Hello all!

I'm not as good with builds as some people and was hoping to get a few tips. I'm going to be making a Dex based Ranger/monk/SD taking epic dodge down the road. I'm making this character mostly for RP reasons because I really like playing characters similar to this, but I also want this character to be able to hold his own.

15 Ranger/9 monk/6 SD

Highlights for each class chosen:
Ranger - for Imp 2 Weapon, spells, animal for RPing
Monk - Imp inv, speed, AC bonus
SD - HIPs, shadow jump

My original thought:
Str: 16
Dex: 15 (+2) 17
Con: 12
Int: 10
Wis: 14 (for spells and AC)
Cha: 8 (-2) 6 :/
(He won't be pretty or persuasive, that's for sure!)

Skills (I'm pretty bad with these)
Tumble (dump with last levels of monk later on): 30 or so
MS: 33
Hid: 33
Discipline: 33
(not sure what else to take)

1.) My first question is the starting attributes. Chultans get +2 to Dex which is great for this guy. Would 15 (+2) Dex be a good starting point or should I just go all out? And would it be better to take less Strength in favor of more Con and intelligence in order to get HP and skill points? Say like:

Str: 14
Dex: 15 (+2)
Con:14
Int: 14
Wis: 14
Cha: 8 (-2)
(Something like this but I don't even think I added these points up right!)

2.) Next, is what skill points should this character focus on?

3.) Last, feats-wise. I think I'll have a lot of room to pick some feats early on. I will probably choose to use Kukri's for higher crit chances and weapon finesse. Will also get blind fight, but other than that I'm not sure which early feats would be best.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! I know this has been kind of over the place but I'm hoping one of you wonderful people has the time and interest in helping me out!!

Thanks!! :D :D

-K

Also!

Was wondering if it would be better to take more SD. Perhaps 9 ranger/ 9 monk/ 12 SD
or 11 Ranger/ 9 monk/ 10 SD?

I kind of like having more ranger for polymorph spell and just feeling more like a ranger haha. But if it's a waste build-wise please let me know!

Right, First things first..

What do you want your build to do? Tank, Deal damage?

 Any feats you particularly want?

 Any roleplay you want to build to focus on?

For the build, I was hoping to go for Epic Dodge since it's a dex base so I guess more on the tanky side. Damage dealing seems to be given up since he won't have weapon spec or dev crit.

Right now I've already started the character:

So far..

6 monk, 2 ranger

Str: 14
Dex: 20
Con: 12
Int: 12
Wis: 14
Cha: 6

Feats taken: dodge, mobility, exotic weapon, weapon focus

Skills: only maxed in Hide, MS, Disc, and tumble

I'm planning on getting blind fight and improved crit, other than that I have one free feat. Not sure what would be beneficial, maybe toughness? I have no preference. Not set on the epic feats yet, thinking armor skin, epic weapon focus, epic prowess, one great dex to even out my base, epic dodge, and maybe another fav enemy or epic toughness.

For skills, I'm honestly not sure what would be worth it. going to max hide and ms. Have around 30 tumble? Is it beneficial to max discipline? I'm less knowledgable of skill points.

For role playing, kind of was going for a versitle mercenary type. Able to sneak around but hold his own in fights. I want him to be the mysterious mercenary type, but not too sure where he fits in in the grand scheme of things yet. That's about it!

Thanks for the reply. :)

Epic Dodge certainly is in reach, but there are a few points to the build I'll make afterwards, Heres the spread..

Ending Levels
9 Ranger
6 SD
15 Monk

Str: 14
Dex: 20 (26)
Con: 12
Int: 12
Wis: 14
Cha: 6

9 Ranger Feat: Blind Fight
10 Ranger
11 SD
12 SD +1 DEX Feat: Imp Crit
13 SD
14 SD
15 Ranger Feat: Weapon finesse! Bonus Feat: Favoured Enemy
16 Ranger +1 DEX
17 Ranger
18 Ranger Feat: (Lightning Reflexes/ Great Fort/ Iron Will or Pick Skill focus of your choice, Perhaps Hide or Move Silently)
19 Ranger
20 Monk +1 DEX
21 SD Feat: Epic Prowess
22 SD
23 Monk
24 Monk +1 DEX Feat: Armour Skin
25 Monk
26 Monk
27 Monk Feat: Great Dexerity
28 Monk +1 DEX
29 Monk (Make sure tumble is 30)
30 Monk Feat: Epic Dodge

You mentioned you had weapon focus, What weapon was it in?

Monks gained unarmed attacks with Kamas thus you will have more attacks if you use them compared to your standard weapons so it would be good to think about what weapon to specialise in.

9 Ranger will give you the dual wielding feats needed, Including Improved two weapon fighting at ranger level 9 so that will save you some feats.

Monk 15 is a bet meh to hit there, but It will net you some monk goodies.

The bad part of this build is that it will not deal much damage, Unfortunately there isnt any sneak attacks (Which dexers normally get their damage from) nor do you have the strength to back it up. However the AC part of it may do well.

Skillpoints wise you need 30 tumble before level 30 to qualify for Epic Dodge, The class setup takes care of the rest of the pre-requisites.

Alternatively you could aim for 5 Ranger, 15 Monk, 10 Rogue and go a bit more damage heavy, but you'd be losing HiPs.

Its only my personal outlook so it may not be the best, Im not a build expert but hope it helps!

What about a Rogue/Fighter/SD instead that goes for epic dodge but gets the bonus of having good sneak attack damage, plus damage from WS and EWS?

I was thinking 16 Rogue/8 fighter/6 SD

I would like to use dual kukri's and think that the 8 fighter will give me enough feats to make that happen but this character will not have a lot of HP at all.

Chultan

Stats:
Str: 12
Dex: 16 (+2)
Con: 14
Int: 14
Wis: 8
Cha: 12 (-2)

1-20:
7 Rouge
6 SD
7 Fighter

Feats: Finesse, Dodge, Mobility, Weap-exotic, Ambidex, Two-weapon fighting, Imp-TWF, WF, WS, Imp crit, KD

20-30:
16 Rogue
6 SD
8 Fighter

Rogue feats: Improved invasion, Crippling strike
Epic feats: Armor skin, EWF, EWF, Great Dex +1, Epic dodge, IKD

Let me know what you think. Thanks!
