It was quite obvious that something was different in the forest.
The Roadwardens looked a bit more at ease. This was a volunteer job after all, and it'd become harder to find bodies that didn't mind being chewed on.
The formerly crowded animal population, now thinned by the foreign threat didn't exactly spring instantly back to life, but the signs were there. Brand new burrows and deerbeds were spotted in the central forest.
Their arrival, a mystery. Some said they'd come by boat. A vicious pet perhaps? Maybe a mutation? Still others spoke of the wolves as a not-so-gentle reminder from the nature gods that the balance is called "the balance" for a very good reason, and is easily upset when taken for granted.
Their viciousness, instinct towards those that said "food" has grown to include the human population. Some of the bones found in the Western part of the forest were double the size of the wolves that once leaked into the well traveled areas.
One thing was very clear to everyone, despite many inner battles with morality. People had been dying. Local animals were being slaughtered by the dozens.
Now...they were not.
In the weeks to come, personal papers would litter the forest ground. Some would be torn down and properly disposed of. Others still would remain tacked to trees, although weather beaten. Monuments of the ease of non personal communication. The birth of all misunderstanding.
There was a sense of renewed peace in the forest, of this there was no doubt. Birds chirped, twigs cracked under the gentle pressure of hooves. To the trained ear, this added quite nicely to the ambiance resting beneath the din.
*****
Elsewhere, three small wolf puppies were stowed someplace safe. Two males and a female. Their behavior was yet to be determined by their rescuers, young as they were. Time would have to tell, as it would with all things.
For now, there was healing. At least where it was important.

Ailahra raised her eyes to look at the boughs above her. With a tilt of her head, she cast a glance at a shadow and grinned, then continued on her way in much better spirits than she had been of late.

*Malandria would be seen in the forest, watching the changes, for the first time in a long while an ever so slight smile displaying on her tired and troubled face.
However... when seen outside people might notice tension... she definately was not completely at ease, expecting those who felt betrayed by their actions may not only stick to harsh words and insults.
Only inside the Grove and at the duir she seems to relax some. Gliding down to her knees with a grimace, her leg was definately worse nowdays. She settled on her knees in front of the duir, a slender hand gently touching the bark as she closes her eyes for a prayer to her goddess.
She kneeled there for hours, forgetting her exhaution over her devotion to nature and the balance.
She did not like to take such a drastic way. Once there was a time when she wanted to do what was best... for everyone. To make everyone happy with her decisions. She was young when she became an archdruid... very young but ambitioned... trying to please all those interested in nature.
Now she realised this cannot be done. The realisation drove a pain through her heart... but she had to decide. Staggering between making it right for everyone or doing what was right for the balance, for the forest.
The decision was hard and yet so easy the same time. She devoted her life to the balance and to Mielikki. She will fight to preserve the balance and to rescue the duir. She will either succeed with the help of the others or die trying.
After a long time she finally got back to her feet, swaying slighty.
A new day... and much to be done. The forest is slowly regenerating... but that is only the first step in the right direction.
She goes down, back to the Grove with newly gained confidence, checking the remaining, suitable rescued animals, then off to find the others who agreed to help with the repopulation program*

A pack of wolves lead by a Lycanthrope can be seen stalking the woods at different times of night and even day. The pack was not very friendly by the looks of it and they did have blood stains on their coats. Funny enough, they weren't seen slaughtering animals. They were seen killing only those who dared to come to too close or those who failed to take the verbal warnings to leave. Only select people were warned to leave though. Perhaps it was with reason or a random. Only those who knew, knew.

An odd light in the sky appears over the Skull Craigs Foothills, before descending. Witnesses say it looked like a wispy flame that traveled against the wind to land somewhere southeast of Bendir.

Garbed atypically in his leafen camoflauge, the elven ranger, Earylduil, relaxed languidly amidst the branches of a tall oak. His figure obscured, hidden from the view of all but the most observant and keen of sentries.
His ears listened to the sounds of nature's own, subtle, song. The whistling of the wind through the weaves, the light chirping of feathered avians.
Peace, for the moment, and growth. The elf cared little for his reputation, or what the public throught of him - and so these petty losses meant little in the grand scheme he had drawn within his mind.
Afterall. People die and are forgotten. Nature lives, and remembers throughout the eons.

A striking figure dressed in black, and gold armor, can be seen watching the light. Following its descent, she begins to make her way towards Bendir Dale, and hopefully, the spot where this strange light may have come to ground.

Nevaeh, though her presence had dwindled from the forest basin for one reason or another, finds time after her guard shift to visit the forest. She would only pause for a moment, taking in the atmosphere of the seemingly recovering forest before seeking out a quiet place by the river to meditate.

Warrick's brief sojourn into the visit having seen the clouds in the sky seems to make him pause and his journey back home that night something of a longer walk, deeply thoughtful as he returns to Cordor.

The eerie light travels across the sky, like a wisp of fire towards the Foothills of the Skull Craigs. Six Men in bright robes are seen to have landed, and proceed northwest, passing through Bendir and through the forest.. They seem to be taking keen interest in both the Settlement of Bendir and the state of the eastern part of the Forest. They pass further west, stopping at the base of the Duir and proceeding no further. Little sign of their camp is visible, or traces left of their passing.

*after her talk with the other people of the forest, at least a few of them, both of the Grove and the Glade, Malandria takes a deep breath in relief. It seems they finally now agreed at least on what now should be done.
With that, as promised, Malandria and some others move to the Grove to prepare the deer for transport to the secluded forest part which Ailahra now prepared with the Winyans.
The deer there could breed along with the Glade deer. Away from human influence. But occasionally a ranger would go in to hunt some selected or a druid shifted to a wolf, teaching them to be affraid and suspicious of hunters of all kind, as they should be, but without killing them off and giving them a chance to repopulate.
The young wolves shall be introduced a bit later, when there is no risk of the deer dying off anymore.
The badger population was quite alright, they need not to worry overly about them. The boar still absent, should hopefully return soon. Because of the vicious wolves they moved for the breeding season so bring their young ones in a safer place. Once they are big enough to make the way and with the foreign wolves gone they shall hopefully return in time.*

Ania watches, her children held close. Amrissa, her eldest, under strict orders to stay at home with Thayne, grumbles and sighs into the Drow's neck. Ania's relieved that the forest is recovering, though it in no way mitigates her fury at those responsible. The glow leads her to foray out, with Cladi, her dire wolf, in wolfen form...curious as ever.

Lyle is either restless or doubled up his patrols. His time loitering around the well lessens, and more times on the roads around the Dale. When he does stop to rest, it's usually in the near the forest's edge, though a healthy distance away, eyes north.

*After speaking with those that came with Malandria and explaining of how the deer had already been birthing for the past season, the agreement came among those gathered of how to move them. However, the where to move them seemed to be in contest still.
After others departed for their rest, a large and heavily warded group of forest dwellers could be seen roaming around the western and northwestern forest as well as lands surrounding both Winya and Uhm. They seemed to be searching for something. Sadly, few of the faces viewed seemed terribly pleased with what they found.*

At certain times, an ominous Murder of Six Ravens sits watching all travelers passing through the eastern part of Amia Forest, Like carrion birds waiting for death to provide their next meal.

Neliel spends more time visiting the forest, she seems not like herself, wandering aimlessly and observing discussions with little words said on her part, if at all. Occassionally she can be heard talking to herself and noting how authority is too often challenged for no real reason, how arguments lead the course of conversation and other such things.

Ania and her children can be seen leaving the Glade with her children in tow...it's clear some things run deeper than mere words for her. They set up a small camp in the woods, keeping to themselves, her knowledge of the forest ekeing them out a living, Cladi the dire wolf a constant companion. She spends time teaching the children what went wrong, and how they can keep from doing it again; to any listening, she speaks of the wolves, how their removal was necessary, but she stresses time and again that death was the wrong way to do it.
She's also teaching them about trust....

*Too often those who arrived would bear questions to which there were precious few answers. A few gatherings either in the forest or away from it would have yielded some small comforts but far from the assurances which no doubt were yearned for.
Those arriving via portal to the forest or passing near it on the road would note the small piles of stones and dirt around it as well as a narrow but deep trench filled in with easily removed fallen tree limbs to keep others from falling inside no doubt.
Some came to offer aid, others to offer scorn and derision. Of the latter, many went away after it was realized they were being stared at by those who had too often died in protection of the lands they walked. After all, if strangers knew best how to do this task, why did they not remain to fulfill it?
As the days departed and the anointed hour came closer, the minds of those who spoke with her seemed to follow three paths: Appease, Accept or Fight. For each, always they were asked to weigh all the length of that path to see if it was truly what was felt to be the best to do.
After all. Believing one knew what was best is how this entire mess began, wasn't it?

Earylduil is seen, intermittently, patrolling through the forests 'just in case' - though has apparently returned to his previous self-proclaimed status of hibernation.
When asked, a typical bitter, sharp comment is spared - typically a variation of "I'll give 'em another chance to do it right in my absense", along with an insult or two.

... However, in a completely unrelated note;
A small selection of darkly clad archers in black and midnight blue are seen, occasionally, patrolling the forests for their brief moments of visibility. At most, two are seen at once, though there's no doubt more of them operating - likely in rotating, vigilant shifts.
They don't seem intent to talk, and for the most part remain detached from the local happenings, though those with a keen eye will notice the trademark of a missing left eye... Giving clue to their origin, though not their purpose. They certainly seem ready for war, however.
