i have 4 chars 9th src, 9th clr, 12th CoT and a 9th ftr/clr and i can not solo on any of the serverB area's. the point of hunt in a party is null because there isnt anyone on there who is in my level range.

the point was raised that there is no A and B, its all the same Amia, just a question of space, well obviously the popular area's are all on A. i wonder if anything north of the minmir bridge could be pulled across? to get more players on B there needs to be more for them to do.

obviously that means RPing or hunting. hunting is either invent more islands or bring something over. RP from what ive seen is based on people milling around Cordor and then moving on from there .. (i play no drow or underdark so no idea whats on down there! .. infact why not move the underdark stuff to B?)

Again .. the problem with people filling up A and only a handful on B means that A has all the goodies. Sure B has some really cool stuff but obviously its missing that one special place

== on a side note my laptop has a problem with the colours on B so the fort, that undead/demon town is all white, maybe other people have this problem and that puts them off? ive also been into the cellar several times and found nothing when i did so.

btw i love amia so much, i just brought CoD5, spent 30mins xboxlive had dinner and then went on Amia! thats how much i love it :)
DM's dont get enough thanks too!! *claps* thanks guys and gals!!

Could agree with moving the Underdark to B, but its kinda hard to cut the Amia isle in half. I say we put Cordor to B :) Then people would hang in B more than they just stand in Cordor Square and basically does nothing.
:P

The two server system is rather hard as it separets the two from each others rather well, on a busy night you cant logg into A if you visit B.

And I do wonder what happened to the Weave Knights.. There was plenty of them before the server split.. did they give up as they were moved to B? <.<
Brogenstain dwarfs remain loyal to their home.

Whats more in B... umm nothing? Spires good hunting grounds, for epics, but in A you can hunt Yuanti.. so.. no need to come to B..

Actually I cant see any other reason to come to B for my chars than either hunt or do some doplomacy with dwarfs. Thats all.

Seems most of this is between your ears, folks, and I can't help with that.

One part of Amia's design that impressed me was how the low-level areas were right around the starting city, and as you slowly moved outward the areas got harder. That made it easy to explore as a new player.

I'll ask the same question once again: did you actually play (ie: explore) the server? The critters in Frozenfar are between CR 8 to CR 16, that's true. There is another starter region for the CRs below it, though. It starts exactly one conversation from the exit.

A fair amount. In Wiltun I did the goblins under the stairs quest and the Bugh's tooth quest. In the desert place I did the minotaur quest and the antidote quest, and got the spider eggs but am still trying to figure out what the heck to do with them. On Forrstakkr I completed the missing children quest, the stone tablets quest, the killing Ljot quest, the bringing the book to the dragon quest, the delivery to the monastery quest, the loaf of bread delivery quest, and the bread ingredient quest.

From the mid-teens all the way up to level 30 I'd estimate that I played on the B server more than the A server (although since I was scared away from Khem early -- those bandits are vicious! -- I still have uncompleted quests there).

I'm not sure if we're talking at cross-purposes. I wasn't talking about whether the areas existed or not, but the way that you first pass through easier areas to reach harder areas.

If that IS what you were responding to, then I clearly didn't understand your answer, and your point about my lack of familiarity with the server is well-taken!

You get into the lowbie areas with a few clicks of the mouse from the gates of Wiltun. Admittedly, it takes a different approach to exploring an area than most have got used to on A. Hint: you explore most of the areas on B in the same way. Or, there's a pattern to it, and once you get the "Eureka!" on that pattern, you'll realise just how lazy and accustomed to the old patterns you are. Talking from personal experience here.

I think the issue is that you can easily get into areas suitable for level 20s in Amia B, while starting in Cordor is a relative no-brainer. Perhaps it would help if I'd add some NPC in Wiltun that gives directions for newcomers?

actually disco, I recomend you don't. I like exploring, and it doesn't take that much learning to figure out what is good for you or not, just takes some time. I prefer it without the guides.

If you like exploring dont click the NPC's? There are entirely new players that may enter B at some point or another and without the right guidance we will forever be holding this discussion.

Personally I think that the best way is to just get off your characters lazy duff and walk around...talk to the NPC's and do something proactive. Everyone is always talking about this or that isn't realistic, but if you were out there in real life you wouldn't know where anything is without actually looking for it. Yes I know you have the internet and all that, but think about it. Go and ask one of those PC's that are walking, or standing in Wiltun when you get there on where you can go. I am sure they would love the RP experience, and most older players are very willing to help a new one out.

Sorry if this didn't make a lot of sense it is 8:30AM and I still havn't been to bed yet.... Anyways feel free to ask one of my characters when you see them on as most of them has taken the time to explore ALOT of the areas on Bmia.

I wouldn't be opposed to an NPC that pointed newbies in the right direction, it's certainly better then them wandering off and getting slaughtered over and over until they decide they don't want to play on B amia anymore.

And on the note of asking older characters... I find most people trying to get directions or asking people to show them something get ignored more often then not... Also, you can't exactly ask IC "Hey, where's the level 7 monsters around here?"

The thing about Amia B is that the XP per critter is slightly less but the spawns are numerous and that soon adds up. People are just lazy, get off their arses and explore. If something's too hard, run like heck! Its really not so hard...I don't see the need to change it.

I can't see why its so hard to walk out front gate turn right and speak to the man next to the fishmonger lady at low levels.

Well the biggest reason why I dont come to Wiltu is:

Error..

Its named like this: Excepetion Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b4bf7c 7 75b4bf7c 75b4bf7c

I need to click it way too many times and usually takes me about 1 min, at least, to get inside to Wiltun.

Why does everybody knock B? I've always had excelent RP on there, experienced interesting DM interaction and it has some nice areas.

Sure it's quite limited at the moment, but it's brand new.. give it time folks and thank Disco for his efforts in building it.

If you're RPing just to get DC's you're doing it wrong.

You have a Mac? There's some comments about the new tileset and Macs in the BioWare forum. You may want to try updating your drivers as well. Anyway, my suggestion would be to go to the BioWare support forum and have a look around.

I reckon it'd be slicker if the transport NPCs *coughlevelcheckcough* 'looked at your equipment with their practised mercantile eyes' and asked lowbies if they were really sure they wanted to go there.

"I dunno if you're kitted out right for fighting in these parts, lad"

"How very dare you! I am a mighty warrior of might and war."

"Well, okay, but that necklace round your neck..."

"What about it, camel-man?"

"It's only got +1 written on the side of it."

"Oh...right. Back to Endir's Point then?"

"Only if you don't like that place with the big talking stones"

I'd not have it totally restricted, the way the old Brog/Kohl boats were, but having to run through a warning conversation before being taken ought to work.

For that matter, maybe the chaps opening gates for you in town could drop a similar hint. Rather than grumble about being patient, they could grumble about how impendingly doomed you were as they open the door.

I like the idea of warning messages ... hard to keep a livelihood if your passengers keep dying.

Customer is always right, so you could still ignore the warnings and travel.

"One ticket to Certain Death, please."

"That name's not a joke, you now."

"Yes, yes, I read about it when I drank a potion of Lore."

"Riiight."

"I'll pay in advance."

"Oh! Saddle up, boys, we're going to Certain Death. Well, we'll stop just off the spawn points, if that's okay."

"Grand."

I took a trip to Frozenfar tonight with a well built half-orc barbarian 2/fighter 4/wm 1, which should have a quite good chance of surviving if the CR is aound 9, as stated from the DM:s.

The absolutely first hostile encounter in Frozenfar was on the ice of a lake, four witches and two vixens. First round, I hit one of the vixens but made low damage due to it's 10p damage reduction (equal to the werewolves in foret of despair). Then they attacked with:
2 thunderbolts (16 and 25p electrical damage)
1 fear howl (I made the save though)
4 melee attacks which had +17 to hit and made both cold and slashing damage. In all, I was killed this first attack. I never made a second even though I have 2 attacks/round at level 7.

Saying that it's possible to hunt solo in Frozenfar for character below say level 16 is something I would say is a lie. Since it's possible to hunt solo as a level 7+ fighter in A in: Amia Forest, troll crags, blood moon pass, beetle hills (what ever it's name was), Howling pass, arachnaid valley and so on, I must say that I will stick to Amia A in the future too. If you want level 8-12 to stay in Amia B, you really should change the enemies. Getting slaughtered in the first encounter (smack at the entrace) isn't fun at all.

(hint: let them have just one kind of elemental damage, no fear, no damage reduction, and it could at least be possible to survive the first encounter, if correct prepared)

perhaps you should party up? and it is possible to solo on amia B, I have done it before as a low level. But if you can't solo it try working in a group.

I sometimes think people just want to one shot all that comes before them and not take a single bit of damage instead of having a challange or working with others.

Alright... this is getting ridiculous. If you take an alternative route, and travel past 4 areas from the starting location and then go into unknown territory you might indeed get into trouble. I am quite sure you can also get into that kind of trouble if you start in Bendir Dale and run into a random direction like a headless chicken.

However, if you'd checked the other gate of Endir's Point (you know, like following the road out of town) you'd found CR 9 Trolls within one transition.

Frostmere is indeed CR 13/14, out of the top of my head, and we're still tuning it a bit.

I managed to solo the trolls at level 7 too. It's all about tactics.

If you folks are really wanting to get an enemy group down with one hit, then you already started the wrong way.

Think before acting. Use ranged weapons to attract one enemy at a time, use the terrain... hells, thinking can also be fun, you know?

The absolutely first hostile encounter in Frozenfar was on the ice of a lake, four witches and two vixens.

Um....so go the ~other~ direction out of Endir's Point? There's a much lower CR area to the east. Several in fact.

Saying that it's possible to hunt solo in Frozenfar for character below say level 16 is something I would say is a lie. Since it's possible to hunt solo as a level 7+ fighter in A in: Amia Forest, troll crags, blood moon pass, beetle hills (what ever it's name was), Howling pass, arachnaid valley and so on,

As has been stated above, the trolls which you don't seem to have encountered, despite them actually being only one transition away from Endir's Point, are the EXACT same trolls as from Amia A. After the trolls there are wyverns, barbarians, and some other nifty things.

Also as has been said, if you just run off in one direction from a place on A, you can easily run into fatal trouble. Soloing is always a risk - you can never be sure that what you are running into isn't going to be too hard for you (and possibly instantly fatal), unless you've already been there before.

Considering that soloing is not an intended design aspect, if you die doing it, you really can't complain. But running into one spawn in one area, which is higher CR than you were anyway, is hardly the way to determine if the entire server full of area's and monsters is too hard or not. It just means you should try elsewhere.

actually disco, I recomend you don't. I like exploring, and it doesn't take that much learning to figure out what is good for you or not, just takes some time. I prefer it without the guides.

Yeah, exploring is a lot more fun the way it is now. I remember spending hours just running around and checking all the places i could find.

Alright... this is getting ridiculous.

Hmm, I just followed the road, didn't know that I could go in the other direction. This brings up a valid point though, why not having easier critter at the two(?) points where you enter the wilderness? And then, more and more dangerous ones the further in you get into the wilderness? I mean, when I leave Cordor, I don't want to/expect to run into werewolves at the first encounter? I expect wolves, boars and goblins. Or, if the area is made so you start at the trolls, walk around and finaly end up where the frost witches are (hardest area) and after that going to the inn to sell off lot and get some warm ale, I also understand the thought behind Frozenfar. But then, there should be some kind of warning sign or a NPC to speak with if you, like me, start in the wrong end.

Because I made this back route so higher levels don't have to cross the lower areas to get to the higher ones, thereby killing stuff for lower levels. The A server has exactly the same shortcuts. From Bendir Dale you're in Troll territory in one transition, and on the top of the Skull Crags in two (via Amia Forest). That's a steeper CR jump than here as well.

Agree, I brought in a level 10 druid/level 3 dwarven defender and went east instead to explore. Trolls, spiders and such gave 1 xp, just as expected, but when I reached the volcanoe, things became both exciting and rewarding. Those tribesmen are nice and the dwarf ghosts are awesome. Two times, I was left for dead, only kept alive due to regenerating items and the ghosts chasing summons of mine. Their respawn rate must be doubled too, making me believe that safe areas were safe while they weren't. But since they gave 35 xp each, I got 210 xp for a group, quite tempting for keeping me exploring the lost dwarven mines over and over again. Finally, I went through and could end the adventure in civilized areas.

It's indeed a well made part of Amia and with the thought of easy - hardest depending on route, it can be wise to have a shortcut for the level 12+ character. Still, I miss some kind of warning or hint. Can't the wood chopper in the first village just say "Hey, if you aren't tough enough, I would go east for collecting wood" or something. And for a druid, there are no animals to dominate at all, anywhere. Odd for such large wilderness area.

Thanks! :D

About the animals: simply didn't think of them. I had a few ideas that I really wanted to use (the winterlings village, the wyverns, the UD set for a mountain) but besides that I simply added stuff at a whim.

Q.F.E

It may be easier to level on A but theres less people on B giving the freedom to -take your time-.

I were around in A, hunting with different parties last weekend.
-Skullcrag trolls, stand in line for hunt.
-Forest of Despair - dito
-Trog mound - Dito
-Orcs - Dito
-Swamps outside Kohlingen - dito
-Spires - dito (in B though)

So what are making these places so interesting and not the other? I mean, blood moon orcs, Lumoiere coast, Yuan-Ti caves, Bugbear Castle, beholder caves, Minmir bridge and so on were quite deserted. My thoughts?
-These areas are easy to farm with more or less pure fighter characters
-It is possible to solo them
-They are easy to reach
-They give much XP for not that high effort

So, if you want more peole to come to Amia B you should make a lot of areas that are:
-Easy to reach
-Suitable for levels 10-16 (seems to be the most common range for farming areas)
-Not that hard to survive for a solo character that isn't a powerbuild
-Give nice treasures, preferable a boss loot in the end that is useful for players in that level range.
-Give good xp
-Not that many casters, and those who do cast spells wont throw anything incapacitating like hold person, confuse, stun or other spells that make it hard for a solo fighter class to survive.

So, now you tell me that it's just too easy and no one will go there if it's like that, but I say you're wrong. The mix of troll types now in Frozenfar is not the best, making it hard to survive at the same time as you get low XP. I think the xp for trolls is nerfed somehow. The wywern spit is hard to dodge at lower levels and bring too much damage too fast and the wyverns come in huge packs. The ice valkyrias are just too mean with all their magical and physical damage at the same time, making a to steep curve between the areas. The only area in the range that is as I wrote is in fact the volcanoe area with its caves and mines below. But then, it's not that easy to reach. I don't say that the areas are created in a bad way, but they will remain a bit silent there (I think) since it is not a better hunting ground (for XP) in B than A, just a slight bit worse. And that is enough to keep people from coming from AmiaA to AmiB.

The crypt in the Ankh'remun desert is a good example. Before, there were undead everywhere in it. They gave good XP and were not that hard to bring down. You had to stand in line (literaly) to get there and it was a very popular place for level 14-18 to hunt in. Now, it's almost only stingers, just a few remaining ghosts remain The stingers are nasty, use incapacitating magic and poison. Even though the XP is not that bad, the effort to fight under constant threat of dying after next lost save makes it not worth it. Thuse, it's quite deserted now. I went there with a lvel 16 pure cleric yesterday. We were a party lvl 13-16, but after we had died too many times, we considered it to be just too hard compared to the xp earned and left. That has never happened in Forest of Despair

One thing about the troll cave however, I think the AI is broken. Half the time you can tackle one monster at a time because they refuse to move and attack you. I've noticed it most with the spitters.

Disco is rolling over in the fryer right now, because they are the exact same trolls as on Amia A.

Between the ears, ID-10-T, "Lrn2play", Can't script for player incompetence, etc etc.

I did change the AI of the Trolls, though. The stats are exactly the same.

This may sound like a silly question, but if porting isn't available and A is full, is there any way for a drow to get to Brog? (I just need a yes/no)
