Okay everyone, we're putting together some new information threads.

I want your questions. Technical questions, server questions, lore ones, any Amia-specific things. If you've found yourself wondering about "_____" then ask it here. If possible, tag your question with something like [Technicial] for purely OOC things or [Lore] or something else that sounds appropriate for IG things. If you're not sure what tag it might have because it's a complex question, don't worry about it.

Also use this thread for asking for clarification, if you seen something ruled different ways and want to know which one to believe.

I will be moderating this topic and will gleefully remove spam, nonsense questions, and split out any discussions that occur.

[Technical] Can we summarize in one place the limits / constraints of each of : ¨PLC spawner, Item Spawner, Generic Summoner, Bottled Companion, Vizualizer and Familiar/Companion/Summon Reskin ?
- can a custom item be generated with the Item Spawner? (eg : Item spawner creates multiple versions of a statue with an on-use effect ?)

[Rule] Can I emulate a PrC or do I need to request it?
[Rule] What type of background can my character be, why can't I already be a hero?
[Rule] What are the usage of skill points in PC v PC and in DM events? Are there skills that are used for anything else?

[Tech?Rules?] Why can't I see every appearance model on my equipment in game?

Some of these are ones I wonder myself, others are just ones that I think someone new might ask:

[Technical] Where do I find the trainer for job X, and how do I perform it?

[Technical] Why are there so many transitions in Cordor East? Getting on/off the ship, crossing the bridge thereafter, and all around that lamppost...

[Technical] Whenever I head into multiplayer, Neverwinter Nights checks for a "master server" that's not around- is there any way to skip this check?

[Rules] Is it okay for my character to constantly be running instead of walking?

[Rules] Since pickpocket is not used by the server, what should I use to emulate Sleight of Hand for skill checks?

[Lore/Rules] Why can't higher level characters take a lower level character as an apprentice?

[Lore/Rules] I see I can rent houses, is there any way to buy them? Also, why is it more costly to rent a house for a month than to just pay weekly?

[Technical] How does Knock work?

[Technical] How exactly are the Pale Master touch attacks used in the game, i.e. does spellcraft count against them? Spell mantle? Spell resistance? Are these all intended behaviors?

Where do people get their portal wands and from who?

I've heard it said they get it when they get off the boat, but an official answer would be awesome.

[Technical/Lore]How exactly to the Knight Commander auras work? Are they supernatural/extraordinary, morale based? This is one of those things that haven't really made complete sense to me since PDK got reworked. I'm looking for a more detailed class description to explain how the abilities work from a tecnical standpoint in the same manner that standard classes has it done in the rulebooks where their class spesific abilities are explained in detail as to how exactly they work and why, and when if in any situation, they would -not- work (for instance in a zone of silence or dead magic area)

[Lore] Does each day out of the tenday have a name (like Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday etc. of the week)?

[Lore/Rule] What does True Seeing actually see? Can it pierce through even supernatural shapeshifting from Shifters and Lycanthropes? What's the ruling on this?

[Technical] Is trident still considered a large weapon even with the 1-handed alteration?

[Technical/rule] What weapons may be selected for Monkey Gripping? 1d8/1d8 included?

Oh. Oh this thread is my dream.

[Rules] What is the difference between muling and twinking and what, more specifically, constitutes those things? (As an extension, if a character acquires massive wealth before level 30, is there a hard limit on how much and what they are allowed to possess, even/especially if it comes through legitimate means?)

[Rules] What is standard procedure for interacting with trolls in-game, and how do we solve the issues that then arise?

[Rules] Does the server possess age restrictions on characters, penalties in the upper/lower ranges of those categories, and what qualifies as 'within reason', especially given it depends so heavily on race?

[Rules] Are there general limitations on what/how many factions different characters can be involved with? Does this apply across alternate accounts? Does a place of significant governance automatically qualify as a faction (Winya, Barak Runedar), or does there have to be an actual organization?

[Rules] Can you special request a change in alignment prerogatives without needing to mechanically change your alignment? For example, taking Paladin to mimic Holy Liberator and placing your OOC alignment as lawful good so you can take the class, but actually playing the character as chaotic good.

[Rules] Can you change the demonstration of a magical effect without a request if the end result remains constant? For example, restyling an emote of magic missile to hurl screaming force skulls at people, or using the book of transmutation to convert fireball to acid damage and then playing the result off as something closer to vitriolic sphere?

[Rules] What's the standard for undead characters, particularly ghosts? Does it have to be earned, or can you request a guardian spirit character under the conceit that they must stay bound to a specific area for as long as they are played, barring extraordinary circumstances?

[Rules] To what lengths can you go with technology? Could you request to be an artificer and represent your craft with actual spells from the wizard class, and simply say that they are gadgets?

[Rules] Is it legal to deliberately base a character concept off an existing property, so long as you play the character as a separate entity? The best example I can think of would be, dare I say it, Drizzt clones.

[Rules] If you're playing a deposed or exiled noble with no more ties or resources from their family of origin, does a request still need to be made? And what organizations does this apply to?

[Rules] Are we allowed to come up with special items on our own for RP purposes, like cursed objects, or do these need a request? The caveat and reason why I ask is because I refer to items that aren't physically in your inventory, and serve only a roleplaying purpose.

[Rules/Lore] Can powerful Diviners do the classical diviner things like see into the future, read people's minds, and make prophecies like they do in P&P, or is this something limited to DMNPCs? For the record, I would completely accept an 'Amians are immune to fate' handwave.

[Rules/Lore] Does Amia allow Shadowspies and Gray Guards -- that is, good followers of good deities and causes that are given special permission to use morally ambiguous or even outright evil methods to accomplish their tasks? Does it depend on the deity (since divine casters are really the only classes we have right now with a true code on conduct that must be followed)?

[Rules/Lore] If you have two or more divine spellcasting classes, can their spells come from different sources? Like relying on Tyr for your paladin magic but praying to Hoar for ranger spells?

[Rules/Lore] What classes or templates can add to a character's lifespan, and by how much? I know Dragon Disciple and Pale Master ostensibly do, but Blackguard and Dwarven Defender are more fuzzy. Further, without whatever strange and esoteric P&P magic mages in Faerun have available as a standard rule, do wizards simply have longer lifespans, or are we expected to roleplay out a ritual to add to this?

[Rules/Technical?] If you want to reskin something more-or-less permanent like a familiar, are you supposed to make the request before you create your character?

[Lore] How heavily invested in their absurdly powerful priests and holy warriors are the gods in relation to Amia? As far as I know by canon, a 30th level cleric would have an entirely unique position, so how is that represented? Tea with their deity on Wednesdays? Requests for divine intervention? Do pure clerics get fewer restrictions on spells like divination and miracle?

[Lore] What are aasimar, exactly? Are they only very distant descendents of celestials, like Dragon Disciples, or can they be closer to a powerful being? Mulhorandi lore suggests that their aasimar come from lineages forged by intimate contacts with actual gods -- what do these unions produce in the first generations? Celestials, half-celestials, titans, something else? And can an Amian aasimar be distantly related to a god? Which gods would do this? Do they get special treatment, particularly if they are also divine casters?

[Lore] Can genasi be aasimar, in a way? For example, if Grumbar mates with a human, would his descendents be aasimar, earth genasi, both? Or does an aasimar lineage overrule a genasi one? Usually genasi are assumed to be results of unions with 'lesser' spirits like naiads and djiini, but would a deity with a strong connection to the elements also be able to create one?

[Lore] Do more, ah, 'esoteric' forms of magic and martial prowess that are part of D&D have a place in Faerun? Psionics are confirmed, but what about binding, truenaming, incarnum, the Way of Nine Swords, and so on?

[Lore] Can shadowdancers manifest a notable control over shadows, or do they just have 'magic tricks'? I assume it is somewhere in between, as they can animate their own shadows, but if I want to entangle someone in a net of physical darkness, would I be able to go to a shadowdancer or would I have to find a shadowcaster/shadow weave practitioner/particularly morbid illusionist?

[Lore] If you are a natural/magical shapeshifter and you become a lycanthrope, can you control your changes?

[Lore] Can you be a good-aligned necromancer? Better question; if you're careful and considerate, can you retain a good alignment while still tracking with undead?

[Lore] Do raptorans exist? For that matter, what can we assume about splatbook races that aren't explicitly a part of Faerun, period?

[Lore] How are we treating Eladrin on Amia? I'm fairly certain they completely shift lore every edition.

[Technical-ish] What's some good, general advice for helping players who are supposed to be roleplaying a tactical mastermind to actually demonstrate tactical superiority?

[Mechanics] If a request is approved, is it possible to 'graft' class features or spells onto a character who wouldn't normally be able to access them? For example, a bardic Lyric Thaumaturge who specializes in converting sonic energy into actual force learning magic missile.

[Mechanics] This falls under 'wouldn't it be cool if' as opposed to 'things we can actually do with the engine', but is it feasible for a character with two divine power sources to combine them, like a Druid/Cleric version of Ultimate Magus?

[Mechanics] Another 'wouldn't it be cool if'...is it possible to use shields as weapons in their own right, or at the very least supplementary ones?

[Mechanics] Why doesn't Divine Champion have Turn Undead 'cause they can get Extra Turning?

[Lore] In what ways does the Amian setting differ from the standard 3.5 lore in terms of world events?

Going along that line, first..

[Lore/Rules] What 3.5e books and lore has the Team ruled to not find fitting for the setting of Amia? i.e. 'Races of War as a whole' and such. Or 'This part of The Guide to Fey.' Please be as specific as possible!

[Lore] What was the Triumvir? Do we know?

[Technical/Rules] How does one go about requesting a DM for your faction? Do you just 'shop around' or is there a way to streamline the process? Is there a set response time? What happens when noone responds?

[Mechanics] Where does the job crafting boxes pop up from?

[Lore] What has been changed to home brew in the Amia world and what is still by the books?

[Mechanics/Lore] Why does Dwarven ale give a 1 in alcohol taste?

[Rules] How many mixes of blood can have a single character? (human, celestial, demon, kobold, dragon...)

[Lore] Can someone "cleanse" tiefling in the way, that he will purge the abyssal heritage from his blood?

[Lore/Technical] What is the official duration time for characters pregnancy? Full IRL months according to race or a smaller time? And is there some formula chart for the chances of a character becoming pregnant?
