Lots of people are going to try to look down on your RP at some point or another.

It's easier to just ignore the pants right off of them and continue enjoying your thing. You did, after all, buy the game. Play it the way you enjoy playing it and everyone else can go lick a window.

Hey, hey. Some of us like our emotional dramaz and self-pity! And our bench-sitting!

Just because you don't enjoy something other people do does not make your RP better. IF that's what your post is implying, I'm totally disappointed!

Yep..... (though I have to concur with some of Magoo's points made, re Cordor)

I think Mago's post is fairly accurate. That's not to say that said RP is bad, but it's a stereotyped description, and stereotypes do come from somewhere.

Which is considered a hostile spell since it was probably unwanted, and the caster should have been arrested. Though the meta of guards is still to common to hope for that.

Let's not make assumptions.

And the idiot running around shouting OOC? It was a justified response to a moron that a DM managed to get around to a quarter of an hour later.
I'd say saving a quarter of an hour for everyone in the square from an idiot who was just there to ruin everyone else's fun is reasonable.

She did say 'if'.....

Perhaps we shouldnt be assuming that your list covers everything that goes on in Cordor (though I hate the place for no other reasons than those you listed!)

Ah, you didn't mention he was one of THOSE. I thought you meant when somebody becomes over dramatised.

Yeah, I should have been more specific with what 'that' was referring to. My apologies (jeez that's the third time today ... not a good day as far as my writing / comprehension skills are going).

Even if it's a complete n00b to the server who has no idea they're on an RP server and possibly no idea how to RP? If so... you should be explaining to them in tells about it being an RP server, or just ignoring them if you do not want to explain, or even telling a DM that they don't seem to know/understand the server... not egging them on 'til the DM gives them the iron boot.

If you're talking about people who are familliar with RP and all the rest, who should know the rules, just ignore my post.

When a looney runes through Cordor it's about then I wish PVP was enabeled..or at the least PVP in south was still enabled. Then I'd have a chance to lure and put out of misery.

Doesn't do much for 'immersion' though.......but the same can be said for much of Cordor's goings-on.

You know what I find hilarious.. it's always the other guys that do the embarassing RP!

Ever noticed how no one usually attests to doing that? Well, Estara did, so here's a cookie for you Estara.

I like hanging out in Cordor because there are many people. And many people mean many interesting things happen and many situations happen where you can get involved one way or the other. If you see people somewhere out in the wilderness RPing together, chances are that they'll look at you weird if you try too hard to stick around.

There's nothing wrong with people RPing in Cordor, and I've seen plenty of folks put up a good effort. A lot of DC-worthy stuff happens there, it just happens also that the DMs don't like the place. Funnily enough I still see them playerside in Cordor all the time.

Actually the stereotype on Cordor RP annoys me a lot. I remember back when it didn't exist, we used to get a steady supply of DC's given out. But now that it seem's to be a "No DM" area, nobody gets any DC's.

I don't think it's fair to punish the majority for the actions of a few.

Pretty hard for casual RPers to leave the comfort zone when 4/5 of all RP is private or faction-related.

OMGZZZ I got a cookie?!

But yeah. Xordae's got a good point there and Tormak sorta summed up the thread a long time ago in implying it wasn't going to go anywhere that constructive. It sorta seems like people are just bashing Cordor or not-Cordor RP and stuff.

Chillax wit dat, broskis.

Xavier said with nausea as his organs of sight regarded the disgustful crowd of Cordorian rabble as they scampered about, occupying themselves in the daily accomplishments of their dismal lives.

Just have fun. It's better to foster RP than insult it.

I bet there's someone that you piss off just as much as someone else pisses you off, so why bother fretting over it?

Besides, having fun and helping others have fun seems a lot more proactive than bashing and ticking people off at you.

What Dwagy said.

And anyone arrogant enough to look down on other's RP is best keeping it to themselves, regardless of how low they think the standard is, since I'm sure they wouldn't like it to come back in their direction, it's innapropriate and I know I wouldn't like it, even though I take zero notice to anyone who would say they dislike/hate my style of RP, or just down right try to take the piss out of it.

"There is no good nor bad rp, there is only RP and those who RP."

End of the story for me.

Its true that veterans might act more haughty and arrogant than the rest, I am not so blind or arrogant as to say that I might not do it, unknown, but still might be doing it accidentally.
Why be selective of RP? Just because someone has a bit worse grammer than your standards?
I dayly see people not starting a sentence with a capital letter, yes it does make me twitch and want to yell at them but then I realize 'They are having fun this way, and a little bit of bad grammar is no bad thing. Remember yourself when you started, you were no better.'

So, what was the point of this topic anyways again?

I have to earnestly ask;

Why should this thread remain unlocked? I'm looking at the majority of posts on this page, and I see one, constant, theme.

"RP of type Y is inferior to type X and is absolutely Z."

I agree with you, Ron, except I think there are a large number of people arguing that none are superior as well, but I think the OP is angled at
"RP of type Y is inferior to type X and is absolutely Z."

Have you seen the DM Story thread?

Recently, there's been a lot of DM interactions there.

Not at you only, Selvec, but quoting that to show what I am talking about.

It shouldn't.

The entire premise of the thread was to insult other peoples choice of RP, RP venue et al. Doesn't matter how it was dressed up either. Some people think they are the bee knees when it comes to RP, when all they do is rehash the same character over and over until they've felt they've exterted some sort of control of what is inherently a server about community.

I enjoy Amia, its cons and its flaws are the same bloody thing.
