It would be good to see one of these 'freak' groups cause enough trouble to get 'freaks' banned from some of these cities. Chromatic Dragons are all 'we rule, you suck' aren't they? Let's see them get to together and make it happen, step up and embrace dradonhood. They care not for petty cities like Cordor right? So declare war on it's harboring of their arch enemies! What gives!?!

Fight! Fight! Fight!

I don't know enough about dragon lore to play one so I never have, but I would love to see them go Drow on everyone. Haven't they had enough of the pussyfooting? Grow a scaly scrotum dragons!

And that goes for the good dragons too!
Cordor offers sanctuary to Chromatics doesn't it!?! Where's your righteousness Wingy?

But if they got banned they wouldn't have a place to flaunt their alleged superiority anymore, would they?

Why would anyone cause trouble just for the sake of getting banned? You are asking people to shoot themselves in the foot for no good reason.

You are not even going to do it yourself, so...

Most of those kinds of chromatics got themselves banned already.

Annd, they wont ban all racial types for that, and the chromatics, to this point haven't been organized enough to get the dragons banned from Cordor.

Llothite drow however, did, but that took blowing the hell out of South Cordor if I recall correctly.

Well if anyone was smart, they wouldn't put themselves in a position to get banned from the largest and most central "gathering" hub on Amia without an alternative location that gets a bit of traffic to meet other players (which unfortunately is Wiltun. Kohl, Kampos, Brog, Wharftown and Underport are generally pretty quiet) They would choose to avoid it by choice rather then by force. Amia's size is both a blessing and a curse.

Getting banned from Cordor is overrated.

The only thing you'll miss out on is idling at the square, where nothing happens anyway.

Plenty happens, when you're not standing afk 3/4ths of the time.

It's a good 'meeting and head otherwise' place, like a mall.

No, what it is, is a place for pussy-lined characters to bitch at other characters while knowing they're safe from repercussions.

That, and a place where people sit/stand quietly, as they can't get their asses into gear for actually doing something.

Believe it or not, not everyone's character wants to go out slaughtering creatures all the time, and after achieving so much want to fill the void that has been left in the social and personal life, or feel that there is no point massacring 'monsters' who have done nothing wrong other than defend their airs since they'll just pop back up again, or that they might not have any grandiose plans to conquer the world and are just content with what the have.

Painting everyone with one brush ("everyone in Cordor is just there for pokegigglehuggle" for example) is just like saying "No powerbuilders are good at RP" or "PvP players don't give a damn about server rules".

I suppose there's always weddings to attend or relationship drama to act out.

So, you're right. Not everyone in Cordor is part of the poke-and-giggle crowd.

This is true too. If done ICly, I think it's perfectly reasonable - Xavi does it to Darthy. Catch 'em when they go outside...

If people are being throwing insults and words which may lead to a fight.. ergo: harassing those of other faiths or whatever.. its not truth, its bloody metagaming the guards that'd tell them to knock that nonsense off.

I stand by my guns - burn down Cordor. Someone :) Lets add another race to the banned list. The fewer people who can go there, the more the RP has to develop. I mean if I go to cordor for too long my fae starts talking 3rd person and my brain dissovles into chewing gum.

Whew. Sorry, guys, if some of us don't always have the time or the energy (or the desire) to spend our days figuring out an epic build so we can try to pwn the rest of the playerbase and call ourselves evil warlords.

Some of us like to stand around with our pussy-lined characters and never get our asses into gear. Just let us do our thing. We let you do yours!

The square in Cordor East ought to look more like the gardens in Cordor West. And there should be more cushions and rugs for people to relax on when the rain is pouring down. ;)

Sorry, that just seems wrong, imho ...

Chromatics don't need to _try_ to get banned. The _player_ needs to try to play Chromatics like the "Draconic freaks" they are and that should get them banned at some point.

And I don't see any real chromatic dragons coming to the main trade city Cordor, either ... *thundering dragon voice* "Oh, mercantilism is so much better than killing and hoarding!"

By the way, didn't we just chase out the Skullies?

Nothing. On Amia, everyone's entitled to do whatever they wish.

What I dislike, however, is when poke-and-giggle players bitch at those who farm epic bosses, since that's supposedly not a contributor to RP.

When the same players do nothing but socialize within their selected few as if it were a soap opera.

I respect that players do whatever they want to do. If that means sitting by themself on a bench in Cordor while being mute, or having husbands and childrends and ex-husbands and former ex-husbands becoming husbands, or farming über bosses for epic loot, or making 57 different characters, or devoting themself to a specific faction, then that's all OK.

But if that's what Amia is about, everyone is free to do what they enjoy the most, then half of the topics where one player tries to bitch at another for not playing the game as it should be, would be gone.

Well, that is if everyone respected one another.

In the end. We're playing in a DnD setting. However you may perceive it is fine, but don't nag on others for how they may perceive it.

And certainly don't bash the most fundamental aspect of DnD. Which is bashing monsters, striving to become an adventuring hero and staying true to their characters. Whatever those characters may be.

I would say "Nothing". (I'm far from a hardcore RPer ... )

However, some would surely point out that this is a roleplay-server in a FR setting and and that some combinations of character sheet & RP are not logical.

Anyway, my argument was that the characters wouldn't try to get themselves banned, but that the players could get their characters banned. Well, now I repeated it and that doesn't help ...

Ts

Elves standing around giggle-poking is probably just as unnatural as a set of people endlessly killing a beast over and over in the DnD world.

If it entertains, please, go ahead.

I admit, the giggle-poke <-> boss farmer bitching does go to exaggeration with the giggle-poke going to soft-cybering and the boss-farmers going endlessly marry-go-round-it-feels-more-like-work-then-fun. But as I said, if it entertains, go ahead as long as it doesn't break any rules.

I agree that it's two sides of the same coin.

It's not -my- preferred way of playing the game, but if others want to do it, I won't bitch about it.

That's the lesson this community needs to learn.

Accept your fellow players for what their preferences are and how they perceive their own characters and what they should be doing.

On the other end, it depends on the meaning you give it. Farming to get gold and items just to say you're strong...is a bit meaningless, true.

However,

Farming to get gold and items, for the sake or establishing a faction, an economic deal, of strenghtening the men under you, helping the city of cordor, of stockpiling magical mythals to create the most gigantic gnomic invention of all times.....

those are things that, done through farming, bring more rp repercussions than giggle-poking could do.

That, plus all my Chromatics only have a Quarter Dragon blood, so i doubt their most monstrous side would ever constantly be getting them in trouble, my main Chromatic has become a Travelling Merchant, so I can see him wanting to further his profits, rather than up and charging at Metalics, he would gain more from trade, than rooflessly killing, from his perspective.

Also the fact i RP'ed all the way through, him training himself to concentrate deeply and have self-control, which i would consider a success, i RP the fact he has Auto-quicken a result of it, among other things, it would take much more than a taunt or a provocative person to get him geared to kill them.

Dragons are intelligent, why would they allow themselves to be banned from somewhere alot of opportunities can and do arrise, at the very least, my Chromatics aren't as stupid to get themselves banned, from a place where high business traffic is, and that -doesn't- just mean Buying, selling and trade.

IMHO, i couldn't see something that's supposed to be so intelligent, going and charging at what you think in your opinion is right.

Many, many times i see people make messages like this, and every time i answer the same, people -Should- be able to RP their character however they want, and -can-, aslong as it is within the rules, i'm not breaking the rules by playing Chromatics as more calm, sly, set-back and observe rather than jump straight in.

Everyone has their own RP style, and i know i wont be changing mine for no one, other than if it breaks rules.

And not only would being banned from a City IC'ly for whatever reason, be an IC problem, it can become an OOC headache.

That's a reason why i avoid getting into such, i've been involved in fights in South Cordor as one of them, and IC'ly got away to avoid being caught, and i do this as little as possible, that time was only done because he saw an associate be attacked and killed, so my char got involved.

It is my choice whether or not i want to play my Chromatics as a cold blooded killer, who jumps right to the action, killing quick, not caring for ban or other consequences, or as Sly and cunning, sitting back, observing their weaknesses, incase of future conflict.

Sorry if these seems like a rant, but, it gets frustrating when you constantly see people saying things like that, asif they are telling people how to play their own character. Especially when, like me you think everyone should have the freedom to RP how they want, when they want, which they can.

Why do you have to resort to dirtying your claws to make money when your superior draconic intellect can outwit them and simply set in one place, making oodles of cash?

There's a very good reason, my half-red sets in Cordor. He has inspired folks to bring him gems. He gets gems there, for doing nothing, other than talking. How great is that?

The skullies got chased out because they lacked subtlety, and made a social faux pas in trying to turn the people of the city on the government which they very much like.

Expanding on what Tormak said:

Chromatics love proving their superiority. They're not godzillas with a hard on for shiny objects, they're clever, scheming, malevolent forces of greed that have plans spanning hundreds of years for continental domination at least to world domination or deification.

i agree with this
---
i'd also like to say that it would present more RP opportunities (to the banned people) rather than waiting for someone else to do something. too many times its treated like a giant-ass MMO where the game itself should provide the entertainment, but I believe it should be the players.

but hey, thats just me
