Erm, I was redirected here, but um, What directory exactly do we dump all our newly found Pics into??? I cant find any folder with several .tga files (cept meh screenies)

It's possible the name of your portrait is not on the list, but the file is still in pack. Before noting that, make sure if it appeared in game. If it did, it is included in the pack.

Some people think that their portrait is especial because they editted themselves, which might also make it unique as long as someone else doesn't have the same image editted the same way.
Ever since I started making the pack available, I already found two different characters using portraits that were included in the Amian pack.
The irony? Both were mine.
One I editted from one of NWN's original portrait so, it's pretty impossible that someone had a similar idea when editting their portraits.
The other I found at NWN's vault and anyone could have caught it, but the way I cropped the file would make it, to my thinking, a sign that it is one I am using.
Since I am not sure whether or not a DM can do something about people using portraits made and first used by other active characters, in order to avoid any more players picking portraits at random in character creation that might be a part of the Amian pack, I am going to make a few image files with the pictures included in the pack.
Some of the pictures will have the PC's name below it (I will put it there, myself) and those who don't are portraits from the old pack, which I am not sure to which character pertained.
I am making said files now. They might be available soon. I will use my screen resolution, but the files will be thumbnails to avoid screen stretching.
Anyway, stay tunned.

Yes, I warned the player in question. S/he apologized, but I am not sure if s/he will change.
All I can do now is hope and avoid that the same might happen to other PCs. I was going to change Rizzen's new picture soon, anyway. No biggy, though I will probably need to pay DCs.

On the other hand, I found two or three different pictures, both from old and new packs, that were Torin's ones.
Currently, still working on making the files with names and pictures of all PCs included in the portrait.
I could have printscreened from the portraits selection screen and make it faster, but I think some of the portraits are not showing. So, instead of clicking race by race, I am opening the "_H" files and making a collage with them.
It will take a while, but it will come soon.
I'll temporarly disable the links for download, just to avoid other people downloading them and risking creating a character using someone else's picture.

That was me -- I am sorry about it, and want to fix the situation. I'm willing to change my character's portrait or remake the character, but if you think you might be changing Rizzen's portrait anyway, I'll wait a short time so I won't waste my DCs.
Since I have generic portraits in my folder as well, I sometimes don't realize the difference between "generic cool portrait" and "portrait of one person's specific character." Sorry again for the trouble.

No worries, SBY. It was you, yes, but I didn't want to mention names. ^^;
Since you posted here, I might as well explain. It was just the initial shock to see that picture on another PC that made me a bit frustrated. I logged out to take a breather.
I am making a collage with each portrait and respective PCname, save the ones I don't remember or that were from the old pack, before I took over.
I will add these same files to the next packs and, hopefully, when people download it and uncompress the file, they might click on the .jpg one to see which are the portraits and then they will know which are of Amian PCs, not picking those during character creation.
Not at Amia, anyway.
I don't mind if one's using my portrait on other servers. It's just when it's used at Amia that it can be a shock. ^^;

I tested it yet again, as two more people complained to me it was not working.

The stupid website must have issues with some specific countries, dunno.

Here is the first batch of portraits and their respective PC names, included in Amia's pack. Took me a couple of hours to make these.
Tomorrow I will add the rest. They are 30+ image files. These are the first 15. Some images here are not in the previous pack yet, they will be in the pack that will come out in March.
Try not to pick those for your character, as they are already being used by another Amian.

I have no idea who sent it in but the elf one with grey eyes in the E pack has been Amenia Eletharion's for 15 months now (fifth pack down, fourth across on the top row).
In that time I've seen no one else with it.

So many of those are no longer used - I think the provision that people don't use them slightly unfair. Anyway, whats to say there aren't two people who look very alike on such a diverse and populous place as Amia?

I think it should be stated that it is recommended not to use the portrait, not to keep from using it indefinately.
With the portrait I use for Jack, I admit, I took it from the character portraits section in PC stories. The only difference is that the character who originally had it looked -similar- to it. I've based Jack COMPLETELY around it. The hair, the clothes, RP items, even his bio.
I've seen others with the portrait, and I complimented them on such a great taste in portraits, not scolded them for "stealing" it. The fact that someone gets their name counted in the files as it being -their- portrait is credit enough, they shouldn't get it strictly for themselves if they're going to post it so everyone has it.

The problem is some of these are manually edited by the Amians who put them up there, and they put them up so that others cold see them, rather than to use them.

Possibly, someone could make a topic with thumbnail sized pics of a portrait, which the owner would have to post, asking other people not to use their portrait, otherwise people aren't going to know that the maker doesn't want them to use it, 'cause they aren't psychic, i admit, i have used one of the portraits which is player submitted, never crossed my mind that they may not have wanted me to use it.
the idea of people posting a portrait, makes you think that it's there for everyone else to see and use (Or that's what came to mind with me atleast.), which is now obviously not always the case.

Yeah, that would be reasonable. But then again it isn't realistic to expect people who have been using portraits for a year now to just drop them because someone else wants them back.

Personally, if i posted a portrtait, i wouldn't mind if someone else used it, but if i did mind, i wouldn't really expect or ask them to change it.
My previous post was more a suggestion for the future, to prevent people to not use specific portraits which people like to keep unique, not to make people that already did do this change them. But i see what you mean, agree completely and such.

Despite quoting Numbers here, I mean the following as a general reply, not only to what he said.
Feel free to use those portraits of PCs who are no longer active.
However, do not come complaining to me later (or the DMs) if the player comes back and "confront" (cannot find the right word here) you about his/her portrait being used by your PC. If it ever happens, that is something to be solved between you and said person.

The entire point of these files I posted, is for people to know which portraits in their portrait folder are being used by amians, active PCs or not.

I actually saw the portrait I made for Valas in two random portrait packs I got of the net, different name and all. It actually made me feel quite good that someone liked it enough to include it.
I don't think I can claim ownership of it really, seeing as I did not really draw it, just edited a picture I got of deviant art.

None of mine are actually mine, either. All of them are edits of pictures I got from a website.
Most of them only got minor edits and I don't mind if those ones are taken.
I just feel frustrated if the one taken needed more than minor edits to get as close to what the character would look like. For instance, Auron's picture took me some three hours to be editted, as I am not a Photoshop expert and it took me a while to find the right tools to work with.
One cannot avoid having someone using their portrait, unless if they keep it only for themselves and send them to their closest friends only.
It just was a shock to see someone else using the same portrait, as I editted that one myself and it was unique, since I modified it from an original portrait on NWN's default pack - yes, I am going to get a new one soon, just mentioning this to illustrate what I am trying to say.
What I am trying to say is that, most of the times, unless one finds and uses one of those many overused pictures out there, the portraits are the only way you can show people how your character is, since the engine has limited heads and hairs and stuff. It is, most of the times, the only way to make your character unique.

That's why I don't enjoy giving my portraits for a server portrait pack... since sooner or later someone will end up making a character with the exact same portrait as my own. Therefore I only send my portrait to people who actively rp with me... the rest won't be missing a thing if they don't see my portrait and it greatly reduces the chances of me ever finding a clone around.
Then again, 99% of my portraits are edited by Midnight from random images we find on the internet, so if anyone got angry at it, it'd be her, since she's the one spending time editing.. haha >_> Shame on me.

If the PC portraits are placed in the over-ride instead of the portraits folder, they aren't selectable at the creation screen, but can still see the players portraits in game. That's if people are willing to put them into override folder and not portraits folder though.

That's a very clever idea. I'll be doing this as soon as I separate them from the other ones in my portrait folder.
Edit; Why not just put that with the download? 'Place the files in your override folder.' People usually listen to stuff like that, if they want it to work. >.>

Just finished separating the Player Submitted portraits from the portrait folder, over 700, and i still have 1281, which i've made myself, or downloaded from other places. Lol
