a friend of mine is saying that lock place is an exploit.....I was always under the impression that was how it was supposed to be. Is it an exploit?

There was/is a bug in that area, which is very much an exploit. It was giving way too much XP. Disco isn't 100% sure if he fixed it yet, but it's probably fixed. If you feel overjoyed farming the area, it probably wasn't fixed.

ohh, that sort of Lock Place. I thought normal hotel rooms and stuff. My bad.

well if you add all the doors together it's like 1k exp, so I go once a reset...it adds up..not that I'm overjoyed or anything...just wanted to make sure I wasn't exploiting or something

That said, I thought it was just a nice alternative to having to kill monsters.

It is. It's the only place my PC gets to use his Open Lock skill and get something out of it.
Why call it an exploit? A rogue's job is to get locks open and traps disabled. Just like a fighter could "farm" xp by solo-ing the same monsters in an area once per reset, so can a rogue get xp from locks, no?

Because there's a real exploit in the area, that's why. A bug that enables more XP than it was designed to give.
Or, was.

Oh, didn't realise that. I take it that unlocking the doors once per person per reset isn't this exploit?
