.
Otherwise bioware_rural_trees.7z, which is the last one.

They both contain the same stuff, just one is more compressed.

Just extract all the files into your override folder (spelled exactly like that) with no subfolders, and it should work.

Do you have WinRAR or something like it that can extract compressed files of different types?

Speaking of overrides, does anyone know where I can find the one that lets wings show through cloaks? I remember hearing about such a thing, or something your change in your files to let them show.

No, no, it works! Awwwwesomesauce!

Apparently you just go in your NWN fold, search "cloakmodel.2da", open it with notepad, and change the numbers in "hidewings" to 0. You can even choose which models of cloaks let wings show through. I personally chose the thin ones like dragonknight, cyric, torm, and helm. No override or hak required.

In addition, you can as well set things like tails or shoulders to show through on each cloak model. Great find, I say.

If this can be set serverside with no additional downloads, that'd be quite nice.

Hmm after some closer use. My wings end up gone as soon as I craft cloaks, even when I take the cloak off. Only come back when I relog or switch to a cloak that is set to hide wings.

Would be great for a sever that didn't have cloak craft support, or if you make every cloak show wings.

That happens occasionally. They usually fix themselves after a while of transitioning or relogging (you can usually just ignore them until then by rotating your camera).

Yeah, and in addition... I can't get the to show up at all in a module. Only in the toolset when I equip it to a humanoid NPC, then change its wings does it show up on them with both the cloak and the wings. And even then, it doesnt show up on the NPC when I log on, nor do they show through when I equip a cloak I set to show wings.

... Failure-to-awesome.

There's my own override I made for the City Exterior. So Areas like Cordor, Shadowscape, Kohligen. It makes them use the TNO textures that came from 1.69. Hope you guys like them.
