Weapons allowed. Wanting an x3 weapon, warhammer or battleaxe.
What works? Any any links for RP help on him, (gonna be a horribly beaten and scarred ex slave to a tribal leader escaping using his uberrangerness to hide and stowaway onto a boat which got him to Amia)

Any weapon you can get from Faerûn works just fine.

Battleaxe would probably be more traditional Tuigan. I doubt they have many hammers and maces, because they require a lot of metal and aren't very handy hunting tools. But then, he could've picked up most any weapon after leaving his home.
You should know that the Tuigan horde attacked Faerûn (and Kara-Tur, I think) in the last decade, causing a lot of damage until they were stopped by the united forces of Faerûn, particularly a crusade lead by king Azoun of Cormyr. That's one reason to have Tuigans around: many were left behind of the horde as it retreated.
I'm so glad you asked, though. You're extremely lucky to be interested in the Tuigan, because Wizard offers an entire sourcebook on them for free:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads
It's the first book that isn't in cursive: The Horde. It's a small file too, so no reason not to get it for that extra flavour.

That's how I've always treated it. If my monk is in a really bad mood, he's going to make sure the alcohol hits him, otherwise he's going to just ignore it.

Uh... dont...
ut if you insist on uber cheese and then have to go to chefs to make your cheese edible...
He joined the order when very young (1st level paladin). Say he even lied about his age to get in. Well things were going dandy and his training was just spiffy, but lo and behold thigns werent to go as planned.
Eventually somehow ( you decide this ) He realized he had access to spontaneous magic, and of course being newly aquainted with such, could not control it, so the overlords of the order thought he was to chaotic and kicked him out.
He remains lawful good at heart but struggles in appearance, so he travels the realms learning as much as he an about his magic and practicing control over it hopeing to enter the order again with blessings from those above.
He acts as almost a a vigilante from the shadows, helping who he can.

Well, paladins and elves are a bollocks match regardless, IMO.
That said, I guess you could be a holy knight of Corellon Larethian, who is both the defender of the elven peoples and their deity of magic. Sun elves prefer traditional wizardry and might not appreciate the wild nature of sorcerers, but Wild elves aren't likely paladins. Moon elf is the most probable choice, IMO.
He'd be from Evereska or Evermeet, surely. Or if the server is a few years into the future, restored Myth Drannor. Other places aren't likely to have enough of a knightly order presence to facilitate such an oddity. He would have probably studied with heavy bladesingers (duskblades, basically) and clerics.

Now that you mention Hexblade... is there any official lore for them in the Realms?
Also, any chance of being allowed to play one on Amia if I used a bard and used Curse Song to represent the curse abilities?

Cool, would this be something I should fill out a full request for or is it just something people can do freely?

A request is always best. It saves you a lot of trouble, like getting on my mental list of "horribly rped characters, forever unfit for DCs", which would be quite deserving if your character was in fact a cleric spitting in the face of all the gods.

I don't believe so, just play it and call yourself that. You get no special bonuses anyway, beyond items that you can DC request (and RPing the class would be RP for it).
I don't think that sort of question goes here, though.
Edit: Ah, ninja'd with a different answer. Listen to them, not me

That's what's so awesome! They're clerics and they STEAL MAGIC FROM THE GODS.
Ur-Priests are baller. And best of all, it's allowed to happen. Which means on some level, Ao simply does not care.

Ur-Priests don't work like that in the Realms. Well, at least I haven't seen any source that states they do.
I do have one source, Ed Greenwood on Candlekeep, saying that Ur-Priests might occasionally appear in the Realms as wild cards, but that the deity who actually grants them power certainly knows about them. For whatever reason, they just allow them to run rampant for a while. (I imagine gods like Cyric might benefit from a murderous maniac who doesn't realize he's actually Cyric's pawn.) IIRC, Ed stressed that it was a viable NPC villain concept but not a reliable, long-term PC choice: because when the god gets bored, you simply won't be getting any more powers.
It could be, of course, that this has since been retconned in a FR product that I don't know about. Sounds bollocks, though, considering how the gods work in the cosmology.
EDIT: Aha, found it!
Quote: May 13, 2006: Hi again, all. Back in September of last year, Jamallo Kreen posted: "I have a RULES question which may well belong elsewhere, but Ed may be able to provide insight which settles the matter for the more formal amongst us: is the creature known as the "ur-priest," who can "steal" divine power to do clerical magic even possible within Realmspace? Admittedly the things of the Gods are known to the Gods, etc., but the DM is something of an Overpower; as such, being a DM, I'd like to know if allowing an ur-priest to function according to the written rules is possible in "real" Realms gaming, or if some deity (Gargauth, for example) would knowingly and deliberately power the spells of the ur-priest for reasons which are (probably) nefarious? (I could imagine a Good or Neutral deity, far-seeing Savras, for instance, powering spells for such a priest in the expectation of eventually acquiring him or her as a worshipper, but Gargauth or Cyric or Bane would probably do it just to raise heck and create eventual despair; a demon lord or devil would probably be delighted to grant spells to an ur-priest and then appear some time later contract and pen in hand and an announcement that only a signature is necessary for the spells to keep on comin'.)
I'm sorry if I seem to be flogging an expired equine, but I have a Thayvian PC in my campaign, and the player has hopes of him becoming an ur-priest. I have said that is not a guaranteed available class, but I would like to know what options Ed and others consider to be available for such a PC before I slam the door on the PC. (Eternal damnation for the character is one of the possibilities -- mwahahahahaaaaaa! -- but not the only one. "Hey, everybody! Field trip to Hell! XP! XP!")"
Ed replies:
Certainly it's possible, both for running ex-clerics of dead gods, as stated under the "Adaptation" heading, and for the stealing-divine-power character. Please note, however, that your supposition is correct: no mortal is deceiving a god and "getting away with it." Rather, a deity IS deliberately granting the ur-priest spells to let the ur-priest function as a "wild card loose cannon" and benefit from the results. (This may of course end in stopping the flow of spells if the ur-priest no longer benefits the deity, or even ending such granted powers at the same moment as priests of that deity show up to do battle with the ur-priest and publicly vanquish him, to the greater glory [enhanced public reputation] of the deity. So being an ur-priest in the Realms is by no means a long-term secure career.)
Some deities by their nature would have nothing to do with ur-priests or such tactics, but in the Realms of old, Leira loved to 'run' such mortals. Gargauth and Talos did and still do, though they will limit what spells the ur-priest gains, and support only a few isolated individuals (so, no temples or "unholy strike forces" full of multiple ur-priests). This makes it difficult to play a PC ur-priest, but easy to have NPC ur-priests.
So saith Ed.
Who may just have explained some of the strange foes we Knights met, down the years. Or not, as the case may be.
love, THO

Do those ur-priests in that example know that a deity is deliberately granting them spells, or do they have the mistaken impression that they're somehow tricking the gods?

Kelemvor was an ass. You can read about him, Midnight and Cyric as mortals in the Avatar series. (I only ever read Shadowdale, it was so lame.)

The above doesn't specify, so it's anyone's guess. To me, though, it seems obvious that they don't know. They wouldn't be Ur-Priests otherwise, but just regular clerics. The mention of Leira supports this, too: she is (was?) the goddess of lies and trickery, and I'm certain any Ur-Priest getting power from her would have quite an opposite belief.

I'm pretty sure Kelemvor was a normal Faerun human, but with Lycanthropy. But yeah, the Avatar series is where you'll find anything there is to be found about his mortal life. I can't say I know the answer to the other two questions. I'm going to guess Lyonsbane Castle was near Waterdeep though. Just a gut feeling, nothing with substance.

Ha! So you think. I bet the Guardian of Liars is laughing her ass off this very moment, watching the clueless players and WotC employers talk about the story of her death. Mark my words: it won't be long until she takes the Cyric-costume off, lets Mystra out of the box she's been keeping her in, and says "lol it's 1375, all ur fake calendar r belong to us."

He's dreaming you know? He is just trying to get over the fact that his beloved patron deity has a very intimate relationship with another certain deity. Really have made poor Iron delusional.

Some question about the fey, what happens if the Physical body of a fey is destroyed? Are they reborn at their chosen place?
And are fey considered immortal, not in the 'so you stabbed my guts? Should I be afraid or something?' way, but in the never aging way on Amia?

I'm quite certain Fey are immortal in the never-aging way.
That said, on Amia so is everyone else.

From the Complete Guide to Fey:
Quote: Every single one of the fey can be understood by keeping the following truth in mind: Fey beings are souls that have been given one last chance at existence. They are no longer part of the True Cycle of nature, and when they die, they fade away forever unless some immensely powerful being (such as Rememberers, described below) can bring them back quickly.
[...]
When a fey creature dies, its soul enters its heart, which then leaves his body in an ethereal form. Cast about on the winds of the Ethereal Plane, the lost fey soul begins to dissolve. Over time, this fragile soul will be torn apart completely, and it will be as if the fey had never existed.
[...]
Fey do not age, unless they choose it for themselves. They may age or reverse apparent aging at the rate of one year per day, or slower if they wish. Most prefer to remain in a perpetual state of youth, but others choose the forms of children or the ancient. As they “age” in this way, they gain the outward traits of a mortal, such as white hair and wrinkles.
I hope that answers the questions ... if a fey dies, it is dead, but they do not age.

Makes fey extremely poor PCs, but alas.
It is certain that there are many fey, some more powerful than others, residing in Arvandor. Whether these have originally arrived there from their home world, or are fey who died on the Prime or some other plane, I don't know. Either way, I wouldn't take the Complete Guide to Fey too seriously: it's not even an official D&D product. It's probably more or less correct, though.

It contradicts some stuff, especially MM (which it points out), but it's the only supplement to do anything major for Fey, and for that it's worth listening to. It's an interesting read regardless.

1: No.
2: Only a Natural Lycanthrope, since they can simply shift whenever they feel like it. Afflicteds don't have that degree of control and technically have their own skill they have to put ranks in to be able to shift anytime that's not at full moon.

A diseased Lycan can shift, mostly, at will, but only after tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of training (I.E. the skill). But, it would never be as good or controlled as a natural Lycan. That's why you can only piss off a, goodly, diseased Lycan (who is pushed toward evil: Werwolves, Werebats, Wereboar, Foxwomen, etc.), who has a high level of control, so far before you might get your head torn off by them in one of their forms!
Keep in mind as well, that natural Lycans only have two shapes: Their normal base race form and an animal form of the type of Lycanthropy they've inherited.
Where as diseased Lycans have three: Their normal base race form, an animal form of the type of Lycanthropy they've been infected with and the infamous Hybrid form.

And let's not forgot that your alignment will change eventually - you'll eventually fail the roll. And then you'll become the alignment of the lycan-type you were bitten by.

Not true. Your alignment changes to start, not eventually. From that point forward, you either stay at that alignment or learn to gain some control and become whatever alignment you end up at. How do you think Selune has Werewolves and other evil based Lycans?

I've been considering something and I just haven't had enough time to research right now but I'd really be interested in knowing, not sure if such a thing would even be mentioned, not that I've come across.
Around what age do Avariel learn to fly? Is it like walking? Do they learn by themselves or are they "instructed", well guided by their parents I'd suppose?

Thanks, but I guess I'm asking for opinions or maybe something somebody read in some series I'm not familiar with (having read only Salvatore's Drizzt series and Ed Greenwood's Elminster series) if any exist that mention Avariel.
I'd consider they learn it like walking, either with help or on their own, but that would be an empiric opinion.
Also. Can I adopt notions and concepts from D&D's d20 system? It's not specific for Forgotten Realms from what I can tell and the no mention on the covers, and I'm mostly refering to: Tournaments Fairs Taverns, Star Magic - Wisdom of the Magi, Necromancy - Beyond the Grave, Illusionism - Smoke and Mirrors, Enchantment - Fire in the Mind, Dweomercraft Enchanters, Crossbreeding Flesh And Blood, Constructs - It is Alive, Alchemy and Herbalists? Just the concepts and theories not the technicalities or weird classes.
If not. I'd like to know other good references for said topics other than Volo's Guide to All Things Magical.

I can't recall any series with an avariel as the main character. There is one in the computer game Baldur's Gate II but thats about all I can recall.
If it is specific prestige classes or pure classes you would like to emulate then it is always a good idea to consult the dm team.
Normally there is litlle problem in using concepts and theory from d&d book though remember that all pnp stuff require player consort from everyone involved before it can be used. Though as long it doesn't contradict realms lore it is all good.

No no, nothing like that, standard is good, standard is best. That’s the problem. I don’t know if it contradicts FR lore, I don’t think it does but… have to make sure?
