For the next hak release, I plan to focus primarily on body armours, with the main focus being on the torso and upper legs. A major change that'll happen with what I'm making is that I'm combining the thighs, pelvis, torso and upper arms into a single slot that will be available as a robe. For those of you who don't know what I just said, I will basically be eliminating the seams caused by the pelvis and shoulders, hopefully giving us some much more modern-looking (in terms of graphics, not apparel) character models and outfits. Here's how the body parts will be broken up, using a handy WoW character for demonstration: The pink area is where the big changes are taking place. Keep in mind that this won't in any way remove or replace the 'old-style' bodies or armours, but my focus is going to be on producing stuff according to this layout and making our characters look at least a little nicer. Now, here's what I need from you: I want to know what you, the player, want to see from other games. One of the ways I can cut corners is to take models from other games and clean them up for NWN use. It saves me a lot of time and texturing work in most cases. So, if you want to see something from another game, post it here with: 1. A screenshot. 2. A link to the model if it's available online. 3. A description of what it is and what game it's from. The best chance of you seeing your requested suit of armour ingame is if you either link me directly to the model or to an easy way to access it. I will not buy games just to pull a model you want, so do your research and get me a way to get it. Generally, your best bets for easy model pulls are BioWare games or their sequels handled by other companies, as well as any game with a lively modding community (which often have models available as part of new or retextured armour sets) such as the Elder Scrolls series (TES4 and up please, Morrowind doesn't do seamless models well). Standard disclaimer: I am a player. What you want may not be what you get, if at all. Anything you suggest must be made by me and then approved by the staff for inclusion. I will work on requests as they suit my fancy and am not promising I will get to yours in the order it was submitted or at all.

It isn't from another game, but I just asked Pony a few days ago if the coat models currently available as robes could be included as cloak models; especially if you can "delete" the static torso some of them come with so it shows the armor torso beneath. So many options then.

How about all the sets?!!?!? Most of those have several problems that unfortunately will prevent them from translating to NWN: 1. Giant fluffy arms. NWN and the armpit joint do not play well together. Puffy sleeves do not help this. 2. Mantles. Again, arm joint. It'll stretch the mesh and look terribly out of place every time you move. 3. Bulky. A lot of those are just so large the clipping issues would be impossible to remedy on a NWN model. 4. Too much skin. Some of them are just kind of goofy with how much they bare. Some might be doable, but I wouldn't get your hopes up on more than one or two.

Yeah I totally see that, but if you can get even a few of those I feel it would've been a worthy post!

Have a lot of ideas for this, so consider this a placeholder for when I get home. In particular it would be amazing to see more options for 0AC armor!

My Initial ideas for this actually revolve around historical armours which may complement what we have and can make already. My First thoughts actually resolved around the Romanesque skirts, (Which always seemed a bit odd) and armours that can be made. So I present suggestions for the "Chessentan Collection." I think some Greek and Roman armours would be quite good as Chessenta is based on a blend of these historical cultures. Not only is it fairly close to Mulhorand, but a lot of them fight as mercenaries in other lands, including Mulhorand. It may be interesting to be able to represent these mercenaries. I believe we can already put together the Banded armour, the Lorica Segmentata, together using a robe, chest and shoulders already included. That is the typical view of a Roman Legionaire. Before they wore this heavier armour, and for a long time afterwards if you were a legionaire.... This would be the armour you wore. The Lorica Hamata. As it doesn't have anything on the arms, it seems ideal to this chest and united thigh. Another option, which supplements the Muscled chest piece and other paraphernalia which can make the more tradition version of the Hoplite. Here is a picture of what I mean. And one final thing I can think of right now. After playing a dwarf and being frustrated by the lack of kilt. I think something highland will look pretty nice. Something like this... or maybe two versions. A clothing version, and one with a leather breastplate or something would be grand Esspiecially for dwarves!

Reviewing your constraints and seeing it wasn't added to the original set what can be done about the brass set visible at (2m18s)Seems to fit all except for maybe a wonky helmet issue. Let me know if that's more in line with the sort of slim model you're looking for, or if it's still got issues.

Well.. this is not from a game, so I cannot send you a link. But since it's a "Robe" and you are working on those, I thought perhaps you'd be interested in getting this particular "challenge" (though considering your skills..... ^^) Here's the picture if you are interested (colouring by fanatik_x from deviantart) (Careful, Bleach spoiler) http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/ ... 78q7fs.pngI am especially interested in the ribbon at the back and the super long sleeves (!!!), however the entire robe is simply gorgeous and I would love to see something similar in-game

I like the idea of a chest the mid thigh chain with a belt and a tunic underneath.

Boots that look like real boots where foot and shin are one.
Mittens for gloves (goes with the fur)
Bare chests/forearms/shoulders/legs etc with varying amounts of musculature.

What's the poly count limit for individual pieces and what texture maps can be used for making these? Also, what file format must the models be in?

So if I make something in Maya and send it to you, you can convert it to the proper file format and use it? Also, are you sure there are no limits on texture maps? Everything I see in NwN seems pretty flat so I thought bump/normal/displacement maps aren't supported.. what about specular? EDIT: Also, do parts of the model need to be labeled in any specific way for the recoloring system to work properly? EDIT: Nevermind.. found a pdf that explains everything. If anyone else wants to play around with this here is the link http://www.unixhelper.org/games/nwn/Cus ... 0v2_01.PDF

Keep your models within the following limits or I'll have to chop them down:
Poly limit: Shields: 200 Weapons: 150 Hands: 100 Forearms: 50 Biceps: 100 Neck: 50 Shoulders: 100 Chest: 300 Pelvis: 200 Belt: 100 Thighs: 150 Shins: 150 Feet: 100
Combined piece limits (for robe slots): Chest + Pelvis + Belt: 500 Chest + Pelvis + Belt + Thighs: 600 Chest + Pelvis + Belt + Biceps: 600 Chest + Pelvis + Belt + Thighs + Shins: 700 Chest + Pelvis + Belt + Biceps + Forearms: 700 Full body except feet and forearms and hands: 1000 Full body: 1200
I'll explain the limits as well:
NWN loads all of a character's polygons at once. This is part of the reason you experience significant lag when sighting a group of PCs but not a group of monsters; the PCs' models are far more polygon-heavy and require a lot more for your machine to render. PCs on Amia can be anywhere from 700 polygons all the way up to 5000 or so already, and what I'm trying to do is rein in the limits on anything I make to prevent a spate of the 5000s. A very fancy PC really shouldn't pass about 1500-2000 polygons for their entire character model, as that's about the upper limit for monster models as well before things start getting laggy.
tl;dr: Keep it simple or I'll mangle it until it's within my limits.

Yea I had the same numbers in mind. I've looked at all the programs and stuff I'd had to download to make this work and it's really putting me off. Can you use a file that was made in Maya 2012 or Max 2010?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0lxxtwa4aiyl0 ... 1.png?dl=0Also, should it all be one mesh if it's a robe or a separate mesh for each piece(chest/pelvis/thighs/etc). And when I ask if there should be more edges on the shoulders I mean all the joints in general. Usually 3 is good for animation deformation but I don't know how Nwn handles these things. Maybe you can post an image of a robe piece that's already in game so I can get a better idea of how it's supposed to look?

It's easiest for me if you save it in .obj format, it doesn't update often and really I'm just applying the raw mesh to a skeleton anyway.
If it's not a single piece it is a robe. You do not need to apply skeletons, I am working with the mesh itself. If you're really up for skeleton work I can farm some off to you. Try to make the mesh in such a way that'll deform well at the joints, last thing I want is weird polygons I have to fix way down the line.

For something like the shield it would be cool if we could tie it to a widget like the scabbard a and scabbard b currently are so you could easily equip and remove it from your back. The backpack is the same sort of thing.

The backpack is the same sort of thing. I don't do the scripting, just the modeling. What you're thinking of is the wing slot. I'll be sure to include models there as well, I hadn't even thought of that. That'd also be a great place for some of the fur mantles and whatnot I'm making. Real northern dorfy stuff.

I'm gonna start with weapon models till I get a little bit more familiar with everything. So, are there any weapons you think have bad models or not enough models or just not the model you would like? Post a picture of what you'd like to see (or draw something yourself) and I'll see what I can do.
EDIT: New thread maybe?

I wanted to thank everyone for the responses, we're going to be heading into the logistics and planning phase of this so for now I won't be taking any more player suggestions. The ones you've supplied are going to make this amazing. I've already explained just what we can do to a few people and we all agree, you're going to lose your minds when you see just what you'll be able to do with your characters once we're done.
I can't estimate when this will be done, but I wouldn't expect the finished thing until after the new year. This is going to blow the amount of work on the head pack away by leaps and bounds.
Thanks guys!

My only reservation is making the new content look TOO much better than the standard stuff, because the game starts to look hodge-podge and weird, not matching with itself, and it having more load than the normal stuff. >_>

Want to know what'll make them really unique? All of these are in the robe slot and completely remove any use for the chest, pelvis and thigh slots. So we're putting wearable accessories in ALL of them. Shields, scabbards, kits, lassos, clubs, axes, bottles, everything. You'll be able to have an entire customizable colorable kit worn on your person, including weapons and a shield on your back at the same time.

Very nice It looks like way more polygons than you posted as the limit but I guess that's just due to the awesome textures. Well done!

Ah, makes much more sense now Also, I think it might be safe to double those poly limits cause they were meant for much older computers.

I am currently going into the robe options, to diversify the tabbards a little bit. Unlike Polris and Eurgiga, I am soley working with textures and not the models. The focus will not be new sigils, but pattern. In the end, I want to have a checker, diamond, stripped and ivy pattern for both the chest and robe piece that players can use to create the combos they like. I will also at a point begin to go through available textures to see if I can diversify a few others. Perhaps throwing a nice ivy pattern on a robe for druids, etc. The current one I am fiddling around with is a cracked and blighted breastplate. Polris, best you add me to skype. For Amia, we have a few limitations we need to keep in mind. Especially polygon number and texture size are important. Anything exceeding a certain size we simply can not add, or else we need to worry about lag issues as a result. Regular contact to avoid issues down the line is pretty important to prevent headaches. For anyone else, if you have suggestions or requests, please let me know.

Looks great so far! The textures themselves are easily adjusted once we test them. Really excited to see more of this!
