A while back I spoke with someone in Tells who was trying to bring back there old PC Faction. Was wondering if they were still accepting Pc's into the House. For the life of me I can't remember there Handle.

That was the past~ Who knows, cut the right deals and Tinn could be back! I mean, I dunno if enough members would resurface to make it possible...
They could come back for sure, they just run the potential of being hunted down, hah.
Also, moar evil houses! YES! Muwahahaha. Bring on the Lolthites! DO IT!

Well, Uh sure? I mean i want that too... But there's nobody logging online nowadays so why bother? And those that do log in are banned from the settlement.

I know Nalt gets on regularly, I do when I can but I have some stuff brewing on another char so I have to split my time wisely (been doing a lot IC behind the scenes at least). TDR sadly is having internet issues, so she can't get IG. Though I don't know why most of Vilrath doesn't get on, that makes me sad

There are IC issues for anyone wanting to revive Tinnerai other than its acceptance by the new island - says its /still/ Matron - that are ICly known by other PCs and more than a few DMs.
Joined: 29 Aug 2006 Location: Victoria, BC, Canada
If you make a new house it kind of invalidates you from being the matron of the previous house. Tinnerai currently has no Matron since it is currently not a house. So really anyone could restart it if they wanted, and unless its "cursed" or something stupid any IC issues would be minimal.
I hate that perfectly legitimate IC actions are considered unreasonable. But regardless it's been hashed out via PMs with Dusty, who does not believe there is anything heavy-handed going on. And you are aware of this.
PS - If you have old spider-huggers come back to ussssss

I thought by stepping Miz'ri out that I was solving the problems of the universe, and everyone would then get along peacefully!... noooooooooooooooooooooooo, can't you all just get along by making fun of her for having dragon blood? I miss playing Miz'ri, but I must admit that I don't miss the amount of OOC that went with the IC.
Joined: 29 Aug 2006 Location: Victoria, BC, Canada
Nope, for some reason everyone decided to go the opposite route and put someone pretending to actually be a dragon into a leadership position... Still not sure what happened with that.
But anyway the entire "IC actions = IC consequences" thing has always been a stupid line to me. I mean it is fine in theory, but it breaks down since you are not purely dealing with characters, you are dealing with other players. IC actions also have OOC consequences. And banning is really one of the worst ways to deal with things because is it ICly logical? Sure, but you're basically cutting off a lot of RP stuff by doing it and a lot of the time the characters and player will go elsewhere. Its kind of shooting yourself in the foot.
Then there is the whole players doing stuff IC because its what they want OOC and then they claim "IC actions = IC consequences" but that is an entirely separate can of worms.

[sarcasm]Cool, so we'll unban everyone and let heretics do whatever they please.[/sarcasm]*
See? It goes both ways. You can't make everyone happy. And before anyone screams that we immediately ban people, we don't. One person, by all accounts, should have been sacrificed but we made it work. They are on shaky ground and know it, but we did what we could. In another case the person was worked with IC and shit got all screwy. In another, the person just kept screwing up IC.
We do our best to make it work IC and OOC, because we don't want to cut off RP, but in certain instances it's necessary otherwise everything you are trying to do IC is pointless (see sarcasm quote above).
*PS - I know you are not exactly saying to let people run amok, GE, but every time someone complains about other players having been banned (normally because it makes things inconvenient for the person complaining) it's made to sound like we ban people just to be dicks.
I really wish this could be taken as against all settlements and banning, but it's in a drow thread and it's always having to do with Nec'perya (okay, sometimes Tarkuul). No one ever bitches about people being banned from Kohl or Cordor or Wiltun or whatever. Frankly I'm getting sick of it, and I know others are as well (and they don't even have to deal with the complaining OOC).
FYI - The above shouldn't be taken as me being angry, I'm just giving it raw. It's just frustrating and makes me want to quit the UD because apparently we are bad people

I love the UD, its always been my favourite area/group/etc on the server and I would always encourage more players to try making characters to play down there. That said I've seen characters go ban happy down there on several occasions, that or trying to brand a house heretics or make others lose power. All of which are good plans ICly, but I've always been of the mind that if at all possible other options that will keep the players there should be highest priority.
Basically if you can find a reason to keep "heretics" or whoever else around around (as long as they aren't just trying to mess stuff up) then take it, because the UD has rarely had an abundance of players and if you can keep the ones you have you should even if its not ICly optimal.

From a OOC perspective, I think it was kind of excessive, the lengths that people went through to screw over (my) house at the time, lol. That said, I totally rolled with the IC punches, but at the end of the day, I thought by stepping out it was what would be best for everyone. But the grass is always greener on the other side, and people always need a scapegoat.

Definitely. I'm all for non-Lolthites trying to establish something but the key is to not let it be known. The anti-Lolth deities of the drow are very pro-secrecy. If you character is found out IC, well, that's your problem unfortunately. There's a lot of ways around things, and I'm willing to work with people to a certain extent, but I cannot compromise my character for OOC reasons.
Everything she does it's for a distinct reason (even having Sol come into power), and she's super zealous. Like, drow of Old zealous. I've compromised a little for the sake of being nice, but unfortunately I can't change my character into something she's not. You can only be so flexible.
Also, for the sake of saying it, a lot of the old stuff is before my time in the UD. Everything that I post is only relevant to about six months before Edonil fell and into Nec'perya. Beyond that, I can't say much as Zrae wasn't in any position of power <3

Honestly, if it's old school Tinn-Tinn's there's less of a problem. It was the recent house that caused all the issues and shit. Zrae loves hardcore followers

Miz'ri vs Scholar - some of us are just kind of humouring the enigma of the Scholar. Miz'ri is like a politician with an easily identifiable flaw to pick on (like gays or blacks or something, I dunno I'm not good at bigotry so I don't know how it goes) - it doesn't matter what your personal feelings were about dragonkin, but she was a political threat and therefore it was blown up and thrown in her face. It's worth noting that the ones who did that aren't really around anymore. Maybe they'd feel the same about the Scholar. I know Nizz did, really.

This has always been my policy and it has worked incredibly well, for cases where Ada herself has discovered incriminating things. Not just for keeping people involved, but for gaining loyal allies - even characters who don't agree with yours will stick with you if they believe that they have no one else to turn to in order to stay involved (doesn't always work *cough*Phrae*cough* but it's a good policy). It helps to be like, awesome smart or something, I think I've got everyone fooled that that's me
These threads always get such interesting responses.

Tee-hee. I cannot confirm nor deny that Zrae does shady things like this with past and or current UD characters and or Surfacers.

Well, it certainly didn't help that most of their IC motivations and decrees were brought about by an OOC misunderstanding of drow lore . I wouldn't say I was losing. But I would say the settlement was losing, from having the debacle. I cared about that more than my own PC. Everyone picks their battles. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to playing her again, albeit it is hard to find a purpose for her, circumstances given the way they are.
Edit: Actually I lied. I just read the ban list. Somehow I'm on the ban list for pretending to be pure blooded. That's rather amusing, all by itself, I'll leave you all to it

From what i have come to understand in the aftermath of the great ooc debacle there was various interpretations of lore which rivalled. One interpretation of lore was in majority and thus the minority was submersed through various IC means rising from the majority's interpretation of the canon lore.
And now in the ruins of our decisions we have nothing.
Strife, True pioneer-style adventure, tense situations, subtle shifts in events that create huge waves later, and so much more!
That is just a glimpse of what the UD has to offer to all UD racial characters (not just Drow) ICly. So long as you guys can continue to keep the drama IC and get along/be civil OOCly, you all can accomplish wonderful things!

Well, assuming that DMs don't use NPCs in favor of one side or the other (and I assume that was the central issue that needed rectifying in the first place), then there's really no reason to discuss what flies and what doesn't OOC. If you have enough brain and brawn to change drow culture or just secure a place for yourself, you can do or be anything. It doesn't matter what the "right" lore interpretation is as long as NPCs and the setting stay out of PC power struggles. Maybe your Vhaeraunian-Lolthite hybrid house is an abomination in the sight of the majority, but it's up to you to cleave a way through opposition IC.

A fair and valid point. Though a dwindling population for a small community isn't going to respond well to people forcing these kinds of issues on them; or at least they really haven't in the past. They will likely get OOCly upset (like what has happened several times already) and quit playing until you give up.
Okay, I just spent all night combing through Drow lore and I have come to the conclusion I want to make my own Noble House.... again. LOL So I'll be piecing all my notes together and hopefully I can come up with something soon.

LOL Bloody changed my mind again. Got headaches just trying to figure out a name. Think trying to start a Noble House is biting off way more than I can chew right now. Perhaps Ill just have one in the works that ill figure out the details over time.

Ra'mora Is a true Tinnerai blood. Birthed by The first Matron of Tinnerai Bree'nyee. If someone wanted to play her daughter. As us yathrin and claim true linage. I'm open to brain storming. Ra'mora had mate for a while named Tarath. So it's very possible she had another kid after isrea'anna

I think it's important that the server culture in general always keep moving forward. Sure, if you want to revive Tinnerai names and customs and colors, do it! But I wouldn't try to relive it or bring back what it was. That said, no one has to listen to me...
People all over Amia are like Italians-- all words and bluster, but they still love their family. They usually just feel wounded. I've seen just as much tension up top as down below, the drowsies just don't have as many restricted forums to talk shit in! <3 Been doin' both for like what... 7 years now? Jesus I need a life.
There is merit both in the idea of moving forward and using pre-existing material. Always ask yourself "why" and try to answer it as honestly as possible. Honestly usually means admitting to motivations you don't want to acknowledge, but once you get past that you can start using material, new or old, to make something that appeals to everyone. Or to more than just you and a few interested parties.
Bringing back old houses is cheesy, most of the time. It also makes little IC sense, since drow don't give you any points for being the heir of a political failure they haven't heard of in years.

I completly agree. I just commented on them having nice colours. If they are avaliable, and i start my own house, those would be my colours BUt yes, old ones should die and perish, be removed from historical annals, and dishonered and whatnot. Drow do not fail, we are superior

And that's why I won't be playing Malice anytime soon, or Vorn'ang outside of creeping folk out in the entry. Dead should mean it when it comes to the drow - and that includes institutions!

ABC. Simple concept. You don't like the negative effects of getting banned?
1) Don't play something you know is going to be banned from a region at outset.
2) Don't do anything to GET you banned if you can help it?
This doesn't change the fact that it's an incredibly cheap cop out. There are IC consequences for IC actions but trust me when I say more than a few bans and problems have been solved by less than IC means as of late.

And three is the charm babe. You know I never read any source material on drow? Still haven't. I just play as a sadistic asshole

I prefer black and violet as colors, always have always will. Never really played a drow that did much, but I hope to change that, but I need other drow to interact with.
