I don't have the men to man even more wall then we have now.

You know as well as I that most of our kin are not interested in militia training and duty.

We should only allow banned individuals back in if they deposit a large amount of gold. We can use that to purchase golem materials or hire mercenaries.

Golems are ideal for dangerous postings such as near the carts. If one is damaged or destroyed no life is lost.

Good news, we can work on the two stone golems right away as a master stone mason is kind enough to donate the stone we need for them! Now we just need the proper area and for him to carve the proper things.

Speak of which: Sir nof, is there anything specific that should be carved upon the chest and arms of the golems? any insignia or such?

You're talking about at the very least a minimum of 8-digit sums, right? That'd make people think twice about getting banned again, after paying 10,000,000 gold to be allowed back in.

I'll leave that to you adventuring types and the conclave.

Personally I find five thousand gold a lot already. Amounts like ten million just baffle me but it seems adventuring types pay that cheerfully for a -belt- these days.

A belt!

-Nof

P.s. As for carvings on the golems how about a big 'behave or be flattened!' on the chest?

Hello!

I decided it would be a good idea to put the times I will be on the client and specificly in Bendir Dale so if you want to do something that needs a dm in the Dale you know when to do it. (This doesn't mean it's impossible at other times but at these times you can be certain a DM is around.)

Exemples would be:

-Joining a clan/ discussing joining one
-Breaking a ban/ trying to do any harm inside the walls
-Trying to catch Nof between meals
-Digging around caves

All times mentioned are GMT +1/ CET

I think Jack was exaggerating on that one, but I'm all for tieing people upside down on the golems when they're bad, having Brandy and Rose paint on them, you know, humiliation and that.

I think a reasonable price to be let back in... Hear me out now, 10,000. I want to add another digit, but that'd be judging the common wealth (Not the Cordor Common Wealth common wealth but the peoples wealth.) Against my current wealth.

-Theadric Shortwick.

P.S. Hey, Nof, wanna buy this belt of stone giant strength I got for eight million?

The last two tithed 20,000 to Yondalla, apologized, and understood that ANY sorta shenanigans and they'd never be allowed back in EVER. It apparently isn't enough. Perhaps a million to the community coffer? Even then I'm leering of that not being enough of a deterrent and our good will being abused.

If we get the golems the lack of militia will mean a bit less. We'll have golems! Mirnia is heading the project which is greatly appreciated by all! I will assist and do most of the protective spell work on it. I would hold off carving to much Mirnia so it doesn't collide with were we are going to need to scrib spells, though behave or get flattened has a great deal of appeal.

Nof has a firm grasp of the issue. Fines should serve two purposes:

1) Deterrence
2) Paying for defences to ensure that if #1 doesn't work to end the attacks then #2 surely will.

Fines should be sufficient to both tasks. It appears at the present time they are sufficient to neither.

Golems are fine and unobjectionable. However a tower or platform from which hin war slingers and gnomish mages can make use of our innate advantages is also advisable. I have seen such employed to devastating effect in other lands.

Boaz

PostScript - it is against my better judgement to comment on civil affairs, however the stakes being what they are all citizen voices should be weighed. Thus I provide mine.

I agree on the movement on a price of 500 thousand to 1 million in tax for that sort of things, but I do push that it be for ANYONE even halflings & gnomes who cause issues. Such as brandy, while I understand her god, still likes to start tossing poison bombs in the village if she does not get her way. (Talk to Wilfire if you want a second voice on that matter.)

The golem's carvings will be simple, they need not be extravagant for the magic runes to be places, normally i make a core and have all the runes placed on THAT and place it through a slot in the neck before i attach the head on properly. it makes it so the runes can't be damaged by time or battle and it is less likely to explode if damaged.

Anyway.. That being said, the adamantine golem will be near onstopable as it will be equipped with a sword and sheild of the same metals as well and will be FAR more advanced. It will take both breazy and I to enchant it properly and will possible require a special core to function properly int he way we need.

The issue is what you wish their programming to be, my thought was giving all bendir dale high officials a 'golem badge' meaning a special magic badge that allows them to order the golem. Mostly only the elders, high teir militia, mayor, etc. it would allow better proper protection then just saying 'sit here, protect.'

[[Delivered to Town Hall]]

Good Dale Residents,

Today I arrived off a cart from Kampos and was immediately confronted by a giant red dragon, wrapped in spells. It continued to approach me, despite multiple warnings, claiming "peace" and "hugs", but I am not about to trust a combat prepared red dragon with anything.

Approaching after I'd told it to back off, prepared for combat, and in a very evil creature's form, I felt forced to defend myself and killed the creature, which as it fell, returned to it's original shape, the nuisance goblin known as Xkugab, who I know has already had multiple warnings about his behaviour in the Dale.

I fully admit to striking first, but in what I believed was honest defense of my life. Seeing that it was ultimately a stupid move by this goblin, I revived and healed him. After this, he returned to his regular insulting attitude, repeatedly referring to me as "Penis horse man".

I will refrain from suggesting what action is taken and leave it in the hands of the good folk of the Dale.

I Spoke to general Nof and he agree tossing poison bombs inside the Inn is not a 'prank' and does in fact ruin food and can even kill any little ones playing inside, iif you wish to keep talking as if brandy is a kind upstanding person then fine, but i refuse to help you if you will not protect the dale from EVERY threat.
I will not lie, it makes me wonder if you being the dale's mayor was a good idea as i am forced to go to the general to get anything done.

Spell-prepared red dragon, chromatic, evil, prepared to fight. I don't think I can blame this guy, I would've attacked it too. And don't give me that shifter-scroll-user-excuse. If I see a dragon ready to fight who can't explain itself near my home, the people I work to protect, I kill it.

Give this man a medal instead. He attacked what he thought was a dragon, on his own, to protect our home. That takes guts.

The infamous Harlequin would burst out laughing in Town Hall after reading the notes, before leaving her own.

Today I don't think the fool is the prankster, rather the pranked. Leave it to some impure blooded halfling to get her undies tied in a knot.

As honorable as your accusations are, weren't folks trying to get something done here that is excitable and heroic? Like building a really big wall and fighting villains and dangerous vagabonds?

But I have to admit, Moody Mirnia has a good business plan. Put yourself in a position to help, gather the goods and go back on your word, asking for more. Negotiating new terms and pushing her personal vendetta over others. So very clever.

As flattering as all this is, I implore you all to focus on the real matter at hand, albeit I can't blame the weak willed for being so easily charmed by me!

P.S - If you end up a building a wall and need some supplies... I can supply a couple months worth (free to kin) of stink bombs that will make folk generally feel embarrassment, perplexity, confusion, or discomfort from down below! Great tool for clearing an unearthly mob. Looks like the product has been successful in it's endeavor so far.

Throwing -poison- bombs in the Inn is no laughing matter Mayor. Our children and pets play there as well as our elders and both Fendel and me dont consider an Inn full of poison to be funny.
I am much dissapointed in your sense of responsibility for the wee ones and the elders who frequent the Inn. Not to mention the foodstores could be contaminated with brainless actions like these.
If this fool Brandy wants to annoy people she can find ways to do it without harming people or covering Fendels Inn in bloody poison.

N.b. Brandy is no longer welcome in the Inn untill she makes amends to Fendel.

Regarding the tower and walls expansion, a cost cutting measure may well be to station the slingers on the cliff directly behind the carts. On the left as facing the pass to the skullcrags. This would allow us to cover the pass as well as the area where people have been avoiding the guards pretty easily, and we're already apparently doing something similar on the pass to the mylock hills with the upper camp.

One ladder, vs. one tower, and the soldiers are already stationed in that area anyway. We'd just be giving them a wider field of view.

Hah! I can see you shining in your job already!

But if I station slingers on the cliff they'd be cut off if someone scaled the cliff and I rather have my lads stationed within the wall then outside them. Also, the ladder likely would be removed or vandalized so often building a tower in the long run may well be cheaper.

Hence I prefer a tower. This can be a simple wooden tower and it doesn't have to be that high, just high enough to be able to look and shoot over the wall with some battlements so my lads have cover.

-Nof

Why not just a small catwalk or platform with the ladder inside? At least for a the immediate issue and then we can continue to move forward with larger and greater projects.

Consider placing them up there for short term immediate policing concerns, then. For the most part there's already some militia members who seem to be permanently stationed at the pass to the skullcrags, and giving them someone to cover them at range from up there will bolster their security. In the long run it may well be cheaper, but in the short run towers take some time to build.

Alternately have those by the skullcrags pull back a little so they can see what's going on beyond the carts and are closer to that general area where all this trouble always seems to start. It'd keep them from getting bored too much, and keep a few of our "visitors" under a closer eye. This solution requires no ladders, and your men would be no more cut off than they already are, if not less so since they'd be closer to town.

One more possibility (for copper pinching, that is) is to put some people on the bridge gate just by the orchards. They'd be able to see the general area along that wall and would be able to assert a sort of 'bridge tax' to those who aren't in good standing with our fine township. Friends and welcome visitors of course are welcome to pass through on the free bridges within our inner walls and of course be tempted by the wares of our fine merchants, while those who aren't welcome inside the walls will have to add some coin into our economy in exchange for the right to use the bridges and roads that our militia work hard to keep safe with not much to show for it.

Of course, this is coming from the Treasurer who wants to keep the town rolling in swag.

Spring Picnic!!

This week to celebrate the coming of spring, restoration of our land and generally just spend some time lazying about in the sun.

Instead of meeting in Town Hall we will meet out back eat, drink, and catch up on current events. Dancing, laughing, and napping are acceptable alternatives!

So pretty much skipping the meeting this week and having a nice gossip session on the grass. If there's something urgent that can't hold a week that someone wants to discuss well figure it out. After all we have Hingenuity.

Good folk of the Dale,

Word has reached me from a witness that the insane and violent hellballing mage known as Krin, and assassins from Dagger's Double, including Sakhr, "Quickdraw", and apparently one known as "Azu", with potential connection with Nevadan, intend on attacking individuals in the Dale, or the Dale itself.

Krin has already tried to lure his targets outside the Dale with the presence of his hellhound, and all but this Azu that was spoken of to me (as far as I'm aware) have recently been responsible for murder within the Dale.

They show no care for life, and even if the threat is a bluff, their recent presence and assassinations around the Dale should not be taken lightly. It is not within my right to tell the citizens of the Dale what to do, but I would strongly recommend asking people lingering outside the gates to remove their helms, keeping an alert guard presence, and being prepared for an assault (which should include an evacuation plan for all those outside the gates to come within.)

If there is anything I can do in defense of, or any healing I can provide should an attack occur, please let me know and I will give my aid freely.

Be safe.

// Stop metagaming Jake Butler's name as Jake. Quickdraw is the only name which has ever been used in game. 'Jake' has never been said. Stop it.

// Seems like there's more than one person metagaming then. I count three so far. Who else claims they know Jake as Jake? I'll say it again to be clear, the name has NEVER been used in game.

Had to go through this same issue with Broldi, Humanitas and others in the past. Somewhere, someone is cheating. Now that you know, you can stop.

// Let's not detract this thread further. For now, use 'Quickdraw', and we'll investigate the metagaming claim.

I'll train the boys and girls in proper uniforms on proper war slinging. We'll make them a true fright for Tallers to piss off. That hill by the pass can offer an extra eye on the orchard as well, in case any of those Orcs get a wise idea to climb the rope in their own storage room and come-a-raiding.
I also offer to teach the militia folk how to make duplicates of my very own Am-Bush.

High ground and 'unseen' for what they are, our guys will get the drop for sure on the next group of rabblerousers and send a clear message that the Dale isn't the place for such dark stuff!

PS: Everyone get some Bemmi Bread, cheese, and cider. Reads like you all need a break to keep things light!

Theadric stands reading the postings down, up on reaching the short argument, he rolls his eyes and shakes his head with a disgusted frown, as it dragged on, he even began miming a talking action with his hand. Finally reaching the conclusion he'd sigh once more. "I... I smell... Stupid..." He muttered to himself with a small smirk, then reads Tobys post over twice, focussing on Am-Bush. This caught his curiosity. He'd leave the town hall and head home for the night.

// Doing this here OOC since Theadric [Broldi] signed up team hin for the Amian War games, Mr Hackums made a post about availability so I figured I'd transfer it here and see who all is interested in participation at Theadric's disgression

You can let me know here, or through PM's whether or not this will work for you, or if you've got conflicts and alternative timings. But please at least affirm or deny your availability, so I don't have to guess!

This notice/painting would be removed by the Clerks of Town Hall.

//And Hudson just ruled previous bans made will be upheld by the town guard under resignation letter. So Sugarpaw as well as Atlas, Nev, Pyro,Krin, and Velden are still not allowed in town square

Guess it my turn.

It was decided I am to remain mayor till the next election. General Nof and the Home Guard will continue to maintain order (as much as that qualifies) inside the gate. Those previously banned by me are allowed on Bendir Dale lands but will not be allowed in the town by the guards - even with an escort, until the conclave meets and alternatives are decided upon. It was also decided that the conclave would meet as soon as all member are available.

Allia asked for citizenship and was sponsored by General Nof and Harry Baldorf. She was accepted by everyone, not one person said nay. So she a citizen and permitted the same rights and privileges as everyone else.

It was decided that our secondary industry will be cotton and textiles.

The point that war would soon be upon Amia from the water was brought up. Though Bendir Dale has no army to offer and will not declare war on anything but ear bugs (they keep eating the crops!) any wishing to assist should talk to me and well figure out how you can help. None are asked to this however and any involvement is strictly voluntary.

Harry Baldorf was appointed Keeper of Lands. Any questions regarding the land, crops, or building should be talked over tea with him. I suggest strong tea and lemon scones.

Mayor Breazy Goldenleaf

// Please note that for banning purposes, if I banned you.. you are now free to loiter outside the gates but coming into town would be considered metagaming the guards.

The Town Meetings are changed slight to accomplish more and accommodate everyone's busy schedules.

//Because we are having some scheduling issues implimenting both the Town Hall meetings and the conclave meetings we are going to try to do every other week meetings. So one week we will have the regular Town Hall meetings then the following Sunday the Conclave will meet at the same time though at Breazy's house in all likelihood. The first conclave meeting will be Sunday 5/3 meeting, the next Town Hall meeting will be 5/10. I will post a schedule for the next few meetings so everyone can weigh in.
