I just remembered my favorite part of the past that never came back sadly, the Amian PC Dolls.
I have around 30 different ones lying around in Eir's bags. When I heard about them I began his grand scheme of "gotta catch 'em all!" Never succeded, but I have a lot of them now, a few doubles as well.

Fire giant royals respawning before you'd beaten them so you'd get 3x Storm of Vengeance in yo face, Zeral and Yossarin using the most poetic English, Dark's terrible builds, Darthion vs half the server; he won, Darius Tristram being a badass, streaking Eilistraeeans, frost giant paladin, Ais and his games, daily drow drama, monthly drow regicide, the coin in ice, beach parties, milkses, Irraere's feathers, the demi-god of potatoes and a toi toi, murder mustery in Shadowflame Manor, Ruce eating Bonk's loincloth, Gillaria and Sina Avarest, Hunar Iroff and Thilidar Villder BFF, Brognar Stonefist, good cop and bad cop Rowan Peters and Liam Roe, Wing Wolfer having the coolest outfit, Theos and his custom wolves, Mynna <3 and the Clockwork Golems, Numbers and Toffee, Straz and son, Magical Trevor, killing rats and delivering packages, spontaneous Ultrinnan invasion and getting pwned by invuln'd Paz'kole, Finnish people with purple hair, that angry Irish guy, creepy Ve'heer women, Casper Meche, child characters, various d'Vreezes, Shada insane, EVERYONE porting to DM events because dee cees, Gauntlet runs without a trap disabler, bare-chested fists-only Kohlingen manor run, in-game newspaper, in-game map, leveling with Uberuce, Leggomi and Hexx, making Vyashir fly, having tea with Isendur and Fynn, the complete Dark Flight raiding Cordor and uhh Horde airships.
Shows that we started around the same time, because most of that stuff is burned into my memory too. Shada insane and permadying every second week. And Wing Wolfer had a cheesy outfit, but yeah! I miss Gillaria/Ave (but then again, who doesn't).
It was cool when Bendir was still a fort. It did a lot for the sense of adventure and being surrounded by wilderness, but then the idyllic village was built.

I miss the player numbers. Struggling to get on the server, appearing in the temple, immediate roleplay with everyone everywhere. Didn't have to look. Didn't have to hunt it down, it was there. Even if I didn't want to RP I could just sit back and watch the moment I entered the game. I miss that.

Honestly, I'm having a hard time with seeing the good in the status quo with Cordor being a ghost town. There are certainly benefits, but with the much lower player numbers, especially during euro/late aussie hours, it's terribly dull having to run around in desperate search of RP and in the end I just end up "ooc" leveling because it's all there's left to do. When Cordor was alive, at least it was possible to bump into a few people there and just have some fun, random conversations.
As an aside, I'm not seeing Amia listed on NWNServerList. Adding it there might pull in at least a few players.

PS: I'll stop mentioning those suggestions if it's ever explained to me why they are a bad idea/wouldn't work/etc. If it takes six years for them to get implemented, no probs personally, but I'll probably mention it again until I find out an official position on the topic and what the logic behind it is (even if the DMs agreed with me I'd be like - what are you crazy? I'm just making this sh*t up!).

Wow, its been many years since I've posted in this forum. I stopped in out of curiosity and found this thread and the wave of nostalgia hit me. I remember most of the oldest stuff on here. I doubt anyone remembers me or my main chars Ol' Sig Starrlind or Shiv Solas, but I thought I'd share some of my fonder memories of the days of yester-year.
My second day on the server, met Wandrian Tzigane who taught me the ropes of RP on Amia, both IC and OOC. Sig being mauled to death in Old Cordor by a cow buffed to the gills. First day on the server, being cut down by the first mob of goblins outside Cordor. Can't remember their names but there used to be these two dwarves or gnomes I met once in Cordor sewers who used to RP like detectives; reminded me of like sherlock holmes...awesome rp to just watch. Good ol' beach parties-that sometimes ended with drow pouring out of the underworld and slaughtering all of us. Was with a group one time hunting mylocks. After we had cleared out a small group and were standing around talking, a DM possessed one and had it "stroll by" us *whistling a happy tune* or some such. Then it stopped, turned, noticed us, shouted "Grow Brack!" and attacked. The many, many hilarious conversations with Micky McMickels. The Epic and ongoing animosity between Jackara and Shiv Solas which "sadly" never ended in an epic battle where I would have died horribly. And the many many awesome characters I interacted with during my time on the server. I could probably go on forever here listing everything.
To this day I still count my time spent on Amia as the best RP and Gaming years of my life and I'm glad to see it's still around.

First off... So pissed I have never met Pixel, Silent. Screw Gorthod I want to see you play a tiny, annoying fey woman thing.
I remember the Area to Rest. Is it still around?! Such fond memories of huge therapeutic sessions there involving entire drow houses and plots that enraged losers so bad they spammed hateful forum topics that were oddly similar to the actual IC rants of drow themselves. As entertaining as it could be, I don't miss it. Oh man.
If we're posting embarrassing old-timer newb stories, though, I first created an elf character named Estara (? I think because elves were the prettiest ? -- so gay) and decided she had amnesia because I had never played DnD and knew absolutely nothing about why people used the word Faerun, why people said drow were elves and yet they had two different words and opposite skin tones and wtf why did people keep typing *huggles* ?!? Why stars and what did that even mean? Hugging like you're snuggling? Did that mean we were about to do it? I was so confused. Then I ran into Yoss or Jud (or both?) and someone said, "Amnesia? Really? That's the best you could come up with?"
Shit. I got caught! I was embarrassed beyond belief thinking someone realized I knew nothing and had no idea at all how to do anything, got captured by drow, created a new character called Samantha and decided she was a normal human farm orphan who hated everyone and wanted only to be a female knight because I at least saw that movie A Knight's Tale and knew what they were. Or so I thought! Welcome to Amia.
And now you all know why this is my forum handle... Hahahahahahaha.
My first five minutes on Amia consisted of me being griefed by come clown that didn't say a word IC, stabilising and casting Daze on him and running into the Christmas Tree sales parlour that was Cordor East and shouting about it ICly, at which point they monkeystomped him and were OOCly lovely peoples. That was a vastly better experience than the other servers I'd tried, which had consisted of total emptiness aside from people that didn't want anything to do with me because I was n00bscum.
Other highlights:
Numbers' wee sister kicking the original Uberuce in the balls over and over again. Being amazed at how good the oldschool ~20 damage Flame Weapon scroll were....at level 12 or something, after suffering single figure damage for weeks. A certain child character and her DM 'assisted' move from being the telepathic daughter of Mephistopheles to being an adult Ve'Heer. Guston refusing to take you to Kohl or Brog until a certain level. Being so drunk on my first trips to the Spire that I got all of level 19 while having no memory of it aside from big red things. Woke up as a 20 with a hangover and no regrets. A painful, painful 'everyone's died so often we're almost out of Raises' two hour epic trawl to the Gauntlet that was foiled the moment we got to the merchant by a crash. Disco had been watching us, too pity and ported us back. The horrible lag caused by people spamming Connect to get into to the server on weekends. Being one of the people spamming Connect on weekends. Getting up at 5am GMT to get a couple of hours good lagless play in before going to work. The end of Thayvian crafting. The novelty of being human. In Cordor East that make you the biggest freak in town.
Harassing Opustus when I first arrived. Leaving. Coming back and levelling with GreatPigeon and being a general dick ICLy in the Forest but consistently lovely OOC to baffle people. Oh, being teased for using a heavy crossbow but laughing it off until I rebuild Gorthod into a boring rapier wielder (I still regret it.)

Wasn't exactly the "Old Days", I arrived to Amia 3 years ago as it was one of the NWN1 servers out there with consistent high player numbers , my first week was entertaining. Exploring strange places, strange people... my first real introduction to the playerbase outside of some party RP and grinding was walking into a group of players roadblocking in-between Cordor and the Dale. Obviously a bad situation that needed left far behind quickly, Reddok's female companion decided it was a good idea to go see what was happening. She was captured, Red's lvl 3 or 5 arse went running in to drag her out, got captured too and knocked unconscious.
I had no idea of server rules for PvP, wasn't to aware of the dice bag tool or what was accepted RP/rolls yet. Plus I hadn't played NWN1 in years having completely forgot the mechanics of the game and interface. I've played D&D for decades and played NWN1 & 2 for quite awhile years ago, so I just rolled with it.
I still don't recall names as I was so terribly new to the server. I THINK it was a band of Triadics that rescued us. After not playing for years and getting that RP itch again, the battle that ensued before my eyes was glorious. Spells and prayers erupted loosing their destruction, the clash of steel, calls to righteous gods.. I sat in suspense, would we be saved????
Still don't know who all it was that saved our butts that day, but it was a fantastic battle, great RP to watch and set the example of the server for me, and the good guys saved the day. Outside of a break here and there, Amia has been home ever since..

I recall the defense of Ne'sek going quite bad and a monster destroying a protective crystal (of lathander?) and leveling the place. Sad day for the weave knights and Riia. (-people hung out in the desert for days tho leading up to the event) Now rebuilt, but was an old cool event.
I recall the old portal system, and the days of everyone spawning in the temple of Waukeen.
I remember when getting hit with a Bigby in a mage duel was gg, and timestop was just the i-win button. (glad these changed)
I too recall South Cordor, and we did some awesome shady rp there. If it wasn't BLACK checkpoints/merchant spots loaded with traps, it was a Zhentarium(/Tark) showin' up for a hit.
I recall also a huge trial for (forgot his name?) who tried to blow up the guard tower, but instead hit the clothing shope. I was on the Jury.
...Seaguls.... just seaguls...
-and Ah the days of Darthion, when people actually feared banites. *memories* ...after the temple was destroyed, the Banites just curbstomped the woods and owned it for a night outright. I recall a DM even changed the color of the sky. (and of course people who lost pvp sent in complaints as usual) -the DM told them to play and be IC and not complain oocly (he was watching the entire thing after-all).

I remember a time when you could go from Udos to Cordor in 3 transitions, when Eoweniel played a drow who liked to bully my male (he got shaken, but never stirred), before Banites... I remember when Shan the Human thief and his buddy a svirfneblin were Cordor's most comedic pair of petty criminals (poor Eary), eventually they decided to move their import-export business to Wharftown... where nothing happened. So they moved right back to Cordor.
I also played a number of Kobold sorcs who'd get to level 5 and just use Ignite on anything/everything near them.

I remember when everyone feeling bold would gather 'round the entrance to the Underdark on the Sandy Beach, in hopes to catch a Drow Raid and fight them.
I was poking through old PMs and found this one from 2006.. Jan sent it to me and we laughed about the 'old days' when we hated each other. I feel old now because I could've sworn this happened in 2006... but... I forgot I was playing on the server for like 6 months before making an account on the forums. So I actually showed up in Amia around 2005. <.<
Anyway. I had to share this because it got a laugh out of me and made me nostalgic. The new Cordor is really great.. but I kinda miss old Cordor. *Sniffle*
This happened about a week after I got to the server. I'd trolled Jan's elf so badly he ended up rezz-killing me like 10 times and we were summoned to Disco's hide out. >.>
Budly is happily married to Yudann's aunt, the drow Erel'dra, with lots of beautiful daughters. And despite people several times asking, no, the daughters don't have Budly's moustache.
Ahh, south Cordor. A dozen times a day people argued in the square, then walked down to south to fight it out. Or spending 4 IRL days in a drow cell, just RPing with the walls and occasional visitor. That was the stuff.
Tower of Mystra, lovely place. I also remember the event when it was destroyed. I love it when a rogue asks mages to "back her up", then they throw 4 Hellballs at you when they see the first enemy... attacking you in melee.
Oh dear god! This! Haah! Im necroing but Poor old Budly and his wife and kids!

The old days... I was so damn edgy back then. Pls no.

I recall ... when Amia was just Amia, not Amia A or B.
I recall ... the Tower Of Mystra, Actand, Khalem and the Tropical Island.
I recall .. the several starting points of a new character in Cordor. When it was in the Temple of Waukeen, when said temple was the Trade Hall where all the job system stuff is now. When it was in Cordor South...
...speaking of Cordor I remember Moribund and Central Cordor.
I recall ... the Flight, Wyrmhold, Black Caravan, Black Flag, and others.
I have seen a DC from Disco.
I have roleplayed with Nekhy.
I have... I remember ... all of it with fondness. It's why I play now
Digging up the thread since of all characters that survived the Disco Autumn Clean Out....one of my old Do'Veldran Drows was still there. Ultrinnan was such a powerhouse compared to the Drow settlement of now. I also remember, I think on this character than an older lady who played some odd Elf or something gave me advice on life while doing a run for some exp and loot on my Drow. Least I think it was on Amia.
I miss those days, simpler days, better days in a way.

And so it came to pass that Estara was forever to be remembered and cherished as an elf player!! What has been read cannot be unread so now it's too late!
I miss the areas that I frequented having the activity they used to have.
When I first joined as a whelp in I think 2012 or 2013, myself and a friend of mine started off by playing rather belligerent Elves in the city of Cordor. Our characters were rather arbitrary, and I remember mine wanted to slay the Cordor Cartman for throwing her off the cart, and the aforementioned friend wanted to kill the tent seller, as they could not be entered. I remember when being thrown out by the Cordorian PC guards for taking a drunken bar too far, our intoxicated characters writhed and wanted to destroy the two npc's as we passed by them.
After the certain friend of mine couldn't really tolerate having to grind levels, I went to the Drow side of RP. I made this horribly built Sorceress, I think she had like 20 charisma at level 20, and all her stats were just generally inefficient, as I didn't really understand the system at the time. Still, the Drow RP was wondrous, and I liked the darker edge. Also, the Underdark itself was gorgeous. I'm a sucker for this unlimited, underground areas. Whether it was the sacrifices or the failed raids, I just liked working with the other Drow players.
The Drow sort of faded away, and I made a drifting Wizardess. Originally, she was going to show up with my returning friend who had also made a Wizardess, with her being very pristine and clean and my character, in spite of being a Wizardess, having a more filth-ridden, rather Druidic appearance in spite of being an Arcanist. Though, I found out shortly after that I would be the only one to level up significantly, lol.
Eventually, the next-best thing in the form of the Chromatic Dragon Covenant appeared. Made a character, got it to max level, and joined them for a few events. But then they disappeared.
I got a few max levels and a few high level players, but no one to concievably roleplay or level them with. There are a few communities, perhaps the Eilistraee Shrine that I could try to join, but now I have no motivation to grind characters to join them, with no guarantee they won't end up like the other communities.
Sounds like you guys had some fun times back in the days of yore, why not come back to have some more?

Magiros is pretty right here. Yes, anything with PvP is difficult, but not impossible, definetely. I mean, just as an example, Farija won against two people in one of Tarmaks tounaments, and got second place in the free for all. PvE DM events, especially with the guild now, I've seen a lot of even pre-epics doing fine in them, and one of my PCs did well enough in a pretty relevant faction event (in which the outcome was not certain)
I'm sorry that I can mostly talk about my characters, since I've seen them most, but in my experience, lower leveled characters can do pretty well even in 30s events.
Yeah, in those events, you're not as powerful, mechanically, but you can still do well enough, if you don't mind not being the MVP.
And what Magiros said in the end is true too, there are lots of RP opportunities for lower PCs. And, in my experience, the grind is much more fun if you are in a group that you know and get along with well. The main problem that I see in that respect is that in my experience, there haven't been any long-lasting new factions, so the opportunities are limited. (Just as an example, I haven't seen the shrine people around lately, though I could be wrong here)
I feel like that was more viable in the past, where you could easily encounter neutral social RP in Cordor, or run into Drow in Nec'Perya/L'obsul, or wander the isle and run into people anywhere. Now I feel much of the server is focused on high level events, and trying to get away with just roleplaying a commoner is impractical. It doesn't just limit your abilities, it limits your roleplay as well.
I actually did get a bit of it as my Blue Dragon Disciple character, Kylaetha, and roleplayed socially whilst also leveling towards max level, and allowed the character's personality to develop and shift more as she did more rituals and joined in arms with the more malevolent Dragonkin, and the more neutral or good characters I leveled with noticing more and more tenancies for cruelty and the like. But that came to a quick stop when something happened to the leader of the Chromatic Covenant literally a day or two after I formally joined in L'obsul and was brought to Thraan'dariv, and a number of the players left, leaving the faction prettymuch a shadow of its former self before, like the Drow, falling into irrelevancy.
But that's another thing. A lot of what appealed to me is now simply gone. The Drow and the Chromatics, or even the neutral RP in Cordor. Now it's occaisionally good Winyans, or constantly good Kohlingers or Bendirians, or sometimes good Drow.

I know what you mean about a packed server, with people all over the place, it was cool, and random shit was commonplace, but it still can be, it's amazing where you find certain people heh.

It is just harder these days. I used to be able to be logged on for like 6-12 hours and just walk around and such but these days I just log off if I find no one at the hubs/centers of RP.

That's what I do. I see people on, but can't find anyone, and it makes my stay short-lived. I did this with a friend before quite a while ago, we went through Cordor and its bigger buildings, Bendir Dale, Tarkuul, Kohlingen, the Shrine, and I checked Winya Ravana, and couldn't find a soul. Kind of kills motivation. Maybe they were all at an event or in some private location, but when you're alone with one person, it makes you feel like you're the only two people.
Yeah, you know what, the neglect received by the Drow, and evil factions in general, has prettymuch removed 90% of the roleplay that interested me. Apparently, if we don't want to do all-that-is-good in Kohlingen or loitering Bendir Dale, I guess the DM's don't want us. People will even say evil factions such as the Drow don't need a hub, whereas Kohlingen can get away with an NPC army that could defeat an amassed player army.
The Chromatic Covenant offered an alternative that equally appealed to me, and they were driven away too. To the people who drove these wonderful groups from this server, depriving both activity and groups that would widen the options for players to participate in joining, I would like to say: "Fuck you."

If you come with an elf we elf players usually invite each others to a party to help locating one another. In addition, recently there has been a lot of open events and at least I try to send a tell to elf players to give them an IC in.. such as *She/he might have heard people speaking of a rather large gathering at x location... Wonder what that is about".
Sure, it is a tell, but then again... If we never share information what is going on.. We will all be sitting alone in far corners of the island. I would recommend you to give it a try, once we know your an elf player.. Meaning we have met you and seen you about.. We usually start automatically inviting you. Up to you whether you want to be in da party or not then.
Also, considering the relatively low number of playerbase what is "active" is also relative. So if you can grab 2-4 outside you, it is pretty easy to build up activity in literally any place on the server.
Perhaps there should be an OOC way of people finding people because of the low playerbase.
