Hm, that's disappointing but not unexpected from NWN, haha. It's still nice for a hin, was thinking ESF in Illusion and Conjuration. Pretty much perfect for a halfling, I think. And, really, it's not like you need ESF on your spells as a mage. Typically you have other people/summons doing the murdering for you XD.

Best spell for pure damage, in the entire game, counting any or all metamagic feats? Just curious. IMO, probably maximized IGMS, or GR vs undead/construct.

Wail of the Banshee against a full health 1200 HP barbarian that failed his save!

Cheek aside, no idea.

Level 2:Craft Survival Gear: Master Scout can craft various tools and items for a gold cost. The items assist in ambushing enemies and in survivability. Through levels, more items become available for crafting.

What does that mean exactly? Can someone give me examples of these tools and items that they've found really useful? How expensive are they? How are they crafted? Do you gather resources? The class description is just too vague to be helpful.

Thanks.

It means that you can craft certain little things that other classes don't have access to for a small cost. i.e, grenades, one that blows away cloud effects, one that does a confuse burst, and the other is a caltrops, I think. As well as essences that do level 17 FW, and you can do Acid, Negative Energy, and Sonic. As well as components to make traps better and more powerfull bulls, endurance, and cats grace potions. And the only thing they cost is abit of gold.

GR vs vulnerable foe, yep, or Harm/Heal vs something with stupid high hp. Or a cha-based great smiting pally/divine champ smiting evil... that's MAGIC!

Color Spray is legitimately nice for its level, I think. Its DC will always be low, but you can also prepare quite a few and it should work on low-will mobs. Mass Blindness/Deafness is very good, one of the best crowd-control spells (though Evocation gets Sunburst and Thunderclap). Phantasmal Killer and Weird are weaker versions of FoD and Wail of the Banshee, in that they offer a double save and can be mindblanked (though immunity to death doesn't apply). They can still be handy, though. Other than that, there's nothing offensive/DC-reliant. The stupid Shadow Conjuration line uses the base schools.

I love illusion as a concept. I've tried to brainstorm custom spells to make it more alluring, but came up with very little usable in NWN.

I played a sorcerer with Illusion/Destruction focuses. Color Spray, Silence, Phantasmal Killer, and Weird were pretty much the only spells I had from Illusion, but it's okay. Destruction spells are so good for arcane casters they render the rest of the schools complementary, but it's the few powerful ones that make them worthwhile in the end. And Color Spray is such a purty spurt; you can daze approximately half the spawn in the Frozen Wastes with a level 1 spell, and you easily have over 10 level 1 and 2 spells that would otherwise go to waste. It's admittedly a little thing, but by and large it's very enjoyable.

I'd most definitely drop Dodge and Great Fortitude in favour of KD and IKD. Despite your tininess, you reach around places with a hot knife and your enemies are butter. The rest is a matter of taste, since I at least can't spot any obvious lacks.

Coolness, didn't even think of those haha. I suppose I could drop some Rogue levels for 3 more Fighter to nab those two in addition to more Fort from the Fighter levels.

*several hours later*

Nah, I'll skimp the situational Dodge ab and +2 Fort :> Thanks!

edit: What's the skinny on Disable Trap and Search? Do you need to maximize them? Or can I skim off some points? Because I would really love to get some Bluff/Persuade on him :>

Oh what, you're a hin Rogue/Ranger and you have no Set trap? You make do with only 1 rank in Disable but Search and Set should be high for proper hide-and-seek action.

Whyfor is that?

Also, I'm guessing you can't get Epic traps with 1 Disable rank? Or can you actually boost it enough?

Setting traps is heaps of fun, and you need search to do it right. If you haven't indulged in setting traps yet, take this chance as a golden opportunity for fun!

On the hin rogue, I don't see weapon finesse. Seems like you need it for the Dex build, right?

I've been working on a similar concept (hin kukri master) but was going ftr10/wm7/rog13 for more damage instead of the traps.

Oh dear god yes! Take Finesse. I'd personally ditch the kukri - the blade looks silly anyway.

And you can get epic traps with Disable 1. You get take 20 and gear up for it. And Rogue's Cunning.

I'm thinking of a morale booster (the build term being buff asset) Bard halfling, currently I know I want 5 KC in the build and at least 20 Bard, what should the last 5 levels be? Is it worth dipping 5 levels in to something else or should I just put the rest in Bard?

The only welcome addition I can think of is Fighter4, but 25 is an important benchmark for buffstick bard and you already get BAB16 from the KC. That said, I'd definitely go 25/5 instead.

Indulge my lack of never playing a Bard outside of a DD pre-req, why's 25 an important benchmark for a bufferbard?

The song gets +1 AC which is effectively +1 AB too from Curse song. Now this may not seem a whole lot, but remember that you exist for your party and summons. Also, the skill subtraction/addition -4/+4 makes a huge difference already. All that compared to the +6 dmg and the slightly reduntant bonus feat from Fighter4 makes Bard25 way more intriguing in my eyes.

Another vote for the 25/5 bard/kc!

If it were me, I'd take 16/4 pre-epic so you can nab Lasting Winspiration at 24 instead of 27. It won't add to your saves or bab to take 5 KC pre-epic instead of 4.

Has blinding speed been changed on Amia? A quick search of the forums gives conflicting results and there's nothing on the side bar so I'm thinking it hasn't been changed.

Vehement Charge is amazing and its also shield ally and +3 medicant you are missing out on. As a support bard with KC shield ally is your friend, your bestest friend. Use it, your ab is meh anyways. And you can give your 2 hander wielding barbarian +1 mage armor, +4 haste, +6 AC from song, +2 AC from ab/curse, immunity to all those pesky mind raping stuff (vehement charge), and 4 AC from shield ally.

So about 17 more AC than he is used to having... And -4 ab from 1/2 damage person is fine when compared to your tank never being touched.

That being said take 5th KC level after lasting winspiration.

So my little paladin I posted a while back has been lonely and getting her butt kicked. In the few weeks I have had her on, she hasn't met anyone of a like mind to party with and most of her RP has been in conflict with others. As I think about her AC not getting better anytime soon and my lack of server knowledge, I am certain she has very hard times ahead. So, I am going to try and roll a neutral character that can survival a little more by fitting in with different parties and by running away. This server is tough to level on and RP on. But that makes it worthwhile.

She lost 1 AB to get HIPS as early as possible. I am not sure if it is worth it since she doesn't actually need HIPS anyways to dish out damage (but I don't know if the +1 ab is worth it here either). I put it on mostly because I keep running into things that kill me and need to get away. Also, I am hoping to catch more creatures flat-footed to dish out a knockdown and lots of heavy hits with her. She doesn't have ESF: Move Silently. However, she also doesn't have the armor penalties that most strength based stealthy characters would. I think her fort save and low AC will be her weakness against Dev Critters, but I should be able to hide and sneak unless they also are spotters. I think her class should be fun to RP and she should fit into a variety of parties. Please let me know if I can improve her somehow or if there is a similar build that can do what she does better.

I've been thinking about this char for quite a while, trying to figure out how to represent it. I think Master Scout would work great. But I've never played a trap-setter before, and there's a lot about the class I still don't understand, so I do appreciate the great info and links about the crafting abilities.

This is what I've come up with so far:

Rogue 16 Monk 9 Master Scout 5

Human

Str 14
Dex 16 ->26
Con 14
Wis 14
Int 10
Cha 8

Level 1-20: Rogue 12 Monk 8
1 Rogue 1 Ambidex, Blind Fight
3 Monk 1 Wpn Foc: kama
6 Rogue 3 Wpn Finnese
9 Monk 6 TWF
12 Rogue 6 ITWF
15 Rogue 9 SF: Spot
16 Rogue 10 Def Roll
18 Monk 12 SF: Listen
21 MS 1 Great Dex I/II
24 MS 4 EWF
25 MS 5 Great Dex III
27 Rogue 13 ???, Epic Dodge
30 Rogue 16 ???, ???

3 Epic featsdd: Armor Skin, Impv'd Crit, Epic Fort, Crippling Strike, ESF: Hide

37/39 AB
55 AC

Fort: 16
Ref: 27
Will: 19

How does this sound so far?

Fine. You can't go far wrong with Epic Dodge and good Sneaks. You might want to drop three Monk to get Rogue19 and more Sneaks, but the AC,speed and immunities from monk 9 are yummy, so it's a tough call.

I'd go for the latter, myself but if you went for the first, got rid of Epic Energy Resistance and did your epic levels:

21:(PM_11): Epic Skill Focus - Heal
22:(PM_12):
23:(PM_13): Automatic Still Spell 1
24:(Wizard_10): Automatic Still Spell 2,3
25:(PM_14):
26:(PM_15):
27:(PM_16): Epic Mummy Dust, Epic Mage Armor
28:(PM_17):
29:(PM_18):
30:(PM_19): Armor Skin, Epic Spell focus - Necromancy

Then I'd pick that one over the second.

Automatic still spell has prerequisite: ability to cast 9th level spells
And I can cast 9th level spell on 24. lvl. I can take only Epic energy resistance feat on this level.

Guess you can't fit EMD then! I'd suggest the second build because HiPS healing.

Wait, you're building to be a healer and you're using PM levels?

For never die cheese. Let the boss smack you around while you just heal kit yourself up and your summon kills the boss.

Cool build, bro.

You've got it going on, gurl. I think you've covered everything vital in there. Some minor detailing, though; Tumble beyond rank 30 goes to the dogs as the bonus AC is gained from every fifth rank, not the one you roll with (thank Jebus). Also, I might consider dropping INT to 12 for initial STR 16 and dropping ESF Hide or Epic POWERS for Great STR. That way you stop at even STR, netting +2 dmg out of two-handed goodness. It's a bargain.

If healing is your sole goal, and you want to do it in hips comfort, consider a wisdom+dex based monk/sd instead. You'll have high ac, high hide, high-speed hipswalk, outrageous heal score. Not having to hear the "physician, heal thyself" joke for the 100th time today as a PM healer? Priceless.

If you min-max like a boss you can get epic dodge and enough wisdom to take improved stunning fists so when you do punch stuff you may be able to stun them!

Yes, PM is best healer.
True Salandra healer who sacrificed everything for healing, including his body and soul.

I take 1 epic energy resistance. Which is the best? Electricity?

This is.... a palemaster Salandra worshiper? Perhaps the Salandra entry in our wiki will be helpful: http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/Salandra

As for which Energy Resistance is best, Acid for PVP, Fire for PVE (or Cold if you're wearing a fire giant king belt).

Except ... Saladrans totally don't approve of undead ...

So... I guess if he's just crazy that works, cause he's not a cleric, but yeah, really. Not to mention you're taking ESF: Necromancy. :?

And tell that to my Sharessin cleric who pumps out 90+ heals with healing kits ;p

Good points!

If you're set on PM healer, perhaps consider Ilmater over Salandra, and you get to roleplay out all the delightful self-harming involved. I bet most of those Ilmater followers have a bone limb from cutting themselves so much!
