If I were to request in the "requests" sub-forum, a piece of armor with 0% ASF, and that's the only thing I wanted, how many powers would that use up for mythal crafting, and is it possible to request such a piece of armor and request that it not use up any powers for mythal crafting?

If nobody knows, or if the answer is dependent on the DM/request, please still let me know. Thanks in advance!

ASF is 1 Mythal Power when it's involved in the MCS and DMs can't change that for one armour I believe,

You're either gonna spend less DCs buying a standard 0% ASF armour and crafting it yourself but you waste one power, or you could request one that goes slightly over. (This one that was approved was at 5 Powers)

One more slightly related question, does a shield count as an equippable item or armor, for how many powers it can have? In other words, can a shield have 3, or 4 powers, in mythal crafting?

Armour, it counts as 4.

Or you can simply waste no -% asf armors and buy one IG for gold.

Downside is there's no 0 ASF Heavy armour or Tower Shields, which is what most of the 0 ASF requests are :p

I'm really sure shields count as 4, but I could be proven wrong I guess.

Shields are Armor with 4 Powers but, you need to look on the Equipable Items list in the M.C.S. sidebar, for what you want, since there is no section just for Armor.

Shields can only hold 3 powers. Gloves, body armors and weapons are the only things that can hold 4 or more.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm stupid. I re-read the Mythal page.

Still though, does anyone have proof for shields, with 3 or 4 powers? Or, does a DM/dev have any input?

As it has been said twice now, shields have 3 slots. Try crafting one from say a +1 base shield and you will see. It is not possible to have a property not take up a slot in crafting, even if you DC request it. You're better off just requesting the DC item with all of the powers you want on the final item, and RP forging or crafting the rest.

Another question, are we allowed to DC request certain enchantments be added to already-made equipment, or is it strictly for new equipment to be made? If it's case-by-case, that's fine too, I'm just wondering if there's a rule about it I don't know about.

I believe the answer is yes (and I also believe this is pending change), but the process would be priced according to the combined final power of the item, as opposed to the power of the single property you sought added. This means that it would be quite cost ineffective, instead of creating a brand new item.

Whether we're adding a property to an existing item, or making a whole new item, the process is the same and takes the same amount of time and effort on a DM's part. Hence the cost being the same.

Oh, I see!

One last question that I just came across whilst boredly surfing Amia's documentation and forums. For a warforged or true-forged weapon, does the +2d6 piercing/slashing/whatever damage get counted into the mythal system? It's not listed on any pages on the mythal crafting. I know the massive crit is, and keen/enchantment bonus/etc. are, but the physical damage bonus isn't mentioned. I'm wondering because I'm curious how much you can craft a warforged weapon basically (they're keen, massive crit, and damage bonus, which should be 1 power each, right?)

The physical damage is in what is normally the elemental damage slot.

Each of those are 1 power, yes. If you have a warforged weapon you can craft 2 powers worth of stuff onto it using the mythal crafting system (to a total of 5 powers). Pretty sure it's the same for trueforged, you should be able to craft 2 powers worth (to a total of 4 powers).

Wait, so if I tried to craft a +2d4 elemental damage boost, it'd replace, not stack with, the physical damage? Are you 100% absolutely certain?

Yes.

As I found, however, if it is elemental damage vs. ________, it stacks. However neutral elemental and physical damage replace whatever you craft.

Yes. That is how the crafting system works for any damage boost, except ones that are group limited,I.E. 1d8 vs Evil, Elf, etc.
