Soooooo this has bothered me for a while...Artwork and how it's not represented. Priceless paintings, statues, Books, rugs ect... famous Artists who create wondrous things that are cherished and most Valued to the right buyer. I think they would make great Epic Drops and add a whole new element to Amia. Nobles and rich folk like to brag and show there wealth. Simply they would be great RP pieces. Barter stones.

I -love- this idea. I tend to pick up random loot things just for RP value and this would definitely add so much more to the server rpwise!

Well, we have a lot of junk in the lootbins that nobody uses, so this is better than vendor trash.

Epic loot should be and remain epic, unless it has magical effects tied to it, it would just piss the player off that their rare chance to get useful epic loot was ruined by nothing more then vender trash.

Also I don't assume epic bosses or even most monsters would even keep objects that are intrinsically worthless.

I agree with Cory to some extent but I think the idea of more lootable/earnable RP flavor items would be kind of neat.

Rare Relics and valuable items, can be found in any hoard's vault, small and high. Lore skill could play a Major part towards this finding... i'm just spit balling... so it dosen't just have to be Epic Drops..but imagine finding the equivalent of a Picasso, or a Mark Twain novel, but geared to FR's Historical Legends.

I think if someone wants to RP finding a Picasso from a horde of loot the DMs would be fine with it I bet, it would cost what 1DC as it would have zero powers or use IG.

If it is in any loot table other then epic and given a max sell value as vender trash like most of non-epic loot found I don't see that being a big problem.

To the average adventurer, art holds no value. A thing is only valuable because people feel it is and the current economy on Amia is heavily governed by adventurers, hence magic crap that makes people stronger personally tend to have a high value and other priceless things such as art or an old book are more of a passing fancy at best.

While I like the idea, it's not practical because not enough people find such things valuable for there to be a real market for it.

I actually don't mind this as an idea in PnP campaigns. Heck, a DM could use one here for the same purpose I'd use it, a story Hook, basically.

We have brilliant PCs that are masters at painting, gemcrafting, jewelry making, stonemasonry, etc who create works of art. Other PCs (and cities) who actually pay hundreds of thousands of gold for said art, and then haul those inventory-space-hogs around for roleplay purposes.

If your PC is one that would be interested in such things then seek out a PC that makes them and roleplay for them. I am an absolute No to adding them to lootbins.

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/treasure.htm#tableArtObjects

Art objects as loot is nothing new, although sadly - but conveniently - transformed into auto gold from encounters.

One problem I see with the idea of, specifically, extending this "treasure table" to the "epic" level, is that such items would be so singular and exceptional that their "production" (aka loot drop) could not be justified within current gameplay mechanics.

Another complication lies with the fact that SRD Art treasure is composed largely of objects, created from valuable materials. Appraising something like an epic (in a classical sense) poem would be somewhat harder then "Golden circlet with four aquamarines".
