I want to to roleplay the use of a Sending spell, and I want to use it right, so I'm just going to see what other people think.

Imagine this scenario:
Bob the Mage is at a tavern, having a drink with a very prestigious foreign trader of goods, and his conversation is of utmost importance. His girlfriend, Matilde the Maid getting hit on by some smooth talking bard, but he can't spare the time to interrupt the exchange, because the foreign trader is in a hurry, and he could loose the important trade relation. Bob has the metamagic feats "Silent Spell" and "Still Spell", so he casts the spell silently, consuming some material components from his components pouch, and sends the message "Leave the girl alone, or I'll transmute your breath to smell like cow dung... permanently." Bob carries on his conversation with the trader, and 10 minutes later, after the spell is finished casting, the bard receives the message.

Is that a valid scenario?

Unless you have the auto still/silent feats, not really. As can only apply one metamagic feat at a time.

Well a couple of things in addition to what Rigela said:

1. Sending has a casting time of 1 round / 6 seconds, not 10 mins.
2. Sending requires a spoken message of 25 words or less, as such the trader would overhear it.

Essentially casting it silently would be useless, save for the actual incantation part being silent, the message would still have to be spoken verbally. However if you had automatic still, you could apply silent to it normally to have both take effect.

edit: brain poop. Should know better than to post close to 4am. I have no idea what spell I was looking at, but yeah it's 10 mins. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/sending.htm

The Duration of Sending is 6 seconds (1 round). The Casting Time is 10 minutes. Plus, it doesn't specify a spoken message, simply that the spell has a vocal component. Silent spell would work, but even stilled and silenced, casting requires your full concentration, so your attention would be entirely on the spell. It would be impossible to engage in a conversation while casting a Sending.

And as a pnp spell it needs the consent of all involved. The casting time is indeed 10 minutes.

Why wait? Cast "Demand" like a proper impatient enchantress. >.>

No, it's not a possible scenario. It doesn't take 10 minutes to reach the target, it takes 10 minutes to cast. Also it requires material, somatic and verbal component. It cannot be used as telepathy.

True, but if the caster has both Autostill II and Autosilent II ...

It still requires a material component (or divine focus) and 10 minute casting. :)

10mins? ...that's a lot of timestops.
