I'm building a Black Guard (Name: Amontep / Account: allamus) and I intent to get lvl 16. I'm not sure If I'm doing ok to post It right here and I'm sorry for any mistake. A few days ago, I got a Book of Vile Darkness that allow me to summon a great creature. But, It was a DM's mistake. So, another DM removed that book from my character. The same DM told me that I would be able to get It back again at lvl 16. I asked him about some kind of compensation, because I created a nice history with that Book (that allow me to summon a demon). I was deeply imersed on It. Really did. Now I feel a little empty when I play with him. I understand that It was a mistake commited by a new DM.
But this is not the end. A third DM told me that at lvl 16 BlackGuard I could try to get a Book of Rituals (somethink like that). In addition, he told me that the Book of Vile Darkness will be or was removed from the game. Also, It's a DM reward, but I guess It is not being give to players anymore.
Could someone tell me what is right and what is not ? I'm really confused and frustated about my build, about the possible summons I'll get and how can I fix about my current RP without the demon.
I'm not sure If I'll be able to play It again, because I'm very upset at the moment. But I'll try.

Vile Darkness should never have existed in the module and was mistakenly added by a dev years ago for... reasons.

Vile Rituals is the book you get at Blackguard 16, and with Epic Fiendish Servant, after a DM quest.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to make this a public topic after 3 DMs gave you a verdict: It's not going to change our answer. You're not getting the Fiend of Shadow and Flame back. You shouldn't have had it in the first place.

Sorry to hijack the thread... but what does the Book of Vile Darkness do? Curious.

Nothing you need to worry about. PCs do not receive it, it's not something you should aim for and indeed should not have been aded to the module.

I'm sorry If you get the wrong impression. I didn't mean that. Also, I got the veredict only by two DMs, not three. The first one gave me the wrong Book. Also, the main subject is: what will I recive at level 16 Black Guard ? The second DM told me that I would recive the Book of Vile Darkness again at level 16. The third one told me about the Book of Rituals at level 16. But I belive you made it clear now, that the correct one is the Book of Vile Rituals.

I think there are 3 people with the Fiend of Shadow and Flame. They were grandfathered in if I'm not mistaken, being very old characters.

I hope that someday you guys allow this Book again in game. I don't care If It's strong or not. Just would like to RP with It.

The Book of Vile Rituals that you will recieve enhances the fiend you can already summon. You can probably RP with that?

Alternately, you could get a Bottled Companion that looks like a fiend, and RP with that. It wouldn't have any combat power, of course. Or you could get a skinchange for your level 9 Summon spell that you can probably cast from scrolls (I think it works like that).

i believe a dm told me when i initially got my Book(which by the way is an awesome quest usually) that you could reskin into something else. Is this still possible by chance?

Anything that can be summoned can be skinchanged, so go ahead and RP about the book alamut! And make sure a DM is watching. When you get 10 DCs, go ahead and BUY the name and the skinchange!

Seem's three DM's gave conflicting information. Which happens a lot. Refer to what Tormak said just before then, minus the snarky comment.
