All ooc item restrictions apart of the arcane archer arrows can be ignored.

If you can use the item with your UMD, you can use it even if it still has an ooc restriction.

This does include deity rings too now.

This still does not include the AA arrows. They are and remain the only exception to this.

Wow, I thought we did that ages ago.

I think the deity ring clause is the only change, Yoss. Woohoo, finally the triump of reason!

All we need now is spontaneous combustion, thunder-strikes, icicle crashes, very local rain etc to occur to people wearing the rings with the wrong alignment. <_<

I was probably remembering some amount of bitching I did about us not doing it all at the same time.

Kind of disappointed by this. Arcane Archers already get +1/1 Damage/AB every odd numbered level they don't need class restricted arrows to be good, my AA's all excel with forest defenders. Only thing that restrictions serves is setting a standard that makes it impossible to create any semblance of balance with regards to Ranged Fighting on this server.

It think that restriction is because the arrows the AA class create are actually a magic effect and not the physical arrows that we think of. You know, kinda like this sort of deal. Not an actual arrow, but elemental magic formed into an arrow's shape, like Mestils or something.

While that covers the lore reasons as to why this would be so, it doesn't invalidate MoshingChris's concern.

They're clearly arrows, though. Wood and fletching and arrowhead. You can physically barter them to other characters, or leave one on the ground and walk away. Some of them even describe what they're made of in their item bio.

I am curious to know the reasoning behind this, though. I do kind of agree with Mosh's point that AA doesn't need any help archering, and basically every other class utterly sucks at it. What makes the AA arrows unique?

A round of thanks to the DMs first for the concessions already made, before we look ungrateful by focusing on the downside.

Yup just the deity ring thing is new.

Alas I thought I mentioned it in general again because occasionally people still ask! :D

The AA arrows are unique, because the properties assigned to the AA-only arrows are representative of the magic imparted from Arcane Archer to the arrow at the time of making a shot. They're not supposed to carry those powers all of the time, it was simply the easiest way to implement at the time when they were introduced. This also has to come with the understanding that the damage amounts were introduced as an incentive for AA's to use these arrows rather than the previous versions, which actually had spell effects on them and were damaging to the server's stability due to on-hit spells creating lag.

So reasoning for the immense damage amounts was Incentive + Less Lag. They didn't want to take away the AA's toys, but also couldn't leave AA's with the arrows which were lagging everything up. Reasoning behind the OOC restriction is that only an AA can enchant their arrows like that as they shoot them.

^ That is all just my understanding of what has happened over the years. DM's might come up with a better explanation for you.

Eh could always make as have a crafting feature like master scout, but the arrows be nontradable and decrease the amount it costs to craft them. Kill like three birds with one arrow if you ask me since rarely are some of the arrows used due to the extreme gold cost.

I'll do that and put the quest arcs on hold :P

(ie, yes, it could be done, but there are other things needing doing, so just bear the OOC restrictions in mind for now please)
