NWN-CQ and NWShader made what NWN2 should have been. NWN updated with the newest graphics. Oh and always, use at your on risk. For example. if you notice one override makes use of a tileset you want to replace, put that one in your override first, and then add the one you want it to replace after. Be very careful about what you override, and you'll get exactly what you want. Also note that the low quality of some of these pictures probably has nothing to do with the overrides but everything to do with what settings the people who took the pictures where running at. Selvec Darkon wrote: Reposting a list of a few essentials, and bumping the thread back up. I think the last override thread got smacked down by the Haxxor demon, as a search brang up nothing. So here's some of the more critical overrides that where included. Open nwshader.xml with notepad. Look for this line <ScreenFolder>C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\screenshots</ScreenFolder> Delete the C:\Neverwinter blah blah bit and replace it with the pathway to your screenshot folder. If your computer simply stalls or doesn't run once in game, then its your computer thats the issue, and its a pille of poo. Uninstall NWShaderDelete Nwshader folder Delete these files from Main NWN folder: cg.dll, cgGL.dll, DevIL.dll, dinput.dll, EasyHook32.dll and glew32.dll That SHOULD uninstall it. I've come to learn that NWShader and NWNCQ can actually fix a lot of annoying bugs due to outdated graphics, so they are worth grabbing just for that alone. However, if your running an OLD machine, or a machine without a dedicated video card made in the last 7 years, don't try and use this. You'll just cause yourself immense pain. Disclaimer: As usual, you use these are your own risk. If you stuff up, I'll not be held accountable.

You know, I've never bothered adding overrides to NWN.. Yet I've modded or created mods for every other game I play basically. But with the looks of those, I think I might go hunting for overrides (and add those 2 there) for my game.

Just remember with heads, that others will see you headless and you may be asked to pick a head that Amia uses instead. Unless you fiddle with the numbers, so that you see the head you want and others will see the corresponding number from Amia's pack.

Additional Floor Items
This override changes the way certain items appear when placed on the ground. More screenshots at the page.
Improved Werewolf Model
Yeah, this is a personal favorite. I always thought the basic werewolves in NWN look more like monkeys than they do like wolves. This override fixes that:
Looking for more ATM, if I find any interesting ones I'll post them.

Those overrides look nice. I'm already using a goblin one, but I can't remember where I got it from .... actually, that may be kobolds.

To be honest I'm quite surprised there hasn't been additional overrides added to the download page.
Those glows I've tried out for weapons and they're insanely good looking, the goblins and skeletons are also.
Are there any detriments to players or the server if people use overrides?

For players it depends on the computer, but overrides only affect the person who has them so they shouldn't affect the server in the least.

The main problem with having lots of files in the override folder is that NWN does more hard disk seeking. This is one reason why many games these days pack their data files up, the others being the insane amount of disk fragmentation that lots of little files create, and the need to fit everything onto as few CDs/DVDs as possible.

Oh. My. God. ::download quickly::
I hate the NWN Lycan models, save for wereboar. This one is -very- nice. Totally downloading it. Are there any other Lycan overrides?
All the others are kick ass too. Loving the undead and Goblin ones. Actually, I like all the ones posted so far... well, save for the nude one >.> sorry... Time to download!

Yes sir! They look pretty beastly I might add. It's only good job Bioware did with Lycans. I hate all the skins for the other Lycans. They're ugly and don't even look good.
I'm trying to find a pack with overrides for all Lycans right now. So far, no cigar.

I got rid of the "New Weapon_VFXes", the new weapon effects one, because it's bugged. My acid weapon appeared as electrical and the cold weapons had no effect at all. Kinda disappointed because it looked nice, they just didn't work for the effect they were made for. Hopefully it gets fixed.

They worked for me. Make sure all of the files are actually in the override folder and not in their own (if you extracted it with Winrar, and didn't turn off path extraction, there's a good chance this is what happened). Happened to me at first.

The page mentioned CEP so that..might be why. *Shrug*

Also, which weapons are you using it on and not seeing the effect?
There's 242 files in that override, but at 7 effects / weapon it cannot be that all effects are in there (242/7 = 34.57, not a round number)
Can filter the correct ones out like that.

I removed the fire, electricity, acid (Acid does show up as electric. Fail), and negative VFX because I saw the massive lag potential.
I kept the ice because it looks very cool.
Other than that, everything is great.

Ravenloft's Skybox
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Te ... tail&id=62
From the Description:
Quote: The default Bioware skies somewhat disappionted me with their grainy look, so I wanted to make something that offered a bit higher detail, especially since the game is aging and most gfx cards should be able to handle more texture.
This does require more of the gfx cards, so only recommended for people with 128 mb vram. However, the actual performance/quality ratio is much higher than Bioware's because of less waste texture and better optimization.

Oh yes, been using those undead overrides for quite some time.
There's several more out there for other undead too, wraiths, ghouls, etc.
I'll see if I can find the links, or atleast put them up on the XenoCorp FTP and shoot ya'll a link.

If you're currently using the Baldur's UI and have noticed that the background for the Examine doesn't provide a good enough contrast for coloured text descriptions, try unpacking this to your override.

I don't know if it will work but try renaming the acid files to electrical and vice versa. (eg. waxbt_fxacid.mdl -> waxbt_fxelect.mdl)

nah, you have to create an acid effect .tga file.
go in the mdl files and link it to the acid effect rather then the electro one.
I was too lazy, so I deleted the whole lot

Well you could basically hit a wall as far as improving graphics and maintaining framerate is concerned, because unless NWN 1.69 updated the code to take advantage of newer shaders you're basically limited to however many old-style pipelines your graphics card can do. This is why for example, even though NWN 2 has more pretties, it will probably not make your graphics card work (and therefore heat up) as much as NWN 1 does.
Nutshell: Lots of pretties = lag o' doom unless you have a really powerful rig.

Force NWN to run SLI with decent cards. Works like a charm.

Well see there you have raw graphical power. Why have one graphics card doing the work when you can have two or more?

Here's a recolour override of The Fog. You know, the stuff that swirls around in the background if you log in to multiplayer.
If you want to do your own recolour, simply open the supplied TGA file in a painting program and go nuts with the hue slider.

The ravenloft skyboxes don't work for me. All I see are black and white stripes on the sky.

Props to those elf-thing-peoples.
I utterly love the forest, rural and still need to check out the winter. honestly interiors are dark enough that I don't want more. >.> I wasn't a big fan of the alterered grass. it just looked less 'lush and verdant' in forested areas than 'we've got a major case of crab grass' to me. Deleted the mdls marked grass to use the nwn original. The mix of the two looks rather remarkable.
*gives two cookies* Thank you all for finding the overrides!
