This is the Mulhorand, Unther and Chessentian interest thread, where players with middle-eastern characters can congregate and join in, not as opposing factions, but as storytellers, each painting a different part of a portrait.
I am currently seeking people to flesh out not only the Guardians of Skuld, but Mulhorand in general, by creating characters with histories in Mulhorand, with Mulani backgrounds. This is also the thread for discussing collaborative efforts on Bmia, specific to Khem.

Technically, the greeks (Chessentians) somehow teleported down besides us, which means we are...also Mediterranean! So there! You unwashed heathen!
We've got a great little group going, more joining, ongoing conflict with room for expansion. We've got two different towns to squabble between, and a splatter of other locations perfect for clandestine meetings and other roleplay.
Its far too hot for cyb@r.

Greenskins have no real urge to interact with desert dwellers. There's no resource in the desert that can actively contribute to a war effort unless you're the artillery kind of person with all those sandstone cliffs as the ammo.

I say we get in a gigantic robot centipede that shoots insanely hot fire from it's head, and try and turn the whole desert to glass.
Alternatively, Arg could find a magic carpet, a princess and a big blue genie played by Robin Williams, and go on a magical adventure to save Khem from the evil magician Jafar and his evil talking parrot.
We could also go to every piece of cliff face and say the magic words "Open Sesame". Perhaps we will find the 40 thieves, though likely just a bunch of tanned flagger's moonlighting.

Aladdin is persian and the 40 thieves are arabian. Khem is infinately egyptian. Wrong genre my friend.

Persian works. Unther is Persian themed, as far as I can tell. We ought to distance Khem from too much real-world comparison, because it still is a unique fantasy realm, despite the obvious theme.

Well for starters, I notice Khem has Desert Riders, which are directly from the Zahkaran setting, so Iron angel is right, it seems like a real mixture of the Faerunian desert settings in one spot.
I could imagine Cali-shite.s being at home there too (since they're a major subrace of Amia). That is, there'll be plenty of different desert pc's who would wish to settle in Ne'sek or Djedet or elsewhere and would probably like to fit into the setting somehow...just like how on Amia, you've races from all over temperate faerun finding their little niches.

I'd be cautios to say every subrace that has a desert as its home to be found or welcome in Djedet/Khem. Its under Mulhorand influece and I'd be curious how Mulan's view other human subraces, since they are quite xenophobic, after all. My character welcomes every peaceful traveler, just a thought.

That's not what I meant, at all. If there are NPCs with names similar to those found in Zakhara, it's coincidence. The island has a very real geographic location, with very real cultural influences and a written history. I think you should base your ideas on Realmslore and not real-world history and culture, that's what I'm getting at.
It's not under Mulhorandi political rule today, however (at least I don't think so), and it's also been under Untheric rule, so there's a variety of folks living there. Chessentans, though they're often considered outsiders by the high-brows, Untheric and Mulhorandi folks, obvious Thayan people too, and miscellaneous people from surrounding regions. PCs, of course, can stay wherever they want, but there are no Calish[size=0].[/size]ite, Zakharan or Anaurochan NPCs there.

There is almost no lore or background available for Khem. I would love it if someone was able to provide abit of story in regards to ownership, government and the like.

Actually, first one was a reference to a T.V. episode of Aladdin. Mechaniclese to be precise. Though I believe Khem itself is egyptian yes, it's culture and people seem to also have a dab of persian and arabian to them, as I don't see any gigantic empires constantly being taken over by there neighbours and betraying there gods and beliefs for there occupants.
But fine, let me part the sea then, or find a gate to another world to open. Better yet, let me begin building inane pointy objects in a gigantic flying saucer.

As far as I'm concerned, Khem has no authority, and no ownership from within or without. It is not too hard to pick out why if you explore everything and begin to put a few pieces together.

Desert Rider. Warrior discipline; common nomad with fighting skills. Desert riders are skilled in mounted combat and expert at survival in the desert.
It was one of the main kits in Al-Qadim's setting, along with Mamlukes and Corsairs and Faris. So to see them in Khem is most wonderful!

You do realise that its already been stated in this thread the name was purely coincidental and bears no relevance to anything other than a name for the NPC's that ride on the back of things that look glaringly similiar to those things from star wars.
