To put simply, my brother and i have been tossing around the idea of maybe making a webcomic / web story book about adventures in Amia. While we dont have anything set in stone, but both see the problem when it comes to credit and permission to start such a thing.
So on behalf of both of us, im posting to get a bit of feedback on the idea. Yay? Nay? we'd like to hear all points of veiw, and if you might like to be apart of it (either character wise or actually helping make it) we'd be glad to hear it.
But first, we want to be sure we have permission to start this...

My characters are currently under writ not to take part in your web comic. Currently they are involved in an Ensemble Sitcom based in Wiltun called "Mates".

Feel free to use Spooks for a strip or two, provided you can do him justice.

You should inculde Shada, the Gold half dragon healer of Salandran, that just doesnt seem to want die. for a strip or two, that everyone thinks is insane.

Besides, WHERE is he supposed to get the info of all the characters??
It would take a goddamn year to get the info of all the characters you guys have.

Then kill her off at the end.

I would say you could use my characters, but they're not too popular.

What's wrong with a parade of cameos? Come on, who hasn't seen their name in a player written short story and smiled? Everyone likes attention, so why not let baby have its bottle?

The former makes the story more enjoyable for a group of insiders who get it. It's lively, and probably easy to make. The latter opens it for a larger audience, however, and it's more likely to stand the test of time. There may not be a Qirlan, Xaviera or a Valas in a year, but there probably will be the snobby sun elf, the lesbian courtesan and the drow ranger.
It's the artist's call, though. I doubt it's fun to do stuff on player demand.

Will you and your friend make the characters in Amia and play them too? Might be a great way to get some materials. Oh and it would be better not to use pc character names in it, just allude to them. Good luck

Thank you all for your input and view, we're glad to announce that we're going to do our best to try and push forward with this idea but to clear up a few things before we do.
1.Cameos: These will -only- be done with important NPC characters (people like griff and hil'rash). This is because, as stated before, to collect all the information on a character to add to the story would take a long time and to be honest, we're not that hardcore of researchers.
Edit: i also want to note about fairness in these comics, if we cameo one person we'll more than likely have to cameo 20 more because of jealousy and issues like that. So to keep things fair, we're going to do our best to avoid that.
2. General information: We kinda want to incorperate many aspects of amia life. Not just hunting and adventuring but things like social interaction and maybe a few serious stories.
3(tied in with 2): The idea for this first is thought to be a collection of short stories / comics about various kinds of characters (again names will more than likely be made up ones) in various situations UNTIL (yes note this well, as we are still in the process of making this) we can get a nice story layed out and can make characters for a true story.
4: (in reguards to one question in particular): There is a chance we will build the characters and play them for a bit on amia, but that'll most likely be just for character build research and wont interact too often with actual players (though we will RP them a bit).
5: to any other questions about this i'll try and answer them as best i can, but overall, keep in mind that this will most likely be a slow processes as we dont even know how we're going to set up the whole thing (weather though a website, or try and post things here on the forums itself)
Thank you for your patients and if you have any other thoughts, comments (no spam please), or concerns i'll try and address them on my next forum visit.

How will this affect important PC roles such as leaders of Factions that affect everyday amian life, would be involved in your stories and such like.

We wont do any -serious- changes without a DM's permission. If NPC's are included in the comic or stories they'll be as mentions as an example:
After a long day of exploring the Kolbold caves, ((insert name for generic mage class here)) goes to the market hall to show Hil'rash his/her finds, and then promptly takes those earnings and heads to the Nomad, where after a small conversation with Griff, buys a cup of ale and a sandwhich and relxes for a while.

You do realize you probably know less about those NPCs than you do other people's characters and your odds of misrepresenting them are evenn higher, right?
Also, is this a webcomic "ha ha" or a webcomic "this are serious thread"?
If the former, you will likely have zero views very soon because the competition for the funny is fierce and the odds of drawing away views from CAD, Penny Arcade, etc etc for your incredibly niche comic are slim to none. Also, for the love of god, please be funny. Do not be Boston and Shaun.
If the latter, you will have an even harder time attracting views because simply put: Fewer people read the drama webcomics than the funny webcomics.

I think that while it might be funny to lampoon some Amianisms (like those guys you see who are dressed head to toe in flat black) you might not have enough material to do a recurring web comic if you base it rigidly on Amia.
The Noob, for example, borrows elements that are particular to several MMORPGs, but establishes the aptly-titled Clichequest as a mix of those various elements.
