As some of you know, Saya has been on a personal quest to become more fey and grow wings. This is an outgoing process that drives many of Saya's interactions / RP.

Whether I succeed and get wings on my feytouched or not is not the question here. I am writing this thread so that I get your opinion on which wing model you think is the best if it ever gets approved that my Saya grows wings. If you are to give your opinion, PLEASE read everything I write here before doing so, so that you understand my dilemma and can judge both options correctly.

Saya is of grig origin - for those of you who don't know what grigs look like, here is the picture I go by:

With that picture, you notice that
1) they are very insect-like, and
2) there are no one-on-one equivalent in Amian current wing models

There are however 2 models I could go to, and they both have their advantages/disadvantages

Minus: Not the right bug-like look (RP emotes can however fix this)

Given what the wings are to look like, given what race Saya is, given that there is currently no wing model that are a perfect fit, and that both of those bring about positives and negatives (equal wieght to me), which wing model do you think would be preferable? Why?

PS: I like both.. but I might have a preference for the butterfly ones just because of the confusion factor. People already mistake her legs as demon legs.

If we're only counting aesthetic opinions, I think Bat is better. As for the confusion factor, she's fey-- fey are confusing to non-fey most of the time. There are so many strange variety of fey and many of them can be quite different from one another because their plane doesn't make a whole lot of sense... to outsiders. If people think you're a demon, well, that sounds fitting enough for most PCs, who should probably not have memorized a fey bestiary or encyclopedia unless their character has been involved deeply with fey for some reason or another. More lore-oriented characters would more likely differentiate between demons and fey, but perhaps not what type.

Plus, she's fey-touched, not fey. You're going to look funny because you're a mutt

I've always thought of fey-touched as the Fey versions of intermingling with a celestial or a fiend, aka aasimars and tieflings. So yes you are a mutt, my knowledge on fey lore is particularly poor but if I were comparing this to something I know which is tieflings. It doesn't matter what kind of fiend was in your blood, you may take on 1 or 2 traits that may hint towards it, but all together it's just a fiendish trait in general. If someones great great grandmother got jiggy with a Gelugon it doesn't mean you have pale icy looking skin as a tieflling. My point being that your wings wouldn't have to directly reflect what fey is in your blood, just fey in general. For that reason I would lean towards the butterfly wings.

Kill it with fire. Either way. Neither is copacetic.

Honestly, the fey are so chaotic in appearance you should just roll a d2 and leave it to chance what you get. That's how I usually solve my dilemmas when I'm indecisive.

Humm..I would go towards the bat-wings. They don't look too funny.

What about these wings:

They've got the right markings and everything!

Hehe, but seriously... In my opinion, bat looks better for what you're aiming for.

Butterfly. After all it is another insect.

But you know, we design people have a motto: if you can't get close enough go in a completely opposite direction!

You might want to wait with the wings. As for how long, I am not sure yet.

I would advise against it.

As for waiting for the wings, it isn't exactly my decision ^^ All I can do it keep working on these rituals / efforts and submit them to the staff. I'm just pretty busy lately, so I don't log as much :/ It's not even sure that they will get approved (I wish and hope this might happen one day, but..)

This thread is only to test the water to see what people think about these 2 models. It is even for now...

Bat wing Karaage.

Grab a coin. Heads is Bat, tails is butterfly. Flip it, catch it, stick it to the back of your hand. And before lifting it, think about which side you wanted it to be. Choose that side. Or just wait, and see what Pony's got in store sometime in the future.

I think its dangerous to be getting this excited over wings when you've got a long way to go. Yes, I read your initial post. Yes, I read that the ultimate success of the request isn't what's in question here. But these kind of threads are what's going to make a potential denial of such a request even more painful. Its like buying a wedding dress when you don't yet have a boyfriend.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. I just don't think its healthy to entertain these notions like this.
