I was playing on sunday night and then boom, the 2 servers offline and the whole website offline.No news of any sorts anywhere. What happened?

Crash at datacenter. Server was restored. Looking into moving server to faster setup and likely a physical location change.

Not a fan of Discords. Skype on steroids. Wrong shit gets spread real fast. Like people saying Disco never owned the server and that the bills weren't being paid. Just blatant lies.

And I've never used Discord or Skype, so it's not me.

Big groups are bound to have shit talking. But all I heard was on facebook that Disco was looking into it and that the company hosting it had some kind of changing in management and that the Amian crew was looking into changing the host. That is a bit more friendly put I say.

They say they stopped the server because I didn't pay their bills for 5 years. Which is true, but they never sent me one and stopped the automatic payment without notifying me. So, I didn't notice not paying. It took a few days to sort that one out, not in the least because I don't believe their side of the story.

Anyway, the bills are paid and the server runs again.

Sounds like a shitty company. You need some donations for server upkeep?

I realize it definitely sucks that they dropped the ball on their end in terms of payment, but maybe consider the fact that they thought the box was delinquent for 5 years and kept it running all that time hoping to have the payment, before turning it off. That's kind of impressive all by itself!

Unfortunately, what a big bill to pay in one go, I would imagine something like 1,500€ (25€ * 60 Months)? Hopefully they credited you some for their error, or failed to backbill some of that.

That really isn't something you keep doing for five years in hopes of being paid. That is having such a terrible control over your business that you lose track of financial information for the servers you have in the back. They lost track of a server for five years running in their own server farm. That is pretty bad.

Everyone should be aware that I have never, do not, and will never use Discord for Amia. Anyone claiming to be me is not me, and anything they say is not coming from me. I would appreciate being told if people are assuming my name and saying things, because I will be making logs and records of claimed information.

I don't appreciate little stunts like this, btw, and if I find out names of people I will be sending names to the DM team. I don't care if it's Discord, if you're fucking around and using my name, I will follow up on it.

Nicknames can be changed in discord, just like Skype. The usernames cannot. Verify before eating up that delicious pseudo-Tormak gossip.

Dont think I've ever seen one of the "Tormaks" say anything in Discord.

Anytime I've seen one of the "Tormaks" say anything, it's started with "I'm not actually Tormak" and done with tongue-in-cheek humor. No one is abusing Discord by pretending to be anyone, from what I've seen. That said, if Tormak doesn't want people to playfully use his name, then that's just as fair and likely won't be allowed to continue - even in jest.

Three of the Tormak accounts in Discord were me. I thought your initial comments about the public Discord in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=87086 were an over reaction and, as MightNMagic rightly pointed out, that made it funny to use your username in Discord.

Don't worry, I wasn't pretending to be you or besmirching your good name.

I've never used your name on Discord or seen anyone else do it. I just did a quick search of the username 'Commie' there and nothing came up, so I think you're clear.

EDIT: Don't know about Skype though. I'm not in any of the mysterious Amian skype groups.

TBH it's not funny to do it anyways. Tormak was a DM at the time, it was even more legitimate than usual for him to say that. You wanting to be a dick about it doesn't make it right.

As often as you were upset when you felt someone misrepresented you or your position on things, I'm surprised you thought it was a good idea to impersonate a DM in Discord. I'm certainly not happy about this. I think it was pretty stupid of you. Something being "funny" doesn't mean you go do it.
