Friends and Fendel,

As you likely heard by now our fellow Dalesman Kerim was brutally tortured by some of the Thayans. I am looking into this through diplomatic means as we speak but I need some time. I also need some information from Kerim, our meeting yesterday was disrupted twice.

For the moment I call upon you for calm and reason. In no case should 'revenge' be taken on the Thayans. There will be no attacking or haressing Thayans on our lands by residents.
If you see visitors attacking them on our land try to end the conflict or stay out of it. I urge you not to attack them off of your lands either.

The Thayans as a group have been banned and are not allowed in the town proper for several reasons. If you see any of them inside escort them out and inform me at once.
They are not to be killed on sight.

Dear Bendir Dale citizens,

Some of you may or may not know me. My name is Kerim Heledir, the Ambassador for Bendir on the Western Coast. As a representative I should have a positive impact on my environment. Recently a rumor has spread that I, Kerim Heledir, tortured a man named Kel'zod, in Khem Ne'sek. The rumor is true, I did torture Kel'zod. I wish to send out my dearest apologizes to all of the Bendir Dale Citizens, and say I will change for the better. I can assure each and every one of you that I shall not torture another man or women, beast or creature again. I will lead a positive life to impact Bendir at my highest quality. I do hope every one of you forgive me, but I know your trust may be hard to gain. Please if you ever wish to chat, or just meet me in person. I am found in the Dale almost every day doing work. Feel free to stop by at any given time of the day. If I'm not there I will seek you out, personally. Let's all make Bendir Dale a better place.

Health and the Apostolic,

- Kerim Heledir

Maybe it's just me, but I never seem to hear about stuff until after the fact. I try to weed through all the posts, but some just get so long that I tend to miss stuff as a result. Would it be possible to make postings with sub-posts for like the Town Hall meetings and such so it would be easier to see all the issues and or disuss them independantly. I think this would allow for each topic to have its own thread and be easily seen without needed to read a lot of text, some of which is unneccesary. It could be like the Auction Forums like for example:

:!: Town Hall Meetings! :!: (Main Topic used to list the times and dates and/or locations of each meeting)
 War council
 Mage guild
 Drow, banned or not?
 The council/ tasks that need to be done
 Banning policy

Each  would be their own topics/thread for people to commnet and whatnot or vote when nessecary)

ALSO, when there are town matters that are to be voted on by the community, using this same method we could set-up polls for each to vote on, and since the forum vote can only be one per forum user, it would eliminate the "Only vote with one character and not all your alts" as your get just the single vote, no matter what.

Just some ideas to help make the forums easier to read for people with A.D.D. like me. Thoughts?

No its isn't if you click on Town Hall Meetings, it opens the dialouge screen were everyone makes their comments, I'm talking about like the Auctions forum that has that smaller sub-link. when you click on Auction Baords it take you to a screen were there are other submissions from several people individually.

Like this, but with Town Hall Meetings instead of Auctions and under the Bendir Dale header instead of PC Notice Board

So it would look like this (more or less):

Can we please not replace in game town meetings and votes with forum stuff? The town meetings are a pain in the butt, since they happen at around 4-6 am on a Monday for me but I still prefer them to just not seeing other players and their characters.

I'd rather not make sub forums for topics that are only temporary such as drow banning.

I can't make subforums myself so I'd have to ask an admin for it and while I am sure they would assist they won't do it for every topic that springs up.

It's a nice idea but it takes a lot of time to set up forums and sub forums so I am very hesistant, especially as it won't be my time due to the above.

I find the poll a bit silly. It's basicly voting if someone else (an admin in this case) has to do a lot of extra work since creating forums is fairly complicated.

If anything, a series of tags could be created that could be added at the end of Topic name's. Something that could be ctrl+f'd?

I don't want to replace anything ICly by any means, I just meant as far as what happens in said meetings, or important issues needing the town's approval, or any furture items needing to be voted on. It was a broad comment I was making and I used the Town Hall Meetings merely as an example.

shadowclasper wrote:

This is what I was trying to accomplish, I don't want to "replace" anything, just create a better distribution of information.

Anderson wrote:

I'm fine with this (I think), I'm not the savviest Forum user out there, so excuse me if I seem ignort to the "ways of the forum" (And this is probably most of the problems on my end).

HOWEVER, with everything being said, I don' think it's fair that only a handful of people should make town-wide decisions because they could login for that moment and others couldn't due to real life "getting in the way" or sleep (due to times zones). Obviously, EVERTHING doesn't have to be a community decision, I'm just taking about the "bigger ones" that should be and/or if they are voted on to just make the "results" easier to find. I'm on at least 4-6 hours daily and 8-12 hours if not more, on weekends, yet somehow miss most of the meetings myself due to circumstances I can't always control. I felt pretty dumb the other night playing and suddenly learning about so many things my character "should have" known, but I didn't because I didn't read/see it on the forums.

This is just my own personal opinion, and I by no means run anything or have any authority to do or change anything outside of what I do IG and I will continue to do so. So please don't take this as me trying to be a dick and tell people what to do. All I'm trying to do is get informed of those things I miss when not IG that I should know about and be apart of the community things Nick or anyother character would be apart of if this wasn't a "fantasy life" we live.

A notice sealed with the triple wheat stalk of Bendir Dale, and the Holy Symbol of Waukeen is posted on the Dale's noticeboard.

Quote:
Attention to all Trade Partners of Bendir Dale!

In all matters in trade, the office of the treasury has stood conflicted in the past few tendays. As the harvest grows closer, we have seen troops from the Treaty of Light come to the Dale to protect our farmers. Demons plague the shores of this fair island, and tensions have grown higher amongst all living here. But most worriedly, the island is full of rumor and hearsay about who is seeking to harm everyone else.

As a member of the Church of Waukeen, this hurts me above all things. Waukeen teaches that the worst thing anyone can do is to spread false rumor about another in order to harm trade - and in my time negotiating trade across this island I have seen more of this than I can bear. The disunity and venomous whispers of this island bring sadness to my heart, especially in the face of such a terrible enemy that threatens all of us. It is likely that many of us will have nowhere to call home by Autumn, yet we still indulge petty rivalry and political aspirations above working for the safety of this island.

And so; as a devotee of the Merchant's Friend, I shall do my duty in two ways. I announce that the division of Bendir Dale's projected record harvest export shall be even and fair - divided according to the population of all who come to discuss a final contract. Should those responsible agree to our terms, no mouth on this island shall go hungry. But, that is the stipulation: Those responsible must agree to our terms.

The terms of the Dale's trade for wartime measures are as follows:

In addition to whatever agreed upon payment, those who take responsibility for any trade agreement must come personally to the Dale. Whilst in Bendir Dale, they must stand before the Altar of Yondalla and swear before our very gods, under the scrutiny of the divine power of the Protector and Provider, that they shall use all trade goods exchanged in the name of wartime measures in order to combat the Amnish and the Arcanum. And they must do so in the spirit of unity against this threat which seeks to harm all of us.

Second, they must swear a binding oath to the effect of the above; enforced by the divine power of either the Merchant's Friend, or the God(s) served by the Oath taker. Should any be found to be immune to such a binding oath before the gods, they must nominate a second who can enforce this oath within their jurisdiction. Let it be known that any who break such an oath, or are found to violate the terms of the contract through unforeseen shall face potential sanctions from the Church of Waukeen in trade both domestic and abroad.

This offer is open to any willing to agree to the terms above and an appropriate discounted payment, with alternate terms open to those who cannot afford to pay due to dire economic circumstances. If the terms of fighting an enemy who wants us all dead, and getting along with everyone else who is fighting this enemy are not acceptable then no amount of trade goods will help you to begin with. If you can agree to these terms, you will get a fair amount of supplies according to the needs of your people.

With hope, this one concession to truth in the name of helping your people will dispel the foul air of political backstabbing and rumor mongering that keeps everyone from uniting against those who threaten our homes and families.

On his next visit to the Dale, Aaegus seeks out Treasurer Vindle to speak of the final arrangements for the trade of food goods. Not finding her at the town hall, he instead leaves a sealed note for her on her desk before he departs.

*Posted outside the Dale's Gates*

I am currently in the business of crafting golems for the Dale.

While the Dale Governing Body itself is capable of commissioning me for any set of golems at cost, I cannot offer the same services to others given the efforts and time involved.

For any particular golem I need the following:
1) Building materials.
--->Stone Golem:at least 3000 lbs of stone for any normal stone golem. Less or more depending on what size you want it at.
--->Iron Golem: Golem Parts, and as much as 5000lbs of pure iron (less if given enough golem parts), plus 10,000gp for materials, and another 10,000 gp for paying for smelting services necessary to mix the pure iron and the materials to create a proper alloy able to hold and contain an elemental safely.
--->Other golem types vary in material costs.
2) Paper and ink, as well as time spent studying golems to craft a Golem Field Guide. Giving me an actual golem field guide is appropriate as well.
3) A further renumeration for the actual preforming of the animation ritual, summoning of the elemental that powers the golem, and instruction on controlling and deploying the golem, is negotiable between gold and services rendered at the completion of the project, or at a future date.

Mayor Nof and Sir Whurak,

Sir Tuomas Valo has been injured in the line of duty last night. He has been healed but has still taken quite a beating and will thus likely be unavailable for a (hopefully short) while.
He is currently resting comfortably in the Temple of the Triad and will be in touch with you when he's feeling better.
If there are any questions or anything I can do to help support his temporary absence, please send me word.

Mayor Nof,

There was an offensive in the north towards the Beastmen south of Kohlingen, as it is thought that they are being supported and manipulated by the Arcanum. He was called back to the city of Kohlingen to offer his magical support to the offensive while I remained behind to oversee the village in the case of being needed with the men.

He was wounded during the offensive and is recovering in the city of Kohlingen, though I am sadly lacking as to the actual details of how. I can only assume that he will resume his post in a few days.

In order to keep the people of the Treaty of Light informed regarding the developments of the war effort, the War Council of the Alliance shall be releasing regular statements. Inquires can be sent to the Dragonstone Keep.

The Threat of the Blood Mage Amon:
Several days ago the Arcanum blood mage known as Amon was eliminated as a threat to the people of Amia and the Realm by the valiant efforts of Dame Alanna, member of the War Council of the Alliance on behalf of the Duchy of Cordor. With his death, another hard blow has been dealt to the efforts of the Arcanum. Two of the blood mages now have fallen against the Alliance efforts.

Military Support for Bendir Dale:
In answer to the request of Bendir Dale for military support, the Alliance has determined to stand by our southern neighbor with a garrison of two-hundred soldiers of Kohlingen and Barak Runedar. The Heartland Expeditionary Force stands under command of Thaegn Whurak Valtenson of Barak Runedar, a war proven veteran, tactician and a commander of the Winter War, as well as member of the War Council of the Alliance.

Military action against the Mercenary Encampmment:
The suspected threat of the Mercenary Encampment being used by the Thayans against Kohlingen was confirmed. Due to the Thayan aggression on Kohlingen soil, military action was required by the Holy City and her allies. This was carried out under the command of Lord Ulrik Valis. After the surrender of Captain Dane on behalf of his men of the Mercenary Encampment, a non-aggression pact was signed with the Treaty of Light and the Thayans are now banished from the encampment. In addition, the encampment remains under Kohlingen jurisdiction for the forseeable future. The caverns between the mercenary camp and the Greengarden District are now sealed.

A military funeral will be held for the brave men and women who fell in the battle to protect the people of Kohlingen. We ask that all offer their prayers for their souls and the families and friends they left behind.

Military Offensive against the Beastmen:
During the Beastmen Siege of Kohlingen two years ago, intelligence reports had indicated that Cordorian-Arcanum agents had bolstered their efforts in order to weaken the city-state of Kohlingen. In order to minimize the threat of the Beastmen being employed for the efforts against Kohlingen once more, a preemptive strike was planned.

Yesterday, Kohlingen with the support of the Emerald Rose Guard, this military offensive against the beastmen was executed. Under command of Lord Ulrik Valis and Sir Tuomas Valo.

While a harsh blow as dealt against our old enemy, it was discovered that the Beastmen have continued and apparently expanded their demonic-worshipping practices. In addition, it was confirmed that there are a number of additional large lairs in the wilds between Kohlingen and Uhm.

Military Offensive against the Thayans:
Shortly after the offensive against the Beastmen, with the support of the Emerald Rose Guard and two adventurers, Kohlingen conducted a military offensive against the Thayan cell of Amia at Kampo's, in response to an intelligence report that indicated they were preparing to attack our neighbor of Winya Ravana once more. All six of the Thayan cell present were felled in a quick and efficient battle when they refused to surrender.

Support for Military Families:
Two years ago during the Winter War in Brogendenstein, Kohlingen established a fund to support the families of the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. We encourage all who can spare a little of their hard earned coin to help provide for these families with donations to the fund for the upcoming conflicts against both Amn and Thay.

I apologize for my absence, indeed as Mister Whurak has indicated I was called back to support a sortie against the Beastmen. Follow up action afterwards was where I was wounded to a point I required rest back at the Temple of Kohlingen, but I have returned now and will set out oncce more to attend my duties directly.

Hello everyone,

Since we face dark days ahead and only the gods know when we will be able to do this again I think we should organise a big party to celebrate life and good times while we can (meaning soon.)

I am hoping for a great day full of games, good cheer and a lot of good food and drink.

I am especially looking for great ideas on fun games and assistance with organising all of this. We'll need some good prizes as well for the winners of the games as well ofcourse.

Let's have a good time while we can!

-Nof

A less public note is left for Nof.

General Mayor,

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a little bit rude to have a party with "lots of good food and drink" when we might very well be short on food over the coming months, what with war and stuff happening? It's like slapping our friends in the faces and taking from the supplies that could save folk from starving if bad things happen to our home. A party is all well and good - and I encourage one, of course! But I don't think we should be irresponsible right now, you know?

What good is life if you don't celebrate it occasionally?

We'll honour our agreements to our friends ofcourse but you can't let a man (or woman) work all year on the field and then not have a good party when harvest time comes and instead tell them to preserve all the food.

We've all been working hard for two years and are finally seeing the fruits of it after last years ruined harvest so I think we should enjoy atleast some of it while we can especially if we can while still honour any agreements we entered in.
It's not like we have had many parties since the end of the blight party.

-Nof

P.s. I invite any and all to give their oppinions since this should be a communal decision and not one made by me.

I'd like to help out in any way. I could help by hosting the party in my new soon to open tavern located on the Sandy Beach cliffs and can provide any drinks and food needed as well.

Let me know,
NICK

The Harvest festival is traditionally a time to pay respect to the gods for the bounty of the land. While I'm not the town's spiritual adviser, I still highly recommend that we don't begin to take the blessings of the Gods for granted. Especially considering the end of the Blight seemed to be divine in nature.

I don't think we're so inhospitable as to not invite our allies to this, and more importantly a lot of the good soldiers in our town might not be living this time next month. Or even next Tenday. I'd prefer that they at least had one good day before they march off to war.

We didn't have Nof's mayor party too, so wouldn't this offset everything?
I say go for it!

I have a few ideas if you're interested. Don't worry, it's not going to be like anything I suggested last time!

Good people of Bendir Dale,

It has been told to me that your land has seen hard times in the recent past, and has not had a servant of nature to help tend your fields properly since it's recovery. I offer my aid to your land, to bless your fields and enrich your crops.

I will perform a ceremony in front of Town Hall in two days to begin blessing your lands so that you may see bigger yields and strong growth. I ask any who are able to attend to pay their respects to the land that provides you so much and see the display of nature's beauty.

Earthmother's blessings to you.

I'm not sure who told you the lands had not been blessed, but a Cleric of Yondalla blessed the lands and prayed for plentiful crops during the celebration of the curse being lifted. That being said, there is no such thing as too many blessings so I welcome your blessings with open arms and look forward to the coming celebration as a result.

P.S. Let's make sure there is lots of pies!

Nick,

As this land's customs and meanings are foreign to me, I am unsure if clerics are the same here, but what I offer is a druidic spell that will enrich the growth of your crops up to one third their typical yield. This will not work if such a spell has already been cast though. If you can clarify the exact blessing that was performed, this would be helpful to me. Otherwise what I offer is a more practical spell for the fields.

Since we don't have a keeper of the land the lass is more then welcome then to assist indeed.
