The following notices are spread all across Cordor, left in the Nomad, the Long and Short, the Trade Hall, and all over the various districts with special focus on the recently devastated Western District. The notices are posted by an invisible man who quickly leaves when his work is done, making no effort to return.

A short, pointed notice, dispersed by the Living Guard in plainclothes:

To the refugees of West Cordor, or any other Cordorian resident sickened and disheartened by the bloodshed, the Enclave of Tarkuul is pleased to offer sanctuary to any whom wish to make the short trek. Our men will be in the swamps keeping the creatures at bay. We offer safe lodging, healing for your sick and wounded, and more important, a place to start fresh, free from the tyranny of the Harpers, Nobles and their corrupt puppets. Within the enclave even those of the most humble means can earn the chance to shed off ignorance and take Fate into their own hands, be it through the strength and discipline taught by our loyal Centurions, or the academics of the Magisterium. Tradesmen and merchants will be paid handsomely to ply their work within our halls. Be not afraid to reach out for help should you have the resolve to look past the lies they wish you to believe of us. We will be here, and we will Listen.

And true to their word, the officers of the Living City keep the path to the portal clear of any dangers, for those brave souls that decide to try their luck.

Save for those who make the immediate rush (if any), would-be refugees from Cordor to Tarkuul (again, if any) face a slight obstacle. Commoners or otherwise obvious city refugees attempting to cross the swamp to the portal would be fired upon by an archer concealed in the gloom of the swamp. Warning shots are always fired first - arrows that whistle a blurdcurdling scream as they travel through the air, enchanted to strike fear into the hearts of the weak-willed. For those who persist, the arrows strike more truly - aiming for the legs to discourage further advances. They refrain from outright killing refugees however, and any who would persist regardless are simply let be. When the swamp is clear of prospective refugees, the archer collects traces of their activity and relocates to a different perch.

It seems the attacker has not yet encountered any patrols from the Living City, but perhaps a confrontation is only a matter of time...

((placeholder for once we know what the actual turnout is, if any))
