You don't get a paladin's mount, but you get to mount a paladin!

(Actualy, cybering's not allowed either.)

It is just disabled, not replaced with anything.

You can mount a paladin fade-to-black style, though. That's within the rules.

But yeah, we got riding disabled. No mounts, no nothing. Just a useless feat in your feat list.

I guess this wold be the golden rule: Any sort of mounting without fade-to-black is a no no on Amia. Whether riding a paladin's mount or mounting a paladin, you need to fade to black. >.>

Yes no mounts, as for the reason I recall it being that the script is utterly bugged and causes huge amount of lag.

I was once playing on a server with mounts. it was epic hardcore RP, few high lvl guys. for a mini DM event a nightmare (evil-to-the-core ponyta) was chillin around outside the city (probably doing something evil) and some naive elven girl decided to ride it around. A cute, happy little girl was riding an evil beast like it was her friend. all the paladins got reprimanded for not killing it. thats like 90% of the server.

Can't the feat instead be replaced with a "Summon Sphinx" spell? I think Paladins with a cute flying lion thingy would really suit the RP and give them back a feat they lose whilst on Amia.

A feat they didn't have before Amia started, so they didn't exactly lose it. The game was balanced (the verb 'to balance', not as an adjective) without the paladin having mounts

I'd love to see the feat used as a summon, but only as activated by DMs for good paladin RP.

You know, like how when DMs see bards or druids doing their RP well they get special widgets. The summon doesn't have to be anything nesc. powerful. Just a little perk and inscentive to play your paladins to the caliber of RP the class deserves.

Maybe even make them scale with Lvs of Paladin:

Latern Archon
Cherub (Halfling with wings and robey clothes)
Androsphinx/Genosphinx (dep on gender?)

Or make it BoT-able at epic levels?

Choose between Sephiroth from FF or Lenneth from Valkyrie Profile.

Paladins can get followers, who can be summoned to their aid.

Though, we don't need any fancy NPCs for that. Just get out there recruiting players as your crew, and you're set.

This is what my pally does, so instead of RPing his transits as sitting in the back of a cart or using a portal rod, I pretend he rides around the whole place.

Maybe Disco and Terra should look into enabling dm_mylittlepony for paladins. Then all you need is a pair of coconut shells and you're better off than King Arthur of Camelot.

If paladins and summons didn't go together, there wouldn't be a PnP celestial horsie summon, would there.

I understand all the hooplah(Hooplah!) about balancing and how paladins are already ubery enough, and how they should be fine enough already, but rp still stands. I see no valid reason why a good aligned deity -wouldn't- send one of his favored servants some aid.

Again, not that they -should- be sent some celestial back up, but rather if the servant proves worthy enough, I don't see how it can be argued that it couldnt happen. And really. Would the whole server come crashing down if the Lv 30 pally can summon a HD 12 Hound Archon once a day?

Hell, if it scares people that much, it could always be changed around to be rounds per level.

3 serious suggestions for Paladin Mount if it's implimented as a reward for good pally RP. Maybe even upon attainder of Crusader align title (100 Law, 100 Good).

1. Make it a "weak" summon that scales per level. Lasts rounds/pally level.

2. Make it like a bottled companion. Allow its appearance to be changed with a BoT page, or widget. (Things like "watcher" angel, squire, adoring bard  )

3. Just turn it into summon VI (summons an androsphinx for goodies).

Any other suggestions or insights? Other than "Leave it alone", which I know is going to be spammed anyway after it.... pally hatas. *sniff*

I say leave it. It wasn't needed before mounts got introduced to the game, and really isn't now.

For RP.

Not every change or modification in mechanics has to reflect a PvM or PvP balance issue. Such does not bode well with a RP server.

No one would be forcing you to use it. In fact, it would be a privilege even to have it, since it would be rewarded. I'm not sure if some realize that I, for the most part, am not arguing for it to be anything remotely battleworthy. The whole "we did fine without it" speal seems a bit misplaced when you could just as well say the same thing about PDK.

It's a 2-in-1 deal: a mount and a stick combined for the practical (or economically challenged, in times of recession) paladin.

Actually, no. All I was doing is asking for an implimentation of a summon to -replace- that one that paladins would have gained with the 1.69 update.

If the 1.69 update would have added a new bard/mage/druid/BG summoning spell to the list, would Amia have implimented it? As its base form, maybe, maybe not, I'd think. But if -not- as its base form, probably would have changed it to summon at least -something-.

Anyway, I've said my two bits. Between Nekhy's suggestions for stick ponies, however cute, and the general dislike of anything more being done for or taken away from pallies, I can see that this is going no where fast.

I think the major issue here is that Paladins really didn't need a summonable familiar type animal, and god forbid it'd have been as tough as the amian familiar/animal companions. Having played a Pally to 30, I'm a giant holy wrecking ball on my own.
