Putting myself out there for criticism is difficult but I feel like I and (Ryvvik) Could learn to be a little better and therefore ask how I could improve as both a roleplayer and the character that is Ryvvik. Thanks a million in advance. Cheers.

Okay, I’m game. Anything for me or any of my characters that could use improving?

Well seeing as you mention it... nope can't think of anything. For my part I probably don't interact with you enough but I've always enjoyed Darby and more recently, Bestest Kaci heh.

I try to play a NE Druid. How am I doing?

Edit: Critiques welcome. First time really getting into Druid. Nevermind evil Druid.

You could play Chiania more. Or at all. <.<

But really, you're great. You're one of the people on the server I look up to and I've learned a lot about RP and character development from you over the years.

Play more often and try to involve your self more directly with others. Other wise I really enjoy your roleplay and I love seeing those sweet rare moments when a well thought out bg come sin to play. I like seeing characters that are built to be characters and have their quirks. This is something I feel you excel at. I would like to see you play a bard again in all honesty but that's just wishful thinking on my part. I really enjoyed your bardic roleplay and I think the server can use more bard over all.

Thanks for the feedback, PS.

Firstly, I'm not sure I have it in me to play more often currently. I'm embracing the beginning of my professional career and focusing my attention on family, recovering from a bad breakup and moving forward as an adult in life. Amia is relegated to the place of hobby or nostalgic pastime, for the moment. Not to mention all of my critical feedback for the server in general has yet to see the light of day. That could make a difference, but I'm not even sure if it would, honestly. The biggest thing keeping me around is the RP of specific people and their dedication to keeping a complex, rich story going despite all the bullshit.

Secondly, thank you. I appreciate the compliments in your feedback!

Thirdly, I will happily play Caron again someday. It will depend on whether he is ever released back out into the general populace. And even then, he may just have a target on his back. He certainly earned being hunted down, so I don't begrudge anyone their attempts or actions. However, I will say, if anyone (Team or players) wants his end to become permanent, I would hope they would reach out to me and try to reach some sort of consensus on it. I was very, very displeased with the various threats and implications that Caron was to be put to a permanent end whether I wanted it or not and that my opinion on it didn't matter because I was that "problematic." I firmly believe that while Caron was problematic, there was far more to each situation than my actions as a player and character, and that was the beginning of my understanding of how playing truly evil/cruel/narcissistic can go for someone on this server. People were unable to separate me from my character, including various DMs.

All that said, I would love for someone who has an actual grievance with me to come forward and leave criticism. I promise I will receive it with an open consideration, regardless of how difficult it may be for me to hear privately.

I still haven't discovered an urge to leave others my feedback. I feel like a lot of my past feedback still lingers, without being addressed and fruitless to repeat.

I like this thread so I'm moving on with more feedback! I did what I saw of people who asked for it in the last page or two so far. >.> I have not gotten to all those who said they were open to feedback.. it may never happen..

What I want to see from Ryvvik and therefore you is more reasons to interact with a larger populace. Such things as finding new places to gather things for his garden, such as exercises or routes for his daily physical abuse... I don't know. I love going to the Monastery with Sam and I owe you a visit there, but I think it would help Ryvvik engage more comprehensively with the playerbase aside from the times he's lecturing them on their poor behaviors (which I love, btw).

Trying to work my way backwards. OMG, Nak, I think we have been steadily RPing for almost 10 years now. That is legitimately crazy. Not just like here and there, but our characters have been intertwined and some of them have some serious history. I don't think we ever give each other much feedback, though. I think one thing I'm so impressed with about you is how dedicated you are to your characters details. One amazing improvement over the years is also that you've let your characters drift apart from one another and be engaged in different parts of the server story, whereas they used to be tied somewhat together on their pirate adventures- and omg- I remember Devilia. Dat bi--

Anyways, the thing I think you could improve upon these days is to create more opportunities. Darby is in such a leadership position (not that you asked for it) that one thing I think you could really do is offer ways for people to have diplomatic relations with her, impress her, be employed by her, etc. She is a very strong voice for Wiltun with a lot of IC history and influence, for good reason. Use it for good. :) (And F the haters)

My biggest criticism for you, Hackums, is that you got on that new character (cool weird crazy angst kid) and then abandoned all the juicy RP we had gotten started. Stop doing that to me. I met Di'rien after his comeback only for you to drop off again then, too! Other than that, sometimes you analyze things to a degree that it takes away from your chosen points, but that's not really related to RP... that's just what I notice on the forums.

Not sure if people remember my characters, some might. Anyhow, kind of feeling a creative moment in life and wanting to see if I could pick up some actual RP at any point. Any suggestions what I could focus to improve or take into consideration in relation to playing and character building?

Just a note that as I asked for it, I wont hold it against you and keeping it in the spirit of the thread itself. :)

Best Regards,

I just want the silly LaQuendi elves back so I can mess with them.

I thought you and Amalyth did a pretty good job with your roleplay already. It might have been super secretive and holed up in Winya, but you guys were snooty moonmoon elves, that much was expected. With all the renewed magical interest and projects in the works, there certainly is a place for your characters to come back to.

I would love to get some feedback on Sylveera Gustride. I always liked elves in most settings but in Faerun I always avoided playing one for long on servers if ever making one. I made a few Drows on POTM and some very old on Amia but as a "common" elf I always missed out on it and had bad lore knowledge. Silly enough I think I know more about the Azeroth Elves than the Faerun/DnD Elves! So any pointers on Sylveera is welcomed and any pointers on how I play her as an elf.

I know she is not my most played character and at times she might be bit to close to Budly in the grumpy person box.

So.. I just now saw this post...

Any Input on Peraga? I really don't know how I'm doing with this whole "Shy/Insecure"-Thing.

Sadly, I refrain from playing elves out of the same reasons. BUT: From what I get you're trying to play her as more of a cold kind of character, no? If so, then less is more. Not getting involved in things that are not directly said to her, its tiresome and doesn't feel rewarding, but it makes the Character more believable and it gets the point across. Just my two cents though, might be completely wrong with that.

I know what you mean! Making it hard to play her. She is a follower of the not so happy Black Archer, "no joy" and all that :)

I think the shy and insecure part comes forward pretty well! Under it she got a strong will and is quite powerful but her background makes her take a step back at times but I think you portray it well and she is slowly daring to speak up more even if she feels insecure and is a bit shy. But then I like Peraga super much :D I always love the characters that I can feel sympathy and sorry for.

Not everything can be done shyly. You put shyly behind almost everything Peraga does! maybe instead of typing shyly all the time, start emoting the quirks she has and the things she does that make her seem shy?

I honestly already kinda noticed that myself, but I always thought "meh, it'll be alright"/"People will get the idea"

Problem is that I sometimes with my limited vocabulary write sentences, press enter and look at them like: "Does... Does that make sense? Do People talk like this?"

But I'll try to prewrite stuff and see if I can stop with this lazy-ass "shyly" bull!

I would actually like to get an idea of what the community thinks of Tarkuul and the people within it just out of curiosity. :)

Always liked the interactions I've had with that character ^^ The contrast in personalities between our two characters is easy to spot, meaning you are playing this shy-ness right. Always a lot of fun!

I wrote a post on that before, but apparently it got deleted.. My personal opinion is that evil places are wasting a lot of great players' potential and "resources" (DMs and players) to make the server more active. Amia has a limited player base, and because of that, the more we spread the player base, the weaker interactions and factions become. I consider that at the point Amia is at, that it'd be far more beneficial for the player experience if characters were all neutral / good and could work together against DM threats and stories.

So yeah.. what I personally think of Tarkuul? The same I do with the other evil places - they used to be incredibly beneficial to the server when we had the numbers to make many factions work and be complete, but nowadays (even if run / populated by amazing players!) they do more harm to the server than they help and thus speed up the demise of Amia.

P.S. Could also be all neutral and evil characters.. but I'm not sure it'd work as fluid. Also, I'm well aware this won't happen. This is still my opinion on evil places and evil characters.. even if historically I've always preferred to play evil characters back when NWN was at its peak.

Well, being all neutral or good will lliterally kill Amia. I watched the decline over the past year, and in truth, the resurgence of a Tarkuul faction has sparked a lot of roleplay between Bendir Dale and Kohlingen as well as in Tarkuul itself.

I see your point, focus on players vs DM's, but... here's the rub. Then people will only play when there's a DM doing something, since... why bother otherwise? Trust me, this will happen.

As for speeding up the demise and doing harm... no. I strongly disagree. Also, not to point fingers, but, you play, sparingly, and hadn't been seen for a year or more until recently. A lot has happened, a lot has changed.

Not sure where your information comes from, but, Tarkuul is probably the most active faction currently, followed by Bendir (tied maybe?) and Kohl. We're seeing old players returning, to check things out. I don't see a demise via Tarkuul, I see a rebirth, to some extent.

To make Amia into Candyland is silly, imho. I used to think much like you do, then I went to the other side... they had cookies. Now? I can't see how Amia would survive without evil's presence.

I was strongly for Tarkuul even before I joined, but I don't think I flat out agree anymore. Amia need a Tarkuul, a hub where evil can reside to plot and scheme, but I don't agree that Tarkuul was ever the best solution. The problem with Tarkuul is the same problem that Kholingen has, it is hubs for very specific kinds of characters and both of them are very anti-conflict in nature.

I think the best solution from the start would have been to create a large city with room for both good and evil to coexist. It wouldn't be a peaceful thing but that's kind of the point.

It is true that Tarkuul has sparked a lot of rp, but I don't know if I agree with the conclusions your draw from it. The truth about activity in Tarkuul is because it got a lot of DM attention, and strong recruiters in you and Bob. Dicey is keeping up with his DM run plots, and that's what keeps activity there.

When it comes to Kholingen it's true that the activity there is partially a direct response to their opposite nature, I'll give you that. That said there's not much credit one can give Tarkuul beyond that. Just like former groups in Tarkuul the last years, you haven't sparked much rp outside of Tarkuul as antagonists.

My point is that just like before the rp in Tarkuul for the most part still stays within Tarkuul, and it's effect on the server's rp as a whole is discussable.

Opinions and perspective. Everyone has a different one, yes. I won't argue anyone's perception of things. However, for good to have something to do, there must be an evil, and to some extent, vice versa. And... to respond directly... an entire DM event occurred, was split into two, one event for each "side", with a lot of buildup rp and research rp for both sides. To say it stays in Tarkuul is a bit... ehh... wrong.

We could go out and start killing and pillaging, but that's not a sustainable effort. The fact you don't really know what we're doing is a compliment that we must be doing it well.

Not meant as snark, just different perspectives.

1) If players are playing right now without DMs being on, they would even if everyone's all good / neutral or all evil / neutral. The amount of times I have interacted with evil characters that are (for the most part) secretive / doing their things with their friends and a handful of DMs in my entire Amia career is something that I can count on my fingers. The number of times I have been involved in the result of evil stuff that wasn't heavily DM orchestrated is.. about 0. Regardless of that, I have played quite a bit on Amia (not as much lately... which leads up to point 2)

2) Believe it or not, one of the reasons why I decided to distance myself from nwn this time was because whenever I would log on I would end up one of the few players / characters looking for RP that wasn't in one of the "we're evil secretive group rawr". It felt to me like whenever I would try to find people, they were either just serial character grinders, or people with exclusive groups that Saya wouldn't want to be anywhere near. Examples of that would be that the one group "exclusive group" Saya should have been affiliated with (feys!) also happened to be a group of unseelie feys... I vividly recall being on my own / looking for people to RP with and have 2 DMs involved with unseelies with a couple of other players / characters doing their things. Some of these characters being sides, including faction leaders, and including players of characters Saya normally gets involved with. This is one example here, but there was a few of those occurances. These evil side characters take away players' time off characters that Saya does interact with (and I could name a few of those). I am sure I am not the only one who was in that situation.

Have things really changed? Not sure, as whenever I logged in lately I was one of the few 4-5 players on, or the few I encountered were black hood wearing folks which probably were evil (some of which even openly claiming to be with Tarkuul..)

3) Let me guess here and say you have DMs supporting the faction. Due to DM support, I will also assume many of the people that are involved in Tarkuul now are side characters of people who normally have good or neutral characters as their main (or people who create 10000 characters and go where the activity is). The moment DMs will stop supporting the faction, these sides will disappear and go back to their old characters, or create new ones and go where the DM attention is. Meanwhile, those who are not involved in these factions and who stick to 1 main character that doesn't go hand in hand with that activity, are usually left unattended and waiting for something to happen. In response to that, some will stop playing, others will wait it out (because it's a circle and eventually the evil factions die out when DMs stop due to the alts going away), and some of these outsiders will create a side characters and join the evil force while it lasts (further emptying other maps of the server).

4) There would be a strong evil presence without evil characters. DMs could develop their scenario / bad guys / antagonists much faster without having to wait on players to log in to move a certain plot along. Moreover, less reclusive factions needing attention means they can focus on other players and provide smaller events to more varied characters rather than small groups of people.

5) There would still be evil, it'd just be DM driven (part of it already is). Moreover, conflict / interactions don't HAVE to come from good vs evil.

6) "There was an event.. it was split in two." That event could still have happened, only difference in that scenario would be that instead of separating it in two, dividing the DMs' attention between good and evil, then we'd all good or all neutral characters dealing with the situation. Meaning they could help each others more than if we have a group of people actively working against the other or refusing to collaborate for obvious reasons.

7) I'm not saying you aren't doing it well or bad, I'm saying the time people spend playing characters that will never interact with good characters (main or alt) outside of big-bad-evil dm driven plot / antagonistic confrontation is time taken off quality players that would be better spend making 90% of the server feel more alive rather than only for a handful of characters that will stop to exist when DMs decide to give less attention to the group. It happened with old Tarkuul I believe, it also happened with the underdark (at some point I remember seeing a server full of evil drows, with DMs giving lots of attention to them.. and I interacted with zero of them in my entire time spent here. Some of them were players I interacted with often though... on other characters, not when they were on their drow alt to join the group-of-the-moment).

Anyway, we're going off-subject here, there was a thread for that discussion but it got removed.. :/ Please remember that I used to be 10000% for evil presence and factions ---WHEN--- the playerbase could support it. I just don't think NWN is at that point anymore, and because of that I think it would be better if the few players we have left weren't spread up in 100 smaller groups / factions and if DMs did what table top does and which has managed to keep D&D alive for so long. And because of the Amia setting / map configuration, and because of the nature of evil secretive groups (or not-so-secretive), I consider the evil factions to be the first that should go (but let's face it, it's not gonna happen, sadly.)

To say it stays in Tarkuul is a bit... ehh... wrong.

We could go out and start killing and pillaging, but that's not a sustainable effort. The fact you don't really know what we're doing is a compliment that we must be doing it well.

Not meant as snark, just different perspectives.

If I know which event it was you speak of, It did end in a status quo, did it not?

Barrililath : Shadowy Drow, probably less Drow than Sylv ever be.

Not really sure what you mean by Status Quo in regard to a DM event. Also, I'm not going to derail this topic any further!

However... I won't speak of specific details here, for obvious reasons, suffice to say... it was a pretty major thing if you were involved. The fact that many might not be aware of it is further proof of something I truly believe on Amia, "Just because you don't know about it, doesn't mean it's not happening.".

Also... how an event comes out is largely immaterial, the fact that rp produced an event is enough, isn't it?
