I making this topic because I have a character I enjoyed playing and after waiting 23 days to play him... well I moved on to other characters. The staffers I have spoken to in game have all been helpful and it is great. This is not a post about complaining about 'evil' staff. I think they are great.

So now I put in my request after 23 days its denied. Its time to get back into RPing my character. He can still achieve his goal he just has to do it on his own. That is cool I am up for the task! But now I have to send in screen shots. This is a character self improvement task. This task does not involve me talking to players or interacting with objects so the screen shot would be just saying words.

The RPing out of a box example.

o (I must escape this box! I will punch it and get out!)
---
/\

Vs: He was trapped in the box, sweat dripping down his brows. He made sure his breathing was shallow he didn't want to pass out before he poked the air hole. Slowly he punched the box attempting to get out.

Summary: If I am supposed to RP with myself to get something it makes more sense to write it out. A screen shot of me standing by myself not interacting with others in game is not going to increase my fun, the fun of anyone nearby (as it is only me) or the DMs fun. The purpose of every action in the game ultimately is to have fun. I believe every player (and DM) should and is working towards that goal remaining true to the theme and lore of the setting. If an action is not helping that goal is it needed?

I would be willing to maybe give you some ideas on how to accomplish something on this front. If you would like to PM me some details, you are welcome to.

Hey Ryu.

I agree, getting a request denied full stop, even if it is for clearly good reason, is really demotivating but there's no way for DMs to soften the blow without writing a block of text of apologies.

But! Let's focus on your main issue: RPing with yourself.

I agree with the DMs here. I had to RP by myself as my Chromatic Dragonkin learning how to fly because there are no active Chromatic fliers. I RPed it all ingame and screenshot it and- well to my surprise for something that's clearly tutor only, it got accepted.

There are some things I believe that well and truly need at least some ingame screenshots if done solo, one of these is definitely crafting unique DC items.

Ultimately, and this is me being a bit blunt, your example doesn't hold water as you can actually type what you typed ingame. In fact the only thing a screenshot does is verify you're actually playing in game as your character performing the process.

Hi Kamina,

And what you said is exactly why it holds water completely: Yes I can type exactly what I typed in game, screen shot it, upload it to a server, log on here then put in a tag so the screen shot is shown.

1) Does it enhance the RP for those involved? No it doesn't I am interacting with only myself.

2) Does it keep the game setting, theme, and lore intact? No the only witness is once again me.

So the extra of work of taking the screen shot, uploading it to the server, with less pleasure to the only participant in the screen has the purpose of...

only thing a screenshot does is verify you're actually playing in game as your character performing the process.

Well me being in a secluded place where nobody can see me doesn't really add it to the player base knowledge and if the DMs don't believe the (badly) written short story of simple actions my character has taken instead of my character standing still with the same short story written under it...

What was your point again about it being better? Was it trusting the player is actually doing what he said he is doing?

Edit: As for your clearly good reasons: It wasn't. It was about using the scientific method to discover something, compare, use a reference, which could have provided a starting point for RP. Take Ice Skating and Roller Blading for example. Using one example to give a spring board to help learn how to do the other. That was denied. Instead my character just gets to learn it without a reference at all (which in my mind makes it harder) but that was neither hear nor there, nor was the clearly good reason for the denial comment.
Yossarin: I thank you for your offer of help. I will send you a PM, however it is the screen shots itself which is the issue.

There's only a few requests which I know need solo RP. Do send me a PM as I have a hunch what type of request it was and I may be able to provide you with some tips.

But, I feel it only takes a bit more effect to RP ingame with screenshots than it is to just write it, so a DM asking for screenshots isn't asking as much as to, say, change your character mechanically or something.

Also, did you ever try asking if there's a DM free to oversee solo RP? If you do not ask, you do not receive.

Oh, I know. I elaborated a bit on that in the PM. DMs do things the way they do them for reasons, but if we can help each other out we might be able to make things easier and see less of the "RP with yourself" requirement, which while convenient is unsatisfying.

Just ask DMs online for a bit of assistance if you need help with a request. Or PM me and I'll see if I can work something out or con another DM with more know how on the subject to help you. Ideally you should throw yourself out there and find a teacher to shrug of the shackle of being a flightless bird.

Re: Silent2001

The thread wasn't about my request but the process of being told by a DM the process to get it approved is taking a screen shot of RPing with myself rather than a more in-depth story. But lets go over your suggestion.

My character does have friends and people he interacts with, sadly they don't have wings. The people he trusts the most don't have wings.

The request I sent into staff was to find someone with wings (the Prismatic Dragon) and get some help there. Sure he would never be able to fly in the way she can, but she loves knowledge and having a test subject so she might learn how half dragons (who do fly) by helping my character learn to fly in the same manner as a Half Dragon might prove interesting. It was denied (which is cool) and I was told I could do the self teach method, but it requires screen shots (hence this thread) of him RPing with himself versus me just saying what he did.

I know we all know what RP is but I am going to just state what it is anyway. It is Role Play. I take on the role of my character and do what he would do in the game world.

'Just find random guy to teach you'.

Now I am thinking of the role of my character. Is he going to just go up to random guy who he has no relationship with and ask him to teach him how to fly? Not really. Nor is he going to go on a quest to find someone to teach him how to fly.

He is not a lone dog lets do everything myself guy. He is a networker, but some things people are capable of doing on their own. He is has a nice intelligence score, a nice lore score, designed some rituals to change himself. He can work on the math to glide, fly, fail a bunch, adjust and attempt to do so again. He likewise can understand is own body. He knows how they work. He has actually spent time flying (until I realized pixie form did not ditch the weight I carried before casting polymorph and so he was always encumbered). The epic part of his tale is not learning how to use a natural ability he now possess.

It is about if I am going to write a small (badly written) scene with myself. I should be able to just send it in to staff. If it seems to unreal as if I really didn't play with myself like I was sailing over Cordor with my new wing testing powers and setting people ablaze they can certainly reject it.

Insert the monkeys and the hose experiment here (I am to lazy to type it up twice in one day)
http://highdeas.com/science/Five_Monkey_Experiment

Why take 5 steps (RP, print screen, upload it, make a post, edit in the image) to prove you RPed with yourself when it only takes 2 (write the story and make a post) to accomplish the same thing.

So far the answer I have seen has been: I had to do it that way so you should to (monkey and the hose). or You should do X instead (which doesn't address the issue).

Note: However if any DMs want to whip out Bahamut and take all the Dragon Disciples of his out in an Epic tale to thwart a scheme by Tiamet which somewhere along the way my character is granted the divine knowledge of how to fly from Bahamut in order to fly and warn villagers of the evil plaguing the land. I am totally down for that. (Silent2001 you should run this plot it is so bad its good or just plain bad.)

Roleplaying by yourself is rather popular thing though. But most people would just call it "writing" or "fiction". If you ever went to a bookstore you would find many examples there of people roleplaying by themselves. Perhaps it would inspire you in your own attempts?

I'm sorry for sounding like an asshole but I couldn't resist. :)

Monuments aren't that bad either. Just sayin'!

I don't know what is your specific case, but I want to believe that you can RP whatever you want in public, one way or another. If it is something strictly done in private, you can write about it in the Character Descriptions forum. If it can be done IG, just get some people of witnesses and give them a task in something that just may involve them, without directly being the main topic. If this latter isn't an option, then just nab a DM to work with you!

Yesterday I had to ICly cut some gems. I could've either sat alone emoting the whole process, ooooor grab some friends and RP as I would normally with them whilst at the same time keeping constant emotes of the gem cutting, which was as well affected by the reactions of my character depending the flow of the conversation.

I agree, but you would have to take the book and screen shot it. Thankfully there is a visual effect of holding a book.

Which if it is allowed that I screen shot my character holding the book 'Flying for Dummies: Dragon Disciple Edition' and it counts I would likely consider that worth while. I am still hoping for the plot now however a I believe that would be the most inclusive.

Demanding a person be on the server and writing out the RP there when it is PURELY RP that involves only themselves anyway instead of just writing out the roleplay for the request itself is rather.

Now with that said there are a few reasons why one could ask for it to be done on the server, for example a DM wanting the chance to oversee (and possibly effect) your solo RP, which is a legitimate reason although if so the DM should arrange time with you to do that, not just ask for screenshots. (also they could probably just effect the RP through messaging you on the forum).
A DM wanting you to do it to show that you are actively having your character do it over _____ amount of time and committing real time to it (although that could still be accomplished just as well if not better by making a thread in PC stories).
Or a DM could want you to be doing it in game because they want other characters to be (or have a chance of being) involved in it (although this really is an issue with not wanting it to be solo RP at all). The last option is a DM arbitrarily thinking that doing it on the server is somehow better because... there are visuals? (Really this reason is a rather unacceptable one).

The point being if there is a part of a character doing the RP in game that is important to you as a DM you should express that, simply saying though that it should be done in game over on the forum is rather unhelpful and frankly is kind of annoying as an "answer" since it really isn't much of one.

RE: Ryu, you went up to an NPC out of the blue. Does your character know that NPC? Does your character -trust that NPC? Why pick an NPC when there's a multiplicity of PC's out there that could teach you? If you don't trust them clearly your PC should make the effort to gain their trust to learn how to fly. :P Sorry, the DM team is about 15 people tops vs. around 200+ players, we can't cater to every individual request. It'd be impossible between maintenance requests and our own plot lines that include many players.

Teaching yourself doesn't have to be a solo activity, hell, my character would be quite amused to watch some chap falling out the sky consistently.

Sorry this annoys but it's how we operate and it'll be how we operate at least in the foreseeable future. If you want to learn how to fly you need to actually interact with the environment around you.

As Silent says, there are many ways he could include those he does trust in his learning. He might need someone to fix him up after crashing into the ground. Someone to help point out things he might be heading towards. People to give him encouragement etc! Or anything in between.

Lots of ways to involve others in his own 'self learning', than simply doing it by himself.

Silent2001

I am one person and as you mentioned there are 200+ PCs. My duty as a non DM isn't about amusing every random PC with me falling. If the goal of interactive RP isn't about me accomplishing my goal its about I am supposed to create other activities for someone else and random bar chat then well... that is just odd. I though the goal of role playing was playing a roll and having fun.

Now according to Rigela and with Kamria's post if I want to learn how to fly I don't have to interact with the environment around me. I have to take a screen shot in game.

Image

Maybe that doesn't satisfy the requirements completely and you want more in depth screen shots outside of the lobby (perhaps an empty field) proving that I am posing to myself alone. But that is not interacting with the environment around me. Its a picture. There is no game code which is going to simulate be flying in the sky. I suppose I will have to pretend... which goes back the subject: Why don't I just write about he experience down. As mentioned by another poster in this very thread typically RPing with yourself is called a short story. Its more enjoyable, will get more depth and instead of perhaps a screen shot of me standing and then another of me in the laying down position it can be one fluid motion.

Sidenote: Instead of me amusing your character silent2001 I am still open for you jumping DM side and running a scene where you amuse my character rather than me amusing yours in learning how to fly.

I figured this one deserved a 2 part response as the screen shot of my awesome RP in the lobby took up so much space.

More indepth:

Q: Quick question mate: are you asking the team for a DM to possess the prismatic dragon to teach your toon how to fly?

A: No I understand the DM team is busy it would be great if they could do so, but I am not asking them to do such.

So your question was answered on the 16 or 17th of January Silent2001 when it was asked of me in a follow up PM to my flight widget request.

Also: No I didn't go to a NPC out of the blue. The NPC as in the posted request on the DM forum asked me to do a (getting a book) and the moment the book was returned I asked.

Image

The screen shot in game proves I really did ask the dragon. Of course even though you posted it as if I was asking a NPC out of the blue the request sent to three DMs to post on DM forum section.

I think I don't understand what is the problem here.

Learning to fly is a hilly process. Your character most likely (will) eat dirt, branches, fall in the water, get up and try again. As anything that is being self-taught, it will take more time and effort, something to voucher that your character actually has been training for a goal. If you don't want to humiliate yourself or your character (since the pride of the gold dragon is no small thing) the "novel" sort of style to write is an option.

Honestly, sometimes we can't chose what sort of RP do we want to experience to get what we want. Not everything is positive. Not everything comes like a ring to the finger. For me the idea of "RP With Yourself: Please Screenshot it!" doesn't make any sense, but that is why I look for alternatives for that. In the case of the prismatic dragon, my character wouldn't be able to outright request the dragon to teach him, but if I could nudge the same DM each often to get a line of RP going...
Sure, it would take time, but it would ensure my fun at very least, which is the point of RP and not just progress progress progress until you have everything.

Common sense rules apply.

I'm not sure how taking screenshots doesn't involve interacting with your environment. To have screenshots to take, you need to display interaction with those around you.

As Ice said, learning to fly is going to be a shaky process - even more so if you do it alone. Flight is a RP reward for having put the time in to struggle through learning it, having the character learn (and grow!) and it is one done in a very different manner to an actual dragon. We generally ask you involve PC's over NPC's for these things as the time can be quite extensive and it can stimulate more RP among the player base to have a number of them involved together.

You can, as well, ask for a DM to watch over the joint efforts too. But one may not be able to watch over every attempt - so screenshots are likely going to be needed anyway, no matter what.

Am I understanding this thread correctly? The discussion here is about whether someone should be allowed to write his solitary RP in prose and then post it to the forums, rather than having to write his solitary RP in the game's chat window and then post it to the forums?

If that's actually the case... that's really an incredibly nitpicky, mindlessly rigid policy. Seriously, ease back on the bureaucracy throttle, folks. :) It sounds like the only answer he's getting here is "you must do it this way because this is the way you must do it," and that's a really awful answer.

Or am I missing something here?

Are you implying that a player some can't show their character's same struggle purely through a written recounting of it on the forums? Even if you want to show a real time ongoing "struggle" of learning it a threat in PC stories over a few weeks could still prove that couldn't it?

Also here are you claiming that RP with others is a requirement for it?

Let me put this plainly: having your PC learn how to fly has, for years, been something that they are either taught how to do (which you don't want, fair enough) or they learn on their own. What you did was run up to the one dragon NPC in the game, write one line of text and expected the DM team to give you the flight widget. Compared to the work others have put into it, that's downright insulting. So you were told to do a bit more roleplay in game and, if no DM is around, to take screenshots of that RP and send them to the DM team. Which is what everyone else does and has done for years.

Your reply to that is "why am I expected to roleplay with myself and screenshot it". First off, like the others have said: your character learning to fly by himself does not mean you have to find the most remote area on the server (just to make sure nobody else can be involved) and spend two hours typing up emotes, then screenshoting them. The idea is to involve other players. You don't want a flight teacher? Fine. Get a mage to cast Gust of Wind to help your character on. Get a group of his friends to be on standby in case he jumps off a cliff and breaks something. There are dozens of ways you can do that without "RPing by yourself".

That said, I'm still not sure I understand why you believe you should get preferential treatment. Basically in all your posts you argue that you shouldn't have to do what dozens of others players have done and continue to do or demand that a DM devote their time exclusively to your character, because you don't want anyone else involved. To one player. Instead of involving at least several. So, again, why exactly should you get preferential treatment?

Ok I'm having in issue here with it being made to seem that "Ohhh there needs to be so much work and you should RP with others for it! We've always mode people do that." I mean it would be ok if that was true, and saying that you would have liked more RP over a longer time to show that practice or something like that is and would be fine, but if it is SOLO RP then it shouldn't matter whether it is done through screenshots or just forum RP, there are really the same thing if you are by yourself in game for it anyway. Further it is being made to seem like the DM team requires tons of screenshots or REALLY wants interaction with other character for approval.

To this I would point out to slk and Rigela that both of you had little issue approving Kamina's flight widget request a few months back which while Kamina did seemingly seek out a trainer never actually had one so really the request was approved on 3... maybe 4 screenshots of solo flight training RP and a small IC write-up.

It is fine to require more work for a request, one request can even require more than another request that is for the same thing, but you shouldn't act like it is being done to adhere to some very specific standard of approval that simply doesn't exist.

And I'm fine with that being done again, but basing it entirely on a story with no IC work isn't likely to get it approved. I understand it can be hard to find trainers, for whatever reason it may be. But just showing a little IC work alongside the story is all I am asking for really (and sorry if I didn't make that apparent, before)

Write up and more RP seem perfectly fine to me to ask for, and I don't know what this person actually submitted of course but my issue is just... Why the screenshots, I mean what do you gain over the player just writing that RP on the forums if there is no one else even involved in the screenshots anyway?

Do you mean IC or IG roleplay Rigela? Just so I know what you mean by the "story" vs "IC", I mean where they trying to get it approved on like... backstory?

The request is there's, and not one I'm going to talk about publicly when it was submitted privately. Why we ask this stuff to be done in game, is so there is the chance that others will be involved rather than just making it entirely exclusive. If we simply allowed things to be done with no actual work done in game then it would make for very bland obtaining of said RP boons. They are rewards for showing exemplary roleplay, not expected trinkets to obtain.

You could incoporate screenshots into the story. Show him taking off, crying out in pain as they land. Being tossed about in the wind. /Something/ to show that this was an effort you actually took aside writing a story up out of the game.

There is only the chance if you want there to be a chance, its easy enough to just write out the solo RP and then just do it when almost no one is on, And DCs are rewards for exemplary RP, things like shadow jump, thousand faces and flight on the other hand seemed traditionally given not as a reward, but rather were an obtainable extra for certain races/classes on the condition that they could show the they and their character were able to handle them responsibly and that they knew and RPed lore accurate and quality enough RP to be allowed to use them.

I understand the "I want screenshots" frame of mind, but when it comes down to it, how much more valid is the RP simply for having a graphic to go with it, if I write some RP ICly on the forums then just type it out ICly IG by myself then it is still the EXACT same RP just one now has pictures... And not usually very relevant pictures given the limited scope the engine can represent.

Also I don't personally care about the specific request Rigela, just trying to get a grasp on your meanings when you say certain things like "story" and "IC".

And to show they have that level of RP, they need to demonstrate it for us, IG. A story written outside of the game can be fanciful, or whatever (and heck, may be better than effort taking IG as one can modify and tweak such stories to get rid of inconsistencies, etc,)

But, essentially what I mean by 'story' is something that took place 'outside' of the game itself when we are logged in. I'm not saying it may be less valid in of itself, but simply that things that occur 'IC' (or actually in the game, rather) take precedent over it. Or such is how I feel, at least.

I'm curious why logging in on the game server to roleplay is seen as such a bad thing by some. I thought it was the purpose of playing the game. There are still text-based RPGs out there, if a visual representation of the game world is not one's cup of tea.

Jokes aside, the widgets are not given out without RP being done, usually in game. They are a privilege, not a right and always have been. Normally, it's required that a character learn this type of thing from someone who already has. But, seeing as it may not always be possible to do so, the DM team also accepts submissions of "learning it on your own". While the forums can be used for RP, it is always better to have it done in game. Because that way there is a chance of involving other people.

I'll use a far-fetched example: faction X wants to meet to discuss their evil plot to steal faction Y's hard-earned candy. Faction X meets in game, but Bob Dasneak from faction Y happens to be on and sneaks in, overhears the meeting and tips off his buddies. When faction X tries to sneak into faction Y's base, faction Y is waiting for them. More people have been involved. Conversely, if all the players of faction X would rather just "RP it on the forums" they'd either a) do it in PMs, nobody can see, nobody else is involved or b) do it on the public forums, faction Y will be waiting for them, then cries of metagaming can be heard ("Like anyone could sneak in on our faction meeting"). It's an absurd example, I know, but just bear in mind that being in game to roleplay creates a lot more opportunities for player involvement than just doing a post on the forums does in this type of situation.

You can tweak them already, I mean most people if they have a request don't just RP as it happens, they think through what they want to happen in the RP what makes sense and what doesn't and THEN they begin the RP on it. You are almost always going to get more polished RP for requests, just like you're going to get more people trying to show off their best RP in DM events, its just how it works.

Also its not like you can just make shit up or do whatever you want either in game or on the forums and while IG stuff certainly is the goal as we play on and NWN server, saying that you won't accept RP on the forum and need it done in game for a request is like me saying that I need all DM stuff to be done IG and not just written on the forums.

Anyway its not like other players can't get involved if it is being RPed on the server, there are a LOT of examples of inter-player and even dm-player RP on the forums.

Edit: Amusingly ChrisP while I also personally don't care for asking a dragon to tech you to fly (Since they basically fly in no small part simply from being magical as hell, and just because it seems like a cliche sort of way to learn it.) Prismatic dragons are (based on their description) one of the most charming and welcoming of dragons and like getting visitors and enjoy life and the personalities of what most other dragons would consider "lesser" creatures... They are weird dragons in that way.

I don't think anyone is saying that is it bad Slk, just that making a player log in and then type out their RP then take screen shots and submit them even if their character will be doing it all completely by themselves is asking for a lot of extra work that really doesn't add anything since they aren't going to be interacting with anyone.

My first comment is to the Staff. I understand that RP for the flight wiget alone has always been done ingame, documented with screen shots. However, for somebody that can't find a tutor, I agree with Great Eqaulizer. Doesn't a series of stories posted in the forum over a period of weeks demonstrate the same commitment and pursuit? Ian't this something worth considering?

My second comment is to Ryu. I understand asking a dragon to teqch you how to fly, but that was your request? You are talking to a powerful, majestic, prideful creature. A being from a race the sees themselves as superior to most other creatures. Your "request" is "Now teach me how to fly!" doesn't strike me a good way to get results.

I don't know if there was more elaboration in the PM, but it seems to me, that if you made a more flowery, flattering speech, piled on the flattery and self-effacement, your RP might have seemed more engaging, more thought ought. You might have piqued a little more interest.

Just my 2 cents worth.

We've approved just roleplay stories in the past, but my preference is a mixture of the two. No one has to sit in a dark corner on the server and type, in fact, if you're learning to fly that would be rather stupid - what if you break a bone and become stranded? That's neither here nor there. Every flight request is different and it's up to the DM team to decide whether or not the roleplay offered (either in the form of a story, or interactive roleplay) is worth the reward.

I think the point that most people are overlooking is that if you do the RP in-game, you can start out alone and before you've finished there's a group of people who stumbled across you and suddenly you have an audience pointing and laughing.

No player on this server should be unwilling to RP with other people. If you want to do something by yourself, that's fine. But don't put up a great big OOC wall that keeps every other player from interacting. That's the difference I feel the DMs involved are talking about. Kamina did his/her RP in-game, which opened up the possibility of people stumbling across that yucky Green smashing into a tree - which would have been hilarious, of course! I would have loved to have been in the right place at the right time.

But refusing to do it in-game at all, when you could instead spend hours doing it and thus end up with a very great chance that other people might stumble across you and build RP around it, honestly just seems like you're slapping your fellow players in the face and telling them to GTFO and leave you alone.

I know if I'm doing stuff by myself I don't screenshot it 90% of the time, only if I know it might come into question if it was done or not, and for DC requests in some cases.

If I post I was patrolling Caraigh I'm not going to screenshot it, I don't feel any of the players or DMs would contest the claims that I did it because I do it all the time and everyone knows it. When I was doing work in the Mills workshop of gond making weapons I did not take screenshots but I posted it on the forums because again who would say I did not to the point where I would have to have prove I did such in game?

But its hard to know at what point do you really need a screenshot of your actions in game because how do you know when a DM is really going to bring it into question of you did it in game or if you just posted it on the forums....

Lets face it I bet most of the people who make posts on the forums on IC postings or placed said postings never went to half the locations they said let alone all of them.

With greatest respects I wanted to add thoughts in because I really want to elaborate on the basic points of why this topic came up! :)

Lets put it in simple steps and hopefully I would like to hope you might agree to it Ryu :) This is all IMHO btw so please I don't want to tread on anyones toes for this :)

1. What happened and has caused this post?

You as a character want to fly! Due to the processes involved there isn't a PC tutor involved so you approached an NPC for help. You still havn't learnt to fly due to the level of detail and RP needed to be rewarded. (RP IG and take a good few screenies)

2. Why you have written this post?

You feel RP'ing this without a PC wasn't right, or doing this on your own didn't feel right to you as a player, Or you specifically want a DM to oversee your RP.

3. What do you do to resolve this in feedback to your post?

Enjoy your characters development, write a story of your character whacking into a tree or write the finer details of attempting to fly! IMHO the thought of learning to fly sounds so fun!
Combining the short story and roleplaying this IG with an audience or not is what the server is looking for to experience exceptional RP demonstrated by you! Taking screenies shows your characters achievement and progression and supports your request, Immerse yourself!

Doing this IG not only would you enjoy yourself and other characters would, but you may meet other characters which your guy might never have which would open RP doors in the future for you!

4. What is going to be the outcome of this post?

The DM's have specified what qualifies as exceptional roleplay and have given you the tools to allow you to shine and show them the best Roleplay to how your character is learning to fly and based on that quality of RP you give in accordance of what they are looking for, the character learns to fly or he doesn't at the time!

Just to clarify on slk's ,Silents and rigellas points:

1. Write a short story on the forums about the adventures of trying to fly!
2. Roleplay this IG with people or on your own, your call and take screenies to show the hard time and effort you put in behind trying to fly.

Another outcome of this post is that potentially you may annoy other players who have put the same work in previously as quotes by :

I would like to hope the outcome of this post is:

1. You know exactly what to do to build your characters journey to fly and to shine your roleplay through what the server was looking for as described above! :)

2. The constructive feedback given helps you with your characters development and allows you to decide whether you want to RP this alone or with others.

3. With other players posts such as Kamina and other posts make's you realise the richness of RP needed to attain the reward which is under discretion and is awarded, Not a right.

Sorry to make it an awful long post and I don't mean to offend anyone with anything that was said above, but I wanted to point this across and help close this topic to a resolve! & I hope your guy gets to fly soon Ryu!

More importantly... Enjoy in the development!! :)

>.> I would point out that I am not annoyed. I was just expressing how it comes across when there's a complaint about doing something in-game. I may have been a little blunt with my wording, but I assure you I am not bothered! :P

IMO the whole screenshot thing is just clever ways of helping you become a better storyteller. Writing in a blank white forum box is uninspiring. Logging into the game seeing the trees, rocks, and letting them help you tell the story is what it I assume the ultimate goal is. Plus there is the random chance that someone DOES randomly stumble upon your solo RP. Now they too will be enthralled when they learn that they witnessed the growth of a special story and it's DC request approval. It helps build character for everyone, and it also builds a bond and level of immersion between you the player and your character and how you describe his interpretations of what happens around him. Just my two cents.
