The scholar

There's something very off about this character.
He understands the ways of the Underdark, has it easy to get a point across and makes thing happen. The scholar is a train when he starts to move, he follows the tracks laid out ... Until the tracks end. Then the churning train with all it's cargo continues out into oblivion: He is thus very direct and gets things done until there is nothing more to do, at that point he goes into seclusion and isn't seen around to much.
He is alert and appreciative: and he sure can 'adapt' to the situation at hand. Though I fear that he may suffer from a emotional superiority: He believes himself to be better then others, which can or can not tick other character's off.

Being the class he is i also suspect he may or may not suffer from a sense of split-personality coupled with the paranoia all drow experience.

When I roleplay with the scholar I'm constantly on the edge: Because i know there's something inside that character, lurking with malice, just waiting.
And i fear the day it's unleashed.

Ulviir has a natural tendency towards aggression and activism, to the point where he will pursue either without seriously considering the results. Consequently he held a poor reputation with his former matron who was largely disinterested in his ideas and opposed to acts of aggression that would threaten retaliation. His activism stands out in Nec'perya but lacking in finesse and forethought, it's very much a high-powered engine with dodgy wheels and no steering. Fortunately his associates seem to be able to work with this and provide guidance for his energy.

Hashim Hoios appears to have difficulty handling his own competence and success. He is wealthy, and trusts that he can effectively manipulate anyone with large piles of money - justifiably so, as he's often been successful in doing this in the past... but he trusts it too well, and I don't think he knows how to deal with anyone who expects his modus operandi and cares about things other than money or what power he can offer. He is a skilled warrior, but it has led him to resort to those skills in inappropriate situations when he panics, which often leads to greater problems.

Duty over anything. Velden is a person who is more likely to use anyone for his cause, if ther eis something for him to gain, he will help you. However, if you befriend Velden and build trust, he will be blindly trustful, even to a fault. As well he seems dead set on one of his plots, something that will be constantly in the background no matter what. As well he sometimes lacks in mindset to speak about things, for example fashion or arcane matters might turn his interest down. Oh oh! And not to forget his jealous anti-social behavior towards other men if he is fond of someone. He is ready to do anything to keep other males at bay.. Dueling them, giving false information.. etc..

I've not had the chance to mess with Ael as much as I'd like to - our characters just don't mix. She's a traditionalist elf for what I could see, and traditionalism is both a perk and a flaw. She strikes me as a character far too stable for what the wild magic is supposed to be, or what I can grasp over it, but that's possibly my ignorance and unability to see beyond the facade that is the diplomat that Ael pretends to be or is. There's something in her behaviour that indicates that she's always striving for power, and more power for reasons that neither I can see.

And about the fey... well. It's a well RPed fey, that's the biggest flaw I could come with.

Has an almost fanatical addiction to jokes.

Lets his past ruin his future.

Gets in with the wrong crowd.

To a flawed point, searches for the best in people.

Egotism.

Copper is a dumb color. >.>

Plays an obviously Sharran kobold, or that's as far as I know, and Sharrans aren't supposed to be obvious. He is a kobold, but that's only a flaw in Eara's eyes. The character seems naive in the sense that he thinks people with acknowledge him even though for what he is, on the other hand it's Amia. Also it does not seem like everything he does is thought through much, like when he spied on Eara and Tazlin with his weapons out, and how he goes around being openly not good.

Prone to panicked, viscious bouts of lolthite aggression.

Hmm.. where to begin. Zamura is good at getting in touch with Imyrr's more merciful side as he sees an imperfect man, and he too is imperfect. However he also has a way with his rather underhanded means and sudden revelations of challenging the sensibilities of said warrior. All in all though there is something in the kobold that speaks to him, despite the clearly chaotic path and impulsive actions he seems to make.

Gravitas is a player I enjoy roleplaying with, though Imyrr and Eara have had their clashes that have been more or less frustrating. When it comes to Imyrr flaws as I see them, the character does not want to cope with the fact that the word is not fair most of all and spends a lot of time trying to make things fair rather doing the best with his situation. Another side of him which is more Eara's view is that he acts as if he is experienced, though in Eara's eyes he's more perceived as a young inexperienced adult. At times I also think Imyrr is too intent on telling what he believes he is right in that he forgets to listen to what others are right in, and it makes him appear stubborn among other things

Haven't roleplayed with them all that much, but have seen some, heard some, and read the PC story. Based on all this, Earalenia's greatest flaw is that she believes that fighting what she believes is evil is enough to be good. I think on some level she is aware that this is a somewhat twisted position to take, but she's too driven and set on her course. I think it has caused her trouble before but it's likely to spiral out of control unless she comes to a personal realisation of what it means to fight for a cause.

Velden is obsessed, but I'm not sure why. The hubris of defying the gods and giving up anything to achieve something that, for all he knows, won't even change the outcome or be in any way beneficial is borderline nuts. Perhaps he just can't stand the helplessness of not knowing and not being able to do anything. Then again, desparation and inability to let go are very human (or elven) reactions. He's just resourceful enough to take it to extremes.

I've only seen the character from one perspective, I think one somewhat atypical. He is very much a mystery to me.

Very brief interactions, but my initial intake of Joon is that he is a very unsure of himself and closeted, one who is bound to take record over action. His love of knowledge invites both good and bad to take advantage of his passion to simply do the work that is necessary, and because of that, he's sort of at everyone else's disposal. Though perhaps brief moments of bravery or cohesion to do bravery may cause him to act in such a way as carpe diam, left to his own devices, Joon is a glacial figure, whose tediousness for carving delicate fact will put him behind the fast paced and violent world.

Aiseth is a character I like as does my toon Harold (Though not openly as liking Aiseth is not done in Kohlingen these days

Aiseth would be the shadowbroker in mass effect. Very good in gathering information and sharing it for the right 'price' and morals be damned in the quest for knowledge and understanding.
Unfortunately Aiseth seems to be blind to the consequences of such information brokering and joining organisation thats are quite antagonistic to each other.
She seems to be just arrogant enough/ lack the self knowledge to deny/ realise that as well.

She's defenitely a very smart woman but I wouldnt call her wise since she doesnt seem to think things through always.

Harold is a good guy with all the flaws that a young man of his age. Enthusiasm, energetic and there is some idealistic naivety in him as well. Sometimes he is saying things that would make my toons slap him but this is what makes his character almost a living, breathing figure.

I have not had the pleasure of interacting with Glendil for a long time, but in the short while that Emilie has been getting to know the 'Black Bard' some of his flaws really come into play.

First, he seems incredibly eager to please others, but at the same time he is also extremely proud. He cannot seem to quite reconcile the two at times, and so he closes off and lashes out. He is incredibly perceptive and has learned the art of knowing what to say and how to say it. This has lead him to become almost a caricature of himself in mixed company (not unlike a certain other bard!). He seems a bit world-weary and bitter and has learned to hide it under a veneer of good humor. Even when he is heartfelt and genuine, to Emilie, she can't help but see the jester instead of the artist.

Oh, now I haven't spent as much time, or gotten to know Emilie near as well as I would like. But from my observation she is mired in some old behavior patterns with certain other characters, and doesn't see how they (intentionally or not) push her buttons, or the effects she allows them to have on her.

Brilliant character, and I look forward to learning more things that I can shamelessly write about. j/k :twisted:

Had my take on Emilie by Anatida ninja'd it while I was typing.

Lucius doesn't know Iim'mur'ss that well, so the only flaw that I can account for at the moment is that she tends to risk a lot without being certain that there is a good chance of profit. However, so far, the risks have been paying out for her. Should be more cautious and should probably find a firmer ground.

First of all - undead, I get it, but dude, soap and start scrubbing. I don't think the flies likes him because he has a badass long title.

Speaking of the title, Lucius loves his 'High Arcanist, Headmaster of Magisterium Mortis, Seeker of the Seven...' and so on title and proudly reminds people about it from time to time. I'll take is as an excuse to find inferiority disorder he hides somewhere.

Also, Lucius reminds me of an old man who has little toleration for 'youth these days'. Being an arcanist, quite a decent one actually, he obviously lacks some social skills, like chivalry or great sense of humor, even though he's trying to fit into the environment. He seems to avoid quarrels like a plague, as his absolutely best riposte when losing patience is *turns back and creeps away*. I think he judges certain kinds of people on first sight and isn't likely to change his mind (these judgements are accurate but that's not a point, I'm trying to diss here).

Aaannd... I can't find anything more so far. It's an excellent character, neatly developed and hopefully achieving even more than currently.

In the few times I've roleplayed with Nevadan, as well as both overseeing RP and hearing IC rumours, I think a large portion of Nevadan's flaws is impatience and misjudgement, perhaps lacking a certain sort of questioning ability as to why things work the way they do, as opposed to just accepting things as fact.

I'm sure there's others, but hopefully I'll get to see them soon!

I'm going to skip up to the most recent person's character I've actually had an interaction with (sorry everyone else, I've been away for awhile!)

Glendil has always struck me as the shady type. Perhaps it's the veneer of absolute good-will he tends to put out towards everyone, including people he doesn't know, that makes me suspect he's not entirely what he seems. He is a bard after all, and a performer is a performer. He flits between groups without making any particularly deep connections, always politicking and trying to get the next scrap of information without opening up at all about himself. His friendships seem to be more about proximity than compatibility, for how can you be compatible with someone you don't really know anything about? But maybe I'm just not privileged enough to see the real Glendil.

Alanna %&*#in' Molov.

The name is pretty apt because this woman is definitely reminiscent of a violent cocktail. (The Poor Man's Grenade, of course.)

'lanna doesn't know this, but her reputation preceded her (multiple real-time years, in fact, before I ever met the character). There are certain circles, certain individuals, that this woman has tied herself for eternity, for good or for bad. Some may consider that to be her biggest flaw (sometimes I think even she does)-- loyalty/forgiveness. I disagree. I find Alanna's biggest flaw to be her emotions. It's the driving force behind her hasty forgiving which has bit her in the ass, but it's also the reason she gets too involved with certain situations in the first place. It's the reason people pit themselves against one another in her life sometimes. It's the reason she attacks people spontaneously, the reason she considers weakness pathetic, the reason for all of it. She is a beautiful, intelligent role model that is constantly fighting her emotions with logic, with "good," with the teachings of her Goddess and ancestors, but.... she often loses.

She's not the only one though.

SAMMY! Literally one of Alanna’s favorite people (and secret crush), and one of the aforementioned folks she’s loyal to that sometimes bites her in the ass. :p

Sam is truly loving of, loyal to, and protective of the people she cares about (sometimes for mysterious reasons). If you’re not one of those people, she is either: extremely irritating, rude and disparaging, and sometimes even violent. If you haven’t been designated by Sam as a part of her inner circle, you probably don’t like her at all. She is incredibly picky about who she lets in, and those she does can sometimes be puzzling considering her strict moral code- she has a weakness for complicated folks with troubled pasts and no patience for those without empathy who do not try to understand (for you must understand in order to help) the people they view as evil or undesirable. If you’ve shown yourself to be beyond saving, however, Sam will be the first one in line to put you down.

She does not set burdens down lightly, especially if they were made by her own mistakes, and often indulges in alcohol and/or childish pranks and socializing in order to quiet the nagging thoughts of worthlessness and pain that plague her. Her volatile nature can often alienate people who could be useful allies to her cause, but she can’t seem to keep her mouth shut if she has a less-than-perfect opinion of someone (and doesn’t seem to care very much about trying.) She rates her self-worth based on how much good she perceives herself to be doing in the world, and if she's failing or struggling with a task she's set herself to she can often drop into a deep depression, for she relates any failure to a lack in herself, not any outside obstacle. One of my favorite characters around for her complexity and especially her flaws- it's a rare player that lets their character be as vulnerable and deeply fucked up as Sam is!

Alanna!

Estara got most of it already. I'd only add that Alanna's slip ups seem to hold more weight now as she's gained more experience over the years, that she feels she Shouldn't be having any mistakes. And she holds on to the ones she does make rather hard. At least that's the impression I get.

Sometimes she tends to attempt to at least give off the appearance of having it all together, but we all know that's not the case!

Darby is super suicidal always getting herself killed... and a bad gem fetish she will sprint half way across amia for a gem.

she also twitches a lot and has real bad tempter.

A good man that spends most of his time in a lich form?

I could not tell if Zamura was male or female.

Aight, I'm gonna have fun with that. I roleplayed with Zamura only briefly, but you won't fool me. She's male.

Fetishes. While everyone has them, Zamura is apparently -made- of them. Being in constant pains of caring about the quality of his kisses - which on the side note he gives away to everyone - this one probably spends too much time picking the right lipstick color for himself. Eats toes. Yeah, toes. Casual toes. Fortunatelly for his reputation only when he finds them attractive. Also, he enjoys a bit too much laying on a hot sand.

Despite his playful nature, Zam leaves a feeling that he can't be trusted. He seems naive, too. And blessed with ADHD. But I guess these are simply kobolds' thing.

But on the serious note, I can think of way too many flaws. Too self-confident, thinks his point of view is the only right one, stubborn, too self-confident, unpredictable, self-righteous, too self-confident, thinks he's invincible, oh did I mention too self-confident already? And cheeky - can't forget about that.

apart from that wicked sense of humor, which I admire, and has incredible talent to piss off wrong people, if he won't use his other talent to win over other people's trust;)

About Cynbel:
She's a little narrow minded sometimes, and is a little of a zealot when it comes to her beliefs of absolute freedom. While she says she wouldn't take any side, the character is unaware of her own behaviour, as she presents a hint of good. This sort of philosophies are full of hypocresies, but that is just bound to happen.
There's little more that I could note on the little hin as a flaw, except that she's a little naive and sometimes easily fooled by my character (or awesomely good at pretending to be fooled that I can't even notice it OOCly!)

Also, is a terrible crabdancer.

Ais... from my experiences, the copperkin is an internally torn individual. His desires and his blood were polar opposites to one another during his early stages which led to an internal conflict that still plagues him today. Hi desires to do good I think is as much a desire for redemption as to do the right thing by his blood.

He's also got a weakness for shiny things.

Scholar appears to be a drow. I have not had a chance to roleplay with him much, but from what little I have seen, he seems to at least possess the typical trait of arrogance. I've seen him toy with opponents that he could have veritably squashed under his smallest toes, even to the extent of suffering damage, only to regenerate it all in front of an audience. On that note, Scholar appears to be in love of attention― I've seen him literally steal the show at least twice.

He is an enigma and knows this, enjoying how the intrigue draws people to him like moths to a source of light. That is, provided the people in question have something of intrigue to offer him in turn. Vehement self-reliance is not necessarily a flaw, but I think when it seems to be a defining aspect of a character, it could potentially be treated as such.

Who the hell is this? I dunno. Imma post anyway to revive this thread - anybody below me is welcomed to refer to the dude above, if you know him - if not, the show must go on.

I've encountered Mahir a few times on various characters, and he comes across as a bit of a pompous blowhard. Though he did play the concept of "battle bard" rather well, he still had a strict standard for "outsiders". He held a similar high standard to those of Mulan descent. He took the secret of Tally's death to his character grave. :< Many sads.

Emellie's only flaw is her love for Richard. I kid, I'm sure Richard's lovely. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder, and (from what I saw in a couple plots) likes to take the moral high ground sometimes at the expense of her own soul, or the purity of her soul. So yes, there's the only flaws I can pick out through limited interaction with the character... but more is to come, because we have outstanding business to conclude!

I think Gorthod and Gerald were seperated at birth or something. They're both drunk promiscuous people who get stuff done, and are both trying to cut back because there's stuff that needs doing and the fish that need frying are really big'ns.

Though Gorthod seems a bit less able to do terrible things than Gerald to get to those goals accomplished, that and his presence is so fleeting that you're if you see him at all. He's just as likely to go back to Endir's Point as he is to fight the Arcanum.

Gerald's a stumbling drunk! Sometimes. And he also forgets how doors work.

He seems very brooding, as I guess his post demands of him. I don't think he has smiled once IC.

Beldor has a cool sword, but we all know Gerald has cooler swords! >.>

Tends to be impulsive and acts without planning his steps ahead, which gets Gerald killed way too often.

Contrary to popular belief Lucius does not shy away from conflict. He thrives on it and will take any chance to prove his superiority to anyone who is around to listen

Also he is a bigot and a hypocrite just like the rest of us

Like Gerald, he also falls victim to not planning things through entirely, and as a higher-up in Tarkuul, is probably too secretive for the organisation's own good.

Certain wizard would prostitute himself to get what he wants - as far as I can tell that's a flaw, sorta, more or less.
Also, strike me as a character a little naive, and also hypocritical (You know, a necromancer chasing another necromancer just for the reasons, which I'm not even sure which those are) but I don't really know Vaaros that well to say much more about it - that's what my exterior scan leads me to think.

Also, this thread is about characters, not players!
