Written in an elegant elven scripture, the following notice is presented in anywhere that could be considered 'plain view' throughout Winya.

To the fine citizens of the city of the Fair Folk,

Long have we survived without a leader to guide, a governing body to give direction, or even a goal to grant us dedication to a path.

These times are no more my friends, as the times for the election of a new council are upon us! A council, composed of five figures, shall lead the fair city of Winya Ravana and allow us to take a step into becoming a thriving, true city of the Fair Folk.

The candidates are written below, as they recieved nominations for positions on the council.

Yamael
Beliander Hath'narviel
Mebrinade Ameshalen
Aergis Ara'Arivae
Elvorfilia Di'reyja
Qalyr Ferelie

They are free to step down from the voting and nominations as they please, and need only say so to myself. For all other purposes, every citizen of Winya Ravana has the power to vote for four people, in order of preferance, for who they would wish to have within the Council of Winya Ravana.
Nominations are still being taken, and anyone gaining two or more by the end of this tenday shall be granted a place among those to be voted for at the conclusion of this tenday, at which point each candidate shall have a speach prior to the voting of all of Winya.

May the Elf Lord give us the strength, determination, and will to make this Council, and Winya, more magnificent than ever before.

To the fine citizens of the city of the Fair Folk,

Only five days remain for nominations to be presented and speechs to be prepared! On the dawn of the next month, beneath the morning sun and the gaze of the Elf Lord, the speeches shall be spoken to all of Winya Ravana.

And then, the voting shall begin, as the sun begins to set beneath the distant horizon.

The candidates gather around the lifestone in front of the citizens of Winya, guards, adventurers, and humble tradesmen alike listening intently to each with the courage to speak.

"Brothers and sisters, Te’Quessir of Winya Ravana.

Much to my delight, I have been nominated to take part in the wise Council of our home. Even though surprised, I do not wish to turn down such an offer. Any chance to aid our people is one worth taking.

Some of you already know me, and others might not. An introduction is surely in order. I am Beliander of house Hath’narviel – a humble yet faithful family from Evereska – and I have arrived to Amia on a mission in defense of my other home. It has been postponed and I have decided that I best aid the cause of the People by staying here. I am a priest of the mighty Creator Father, Corellon Larethian, and a member of the knightly order, Swords of Evereska. My experience as an advisor and a commander would prove useful in Winya Ravana’s Council. I can help here more than I can help in Evereska, right now.

Despite my relatively young age, I have seen many things. I have seen the fiendish attack on Evereska and the destruction of the beautiful city, and I have seen the start of its rebuilding. I have seen countless battles when hunting for enemy patrols in the vale, and I have seen the prosperity of peaceful days.

Those days are what I wish to bring to Winya, as well. I have come to understand that Amia is an insane and dangerous place that offers few places for the People. Winya Ravana is the most important of such sanctuaries, and I want to protect the elfhome. We are raided by drow and belittled by fiends, and we don’t know what to do. But with Corellon’s guidance, we can find out. With the new Council, we will discuss and think about our daily problems, and eventually come to the right decisions.

We need to stay strong, proud and wise. After all, we are the Tel’Quessir, those who live longer and see more than any human does. We cannot forget who we are and what we are supposed to do. We must be the ones to set an example and make the right decisions, honouring our traditions and the Seldarine. And that is what I am here to do."

Mebrinade Ameshalen wrote:

Mebrinade walks up, nodding to each with a smile, before saying her few words

"The city of Winya Ravana needs leaders, people to remain strong, and to hold the strength of our city with a calm and balanced gaze. If I am to be one of these, this trickster of the Fey Jester, Erevan Ilesere, then I shall trust in those within this city to make that decision."

And with that, she heads off into the crowd to listen to the others.

Gillaria takes in a soft breath, looking out over the crowd. She is clad in a simple robe of seafoam green accented with mithril filligree at the cuffs. A small almost grateful smile crosses her lips as she opens her mouth to speak,

"First, allow me to say I am honored by this nomination. I would not be here before you if I did not feel that I was wished in this position.I thank you for the opportunity to serve my home and yours in this capacity."

"Winya is the first place I have truly felt at home since I left the Hullack forest of Cormyr when I was barely into my second century. To this day I still remember my first sunrise over Nexus Falls. It is one of my fondest reveries, that feeling of utter relief that here I would be safe, that here I could escape the noise and commotion and the hard stones upon stones of humanity."

"I know that there may be many of you here who would question my loyalty to our home because of my current position within the City of Cordor. I can only say this: I do what I must do to ensure the stability of the island's main port."

"We are not isolated on this island. The Retreat taught us that we can not simply fade away and wait.. that we must be in this world if there is going to be hope for this world at all. The world is better off with elves and with faeries."

"Again, I thank you for the nomination and hope only that you can look beyond my current duties. At the end of the day, this is where I take those last calming breaths of moonlight. This is my home. Thank you."

She smiles and nods her head, withdrawing to the side.

'Citizens of Winya Ravana, the choice is up to you. We seek five members of our own who will govern our fair city. If that is to be me, then I shall serve the city to the best of my abilities.

Yamael nods once, keeping his words suprisingly short, and then sits down again.

The process of government being formed in this election is the greatest unifying event that Winya Ravana has seen in a great length of time.

Some of you may know me, others may not. My name is Aergis Ara'Arivae. I am a Holy Warrior of the fine lady Hanali Celanil. My actions are always guided out of respect and admiration for the noble Seldarine.

As a councilor I would be capable of assisting in delivering the full degree of responsible leadership that our City needs. The Fair Folk always have been recognized for our superior thinking and logical decision-making. I can represent this characteristic of our diverse elven population properly, and offer an appopriate but necessary degree of controversy to assure that multiple sides of each question addressed in the Council's precedings are taken into consideration in producing the best result for our City of Winya Ravana.

As a warrior of Hanali Celanil, I would not be putting myself forward for consideration in this position if I did not feel that I could act in the best interest of our treasured home during these changing times.

My promises to this City, are to always act in the interest of producing a safe place that our residents can proudly call home. I promise also that I shall always behave with noble respect and honesty, knowing that if I am elected my actions, decisions, and very words will reflect the trust of all my kin. A responsibility that I do not take lightly, and that I will always strive to honor.

If you do, or do not decide to honor me with a position of power in your City, thank you always, my beloved kin."

UnfortunatelyElvorfilia Di'reyja and Qalyr Ferelie were unable to present their speeches.

"And as our candidates retreat from the stage, I leave the final call, decision, to you... The humble citizens of Winya Ravana. Leave your votes with me, and all shall be decided.

You may choose four, four people, to work in this council. Vote them into leadership in order of preference, from the one you would deem most fit to sit in the council, down to the one you would deem fourth-best.

The voting shall come to a close at the end of the next tenday, and then all shall be closed." speaks Vilmandel, nodding to each citizen with a calm and trusting smile, before proceeding off.

The time is upon us, the time in which I shall have the honour of announcing the five, wise and virtuous elves who have been voted to lead Winya with an even and balanced gaze.

Gillaria Avares, Mebrinade Ameshalen, Yamael, Beliander Hath'narviel, and Aergis Ara'Arivae have been chosen by our very own kin, and shall they lead with the wisdom of our ancestors.

Yamael smiles warmly at the news, bows his head, and retires to his chambers to pray to Corellon Larethian.

*when Jud hears about the new council, he grins to himself, glad that at least some people who're fond of his people are on it. He then goes off to personally congratulate those he knows*

Canad walks around the Winya, visiting each of the shrines. "I need all the help I can get" he thinks. His journey ends at the Shrine of Rillifane.

Completing his prayers, he sits heavily on to a bench, and reviews his last conversation with Elder Gillaria.

"I hope she'll be strong enough to speak for the council” he shakes his head, feels the guilt of putting even more on her with his latest request, cosidering the load she probably has to shoulder.

Brothers and Sisters of Winya Ravana

It is time that the seats, now too long vacant, on the elven council of Winya Ravana be filled. So thus at the next full moon ((Saturday 12GMT)) all citizens of our city are beckoned to come and nominate two citizens to fill these council seats. The process will be as was established before:

Wherein ~ Every citizen may nominate two citizens.

Wherein ~ The top five candidates from the nominations will be put to vote.

Wherein ~ Three of these five will be chosen to fill the vacant seats.

Canad learns of the meeting to elect new council members to the Winya.

Apparently 3 new member members will join the existing two. That will certainly help with the administration of Winya.

He glances up to the skies and calculates that the meeting is only http://tinyurl.com/2dfl34 away.

Frowning, he remembers his impending trip to Kohlingen and all thoughts of the council evaporates from his mind. Slowly he visits each of the shrines and presents his offerings to the Seldarine for a safe journey.

Lyaera reads the note and contemplates, immediate sending a letter off to Eary and Mika...

Fair Citizens of Winya,

Nominations for Council Seats are now open. Please leave your vote with Vilmandel.

Five Citizens will be chosen from the nominations for the final vote, with a minimum 2 votes to be in the running. Those in the running will be notified and then asked if they accept the nomination. Nominees who choose to be candidates will be asked to make a small speech as before.

Nominations will be counted when Half Moon next rises((Wednesday)) at 12 GMT

Perhaps many who live in Winya Ravana aren't on the forums. I suggest there be some type of notice put up in the temple and the tavern, maybe even the fae tree as well informing players of this. Possibly even adding the forum topic URL.

Citizens of of the Fair City Winya Ravana,

The Nominations for Councilors of Winya Ravana have been counted.

Only the names of those with a minimum number of 2 votes have been posted. As it is, there are no fourth and fifth nominations, leaving the three vacant seats filled and uncontested. And none listed received fewer than three votes. Truly the unity of the elven people has shown through this day.

Congratulations then to our newest councilmembers.

Amber receives the notification with the Winya seal. Unpicking the seal quickly and unrolling the parchment her eyes scan the script. She looses her breath for a second shocked and stares somewhere while it sinks in.

Its a duty and duty's what she does she thinks, although also with duty comes great responsibility. Gathering her diplomatic robe she checks it appraisingly.

Canad first hears the news from Qirlan on one of his many trips on the road between Uhm and Kohlingen.
He finally manages to drop in to see the note posted by Gillaria with his own eyes.
This is not what he had expected from the process as previously described during the nominations process. But it seems that it's all been done and sealed.

Having already had much time to mull over the situation, he pens a note to the other members of the Council, leaving them respectfully with Vilmandel.

I thought about having an arcane archery class where an experinced arcane archer could teach some people on how to work it, but this is probly for another thread.

Ron is right though the Council isn't really busy because nothing ever happens in winya. though i do think there should be some rp in here. hopefully with the next update and elves being able to start in winya, it might help not sure by how much though.
