Could anyone tell me what currency is used in Cordor?
Or is it simply called gold coins or etc.?

A rose by any other name is just as sweet: It's the gold standard found all throughout Faerun, but PCs took to calling it the Cordorian Crown.

I generally go by "standard gold weights" since the weight of the coin nd its gold content determines its value

I think I started calling them Cordorians crowns when one of the Forstakkr people called it "coins with Montgomery on" or something like that.
Though logicially wouldn't Cordor begin minting its own coins? By most terms Cordor is a major trade town and the wide sea distances towards the nearest other settlements would increase the need for being able to make coinage.
And that said prospecting have revealed there is indeed gold to be found on the isle.
I mean a large mercantille trading city on an isle far away from everything with a large influx of adventurers and a decent amount of goods exported back to the mainland would need a stable supply of trading coin. Valuable ore and wood and high quality arms and armour spring to mind as major export goods. Apart from the actual amount of gold being fairly off wouldn't Cordor without minting its own coins run into run coin shortages?
Though this is merely my thoughts on it, how does other lore hats percive this?

I'm fairly sure Cordor does mint its own coins, which is why people took to calling them "Cordorian Crowns".
It's also been used OOCly on Amia to epxlain extreme inflation in regards to the mainland, in a few discussions. As for tarkuul, Kohlingen, Bendir, Brog, etc etc etc, I assume... well, Brog might. But for the most part I assume these places don't mint their own money. The places right on Amia proper. Up into Frozenfar, and Khem, you're probably looking at more "Mainland gold" being used, but these places have a history of dealing with the Amian islands so the coin pobably isn't looked at as very odd: It is still a coin based on the gold standard, after all.
I assume Ultrinnan mints its own money, and you see it in common circulation around Underport and the UD in general along with other UD trade coins and objects.
In the end it's all just fluff. A GP is a GP.

Ah alright then I suppose it is only a question of what the Commonwealth call their own coins. And it would certainly make sense at least for a newly established revolutionary city state to fiddle with the amount of gold it its coins.
And well yes I must admit I have a obscure interest in economics in whatever form they might be. Hence I always end up speculating about coinage, trade, population and decision making within even fantasy set societies.

Currency in FR is based on the amount of gold it contains, with the weight of the gold coin all that matters - if your gold coin weighs half as much as 'standard', you need to pay with two. This can be worked out by the fact a piece of gold is worth exactly its weight in gold coins, and the rough value of trade goods.

Yes I imagine that would be the case on the mainland. Though as Tormak mentioned it could be one of the reasons as to the massive inflation that has taken place on Amia. The gold coins simply are worth a lot less. So in a way you could say all prices on amia are in the "amian gold standard" which is worth a lot less than the mainland one.
As seen in several instances during the course of history various revolutionary governments caused massive inflation because they minted an increased amount of coins to help found the long list of projects ussually set into motion. The inflation of the French coins in the midsts at the height of the French revolution is a prime example of that.
What could be done to "cheat" the amount of gold is alloying the gold with lead or something. I have no doubts it is possible to do so and if we assume Cordor is prime supplier of coin on the amia isles they could easily affect the worth of the coins in circulation.

The only problem with that analogy is tat I'd be using Amian gold to buy a whole bunch of plate armour and selling it on the mainland for half price and still be making a massive profit.

Though bringing up arms and armour is in paticular is a interesting case as it is one of the major export goods on Amia. Hence the large supplus of both arms and armour will make it very cheap to buy a bundle of goods. And yes in theory you could, though then a series of problems arrive.
Transportation. It will take a ship to transport all those goods to one of the great trading ports of the mainland. As far as I have understood magic is rarely if ever used in general trading on surface so no portals either.
And the moment the goods arrive on the mainland any port will make sure to demand a nifty toll.
That was just a case basis. What I see as prime reason for Amia's very akward prices and inflation is simply its location. It is bloody far away from the mainland and it takes a very long time to move anything to and from the island. This leaves room for the isle having a distinct pattern in both terms of coinage and the cost of common goods. Some goods are cheap others cost ten times the normal price.

I think it's best just to accept a GP is a GP and no matter where you are or what coinage you use, a GP worth of gold is the same. Less draining on suspension of disbelief that way.

It is all a question of taste. I find it a tad bland just to call it "gp" or "gold". When using terms such as "Cordorian Crowns" it just appeals to my sense of imagination as it expands the coins from just being a number in the inventory to an actual currency.
Though off course I would never demand nor expect any others to do so. It is just my personal preference.

When I say a GP is a GP I mean a GP worth of coins is the same weight of gold everywhere, even with the 'rampant' (stagnant with NPCs) inflation, so "Cordorian Crowns" is nice for IC flavour. Usually my drow will request for "##### standard weights of gold, or the equivalent in platinum or electrum".

As an addendum, the dialogue in Forrstakkr implies that Duke Montgomery's face is on Amian coins.

Question about Zanshibon. I know the ruler is Paush, a Demon. But someone pointed at a guard to me and said he is a devil and that the city was mostly ran by devils. I asked Maias and he agreed with me that Zanshibon would be a demon supremacy city. So did many players that are lore wise.
Is that possible that the guards, if devils, are slaves? Or what is going on there? Are they even devils at all?

There are no devils that I know of. Why was the guard supposed to be a devil?
Demons probably couldn't stomach seeing Devils, even as slaves. They'd be ripped apart in a matter of minutes.

yes, so it was a player that didnt know the lore and got me confused. I agree with you Iron. I just dont know how to recognize a devil from a demon by looking at it. >.<
And also the wiki says that a devil fell into abyss with the city. So, he was probably slain right?

Oh, I don't know. Might be that the player was correct. I'm just making a guess based on what I know, but there may be things I don't know.
Usually, though, when someone tells you something "they just heard" or "know from somewhere", it's probably false. I make it a habit not to believe (or disbelieve) anything before checking the facts myself or at least getting an adequate explanation. Doesn't apply to just D&D lore, but the news and pretty much everything that isn't just casual conversation. Having that kind of a general outlook saves one from a lot of confusion, mistakes, arguments and unnecessary emotional outbursts.
So yeah, I'm not saying either way, for sure. They might be devils, and this player might have access to information I know nothing about, but I doubt it and it seems inplausible.
I sound like such an arrogant preacher!

I doubt that zanshinbon has any devils. Demons and devils hate each others guts with such a passion. There is a little thing called the blood war, aka a war between devils and demons that has been going on for countless millennium. even if Zanshinbon was a mortal city on the prime first its place as an abyssal city surely IMO would have corrupted it by now. just my thoughts on it.

My thoughts exactly Herkles. It would be good if someone made a wiki entrance about it though and completed the story. Besides with a demon as Lord, devils wouldn't exist there.. He would have killed them all.
The Gods are demon gods too, the wiki says that. So, I vote that they are all demons and I will rp like that from now on.

Yeah, I doubt it's true. And if it is, I don't like it. ;P
Even if the leaders of the city gave the okay, Demons are so chaotic, one of them or a group of them would have killed them by no. Just my opinion though.

Okay a little different, but is it possible to magically lose a part of your blood. Like a Fire Gensai losing her fire planar traits and becoming a full blown human? I would imagine a wish spell could do this with also a portion of human blood to replenish the person with as a cleric using healing spells. But am curious if it is actually possible.

Blood has very little to do with it - you're changing everything.
But in D&D it is possible to change race, albeit rather difficult. There are several temples of Deus ex Machina lying around that can do it, I do believe Wish and Miracle can, and so can Reincarnation if you're feeling lucky.
But I'd imagine doing a lot of IC research, and having a few powerful mages as buddies (maybe a circle of Thayvians for Circle Magic) could get the trick done in a 'ritual' of sorts.

Never heard of it. Not in any list I've seen, but a comprehensive list of materials in the Realms is sorely lacking.
It's really just new stuff to add to your game for unique weapons and such, almost like feats and Prestige Classes but only with a little more relevance to the game world. As such, I could easily see it imported. I don't think WotC are interested in publishing a book full of stuff to use in core D&D and then publishing another book to confirm the stuff is also applicable to the Realms, so it's pretty understandable.
I doubt anyone would cock an eyebrow if you used it.

Aww there is lots of magic materials and stuff to be found in the realms. You can even read about most of them in Volo's guide to all things magicial, which can be downloaded for free at Wotc website.
You can also look in Magic of Faerûn though as IRon said, unless it issomething nuts you can try import the thing to amia.

I was referring to the obdurium :P
I only asked because I was thinking about making armour out of it, except I have no idea about its other properties - Malleability? Tensile strength? Hardness? Conductivity (both electrical and thermal)? Density? Melting point?

Most of these things are not specificed though once again I would point you towards Volo's guide to all things magicial. You will find a lot of metals to use there and many of them would really awsome for an armour.

I think I've read somewhere the reason for Anubis not making it to Realmspace. There is a story about it, though. I'm fairly sure.

They grabbed the Egyptian gods and used their English names (instead of even trying to disguise them with the Roman or Greek ones), and gave them roles similar enough to be blatant rip offs but dissimilar enough to annoy anyone who knows about Egyptian mythology.

During the Super Mulhorandi Friends rescue of there enslaved worshippers (*Cough* Let my people go! *Cough*), Anubis elected to stay behind, along with Ptah and a few others. You see, the new season of House was on tonight, and they didn't want to miss it.

What I meant in Anubis = Seth in FR's space.. partially descriptor wise and what Set's dominion over covers a lot of Anubis' domain, even his animal. One of Seth's titles is 'Lord of Jackals'.
Anubis was the god to protect the dead, and bring them to the afterlife. He was usually portrayed as a half human half jackal and holding a flail in the crook of its arm. There was issue with jackals digging up the dead bodies and nomming on them back in the day.
Quote: Set typically appears as a Mulan man possessing the head of a jackal and finely scaled skin. He wears a white, gray, or black robe, collar, and bracers.
IRL Seth was actually a balanced god at one point.. dominion over scaly things, Deserts and storms, and warriors and generals. He was charged with the important task of slaying the Apep, while the Boat that held the Sun sailed through the darkness of night, safeguarding it to allow the Ra to rise the next day. As a result of being the god of the desert, storms, and protector of the Sun he was highly revered, though he was one kinky freak. He was only demonized later.

Would I be right in assuming that the temple of Ssseth, in the Quagmire ruins is a temple for the Mulhorandi God Set?
I've been planning out a Mulan Cleric of Set, and thinking of maybe getting a Summon Reskin to a Yuan-ti.

Jackals, Scorpions, Snakes(Asp particularly) are Set's bag.
If you're interested in such, let me know, I have a cleric of Set from some time ago.. and rather enjoyed playing her.

It's a temple for the Yuan-ti god Sseth, but Set is the one that grants them divine spells and receives the benefits of the prayers.
Dwagin's link goes into much more detail.
