Hello! During my time here I have seen several versions of what happens to the remains of a character that is resurrected. Person A slays person B and takes its head. Person B is resurrected by its allies, what happens to the head? On the server I have seen players RP like this after a resurrection: 1. The head still exists like it was, and decomposing. 2. The head has crumbled to dust, and Person A is thus informed that person B has risen again. What is the official take on this? I would love for some clarification!

All other body bits turn to dust, on a resurrection. EDIT: Actually, this is what the SRD says on the spell Quote: This spell functions like raise dead, except that you are able to restore life and complete strength to any deceased creature.
The condition of the remains is not a factor. So long as some small portion of the creature’s body still exists, it can be resurrected, but the portion receiving the spell must have been part of the creature’s body at the time of death. (The remains of a creature hit by a disintegrate spell count as a small portion of its body.) The creature can have been dead no longer than 10 years per caster level.
Upon completion of the spell, the creature is immediately restored to full hit points, vigor, and health, with no loss of prepared spells. However, the subject loses one level, or 2 points of Constitution if the subject was 1st level. (If this reduction would bring its Con to 0 or lower, it can’t be resurrected). This level loss or Constitution loss cannot be repaired by any means.
You can resurrect someone killed by a death effect or someone who has been turned into an undead creature and then destroyed. You cannot resurrect someone who has died of old age. Constructs, elementals, outsiders, and undead creatures can’t be resurrected.
Material Component A sprinkle of holy water and diamonds worth a total of at least 10,000 gp.

Does the subject lose 1 level also? I know the caster of true rez gets zapped one level so people with lopped heads should too imo

Think we misunderstood eachother True rez drops the caster one level. Quote: True Resurrection In order for a cleric to validly cast this spell, they must have a DM witness the casting, as well as pay a full level's worth of XP and 15 diamonds, or the monetary equivalent of 25000 gold. This can be modified if the DM overseeing the roleplay feels the need to. Just wondering if not DM supervised Resurrections should drop the subject a level too

And then every other PvP you would require DM-overseen resurrections, people bitching at other players for spitefully attempting to hobble the losing PC, and god-awful messes of stat-management should the beheadee have Dragon Disciple levels. Not a good idea. You'd have better luck convincing the playerbase that PvP should result in permadeath.
Anyway yeah I always thought it was weird how on Amia severed body parts dusted when the person was res'd, but that's how it's been for a while.

I didn't misunderstand you, no Only True resurrection has such a cost imposed on Amia, resurrection doesn't and shouldn't for reasons Serb mentioned. But yes, Amia has always been like that it seems with stuff turning to dust, but not where it started from or even how 'official' it is given that's not what happens normally (in PnP)

I was under the impression (right or wrong I don't know) that the "turning to dust" was the result of a true resurrection. Meaning, you didn't have any body to work with, or it was in another location, so the cleric 'recreates' the the creature and restores it's soul through divine magic. Any remains that existed then turn to dust.
As opposed to a plain resurrection where you have even a scrap of the body to work with. This restores full life and health, but doesn't affect the "other remains" that may have been left elsewhere? Logic dictates they would decompose naturally unless something else was done with them.

Any parts that remain intact after a body has been destroyed crumble to dust once Resurrection is cast. Same for True Resurrection.

What about if the person was to get a raise dead and regeneration cast on them?

The raise dead would fail on a badly mutilated corpse so regeneration would be pointless after that. Regenration cast first wouldn't work on a corpse so the raise dead after that would fail likewise.
Also, please mind as a lot of people had this wrong and think keeping some blood with a friend is a sure way to return from death: A bodypart counts only as viable for ressurection if taken from the body after the time of dying.

Interested to know what would happen if two people cast resurrection (as described above) on two separate body parts of the same person at exactly the same time.
Would one spell override the other, or would it break the universe?

First, the odds of that happening are slim - at best. Secondly, all that would happen is the soul of the departed would have to choose one of the two "calls" to return to the mortal coil. Likely something based upon the deity of the caster, etc.
