I started playing a week ago and I didnt find any drow males or female anywhere. My character game is Vilith and hopefully some peoples still play that side of Amia.

elistrae drow have much more opportunities, for ud you have a small if even existent population, contact naivatkal as he was a high up drow when the academy existed

There are drow currently in the Eilistraeen Refuge (Shrine) over by Kampos. And in Shadowscape.

Sorry I can't be of more help for the underdark (L'Obsul & Necperya) my jaluk was banished awhile ago Heh.

In which case, now is a good time for your drow to take over Necperya!

The UD is sadly in a lull right now. And ew, surface drow. Worst idea ever!

I'm mostly inactive at the moment. I play Miz'ri Ussen d'Vhid (the first matron of Nec'perya) If you want to RP, I might be able to make time, but I'm not going to be consistent.

Unfortunately until the server decides to make drow roleplay more serious I'm just not going to get involved much. I believe firmly that drow should be application only.

Judging from the timestamp of your posting, we will probably not meet. But I do play Ralghok, who lives in L'Obsul ... except that she has ICly given up on trying to live just down there, because she would be too lonely there. (Short version.) Still, if you see me online or need a levelling buddy or antagonist or just a random person to run into in L'Obsul, send me a tell!

I guess if you want to play a UD drow, it's still a good idea to come up with reasons why you would go to the surface once in a while. (Less deadly monsters is an "efficient" reason. Raids can come later. Infiltrating dirty hippies is aways good.)

And just because you're on the surface for 100% of those 2 hours / day that you might play, doesn't mean that you're not a UD character who spends 99% of hir time in the dark ...

Regards
Ts

I saw UD drow on B Server last night, so keep trying!

And, my hippie isn't dirty! :P
But he 'is' ready for your raids.

edit: okay, he's dirty sometimes, but that's part of his fighting style haha

I disagree _Ts.

If it was so easy to just pop up on the surface... well, nothing would make any sense. For me, that whole lack of continuity and commitment to be an authentic seeming character of the underdark is lost when you just sit on the surface whenever you're online.

Might as well just make an elf. If you do want to play a surface drow, at least don't have them pretend to not be that.

Oh, I'm all for playing in the UD, if there are people there ... And I don't want to run around on the surface like it's nothing.

But given that there are usually 10 players on B or less (when I play) and most of them are Wiltun-based or monster-bashing, I don't see the point in being the only one in L'Obsul and surroundings for hours. Literally. Because that's simply not what I want from a RP server, and I find it incredibly frustrating.

I always try to give people reasons to go to the UD. I'd had hoped to start a small group of monsters there. Multiple times over the last years. But none of those attempts have lasted longer than a week and then characters simply disappeared, while I'm still stuck down there. And that's why my characters has every reason to believe that the UD sucks and she can accomplish more if she also ventures to the surface.

How I divide the IC time between the surface and L'Obsul is so much up to interpretation, given that I can just portal back and forth ...

And I really don't see any dishonesty about playing a fish out of water as still a fish.

Regards
Ts

I shut the book on my drow rp long time ago. I'm all in now for Elf rp in Winya and my Sun Elf.

The Underdark, / Drow RP has dryed up now long time. There's been some spurts of activity, though it's spotty.

If you want to try to get the drow and general underdark roleplay active, I suggest you look into reviving the academy project. We had growing steady activity in the underdark for about three months, and it had the promise to continue that way for a good long while. It was a lot of work, but for the time it really paid of.

If you do, I would however suggest you talk to the Underdark DMs first to get an idea of how they think you and them can avoid the problems that caused it to fall apart last time. Get together on what they feel is important, so you do not run into the same problem I had, that led me to give it up.

For me, two big problems were the restrictions to draw from Forgotten Realms lore for the lessons, and the restrictions on portraying certain aspects of the twisted drow nature like the 'human' sacrifices. If you clear up how to do this with them first, and you feel confident it can work for you, then it is likely the best way to really get the UD bustling with activity again.

Then be also sure to check if there are others who might want to kick off some groups, factions and events along side your project. It helps a lot if there are more people investing themselves creatively to get things going.

Mabey also look into how Barak Runedar has been doing things these past years, as their council meeting style has kept that place very active and easily accessable to new players.

Titanarrow has been grabbed. :D

There are a few of us trying to get things rolling on the Drow side. It may be a little slow, but there are a few of us down there attempting.

The academy was great and I second reviving it.

I vouch for the awesome time you'll have roleplaying with this man. As for me, I'm around on my new character as of... now! Hope to see you soon, pal.

The Academy idea killed itself by turning itself basically into an entire faction and in doing so cut off a lot of RP outside of itself in the UD.
It caused a bubble of inter-Drow RP as it got up and going and there was more internal ability for interest and then crashed after that as it enveloped so much of Nec's RP.

Drow RP works best when there is multiple venues in which characters can align their interests with and against others often at the same time.
You really need conflict and activity between individual Drow (on various levels, in-house, inter-house, city standing) but then also as a whole to be able to align as a group to created Drow vs others conflict. Leaving out one or the two much tends to kill Drow RP by just turning on itself and collapsing or becoming boring through lack of interesting conflicts on a active level.

I was under a false impression someone had told me that the UD was all dead since many important players stopped playing their drow a long time ago and that the main houses were going to be the new ones only.I got *grabbed* by a starting house, and considering what i believed it was fine, but after consideration it wasnt what I was looking for so I had to leave them. Vilith will be around probably with a new name and hopefully he wont be harrassed by the house he left.
