Hello all,

I used to play NWN from the moment it landed on store shelves, specifically sought out the RP PW atmosphere and even made my own server at one point. Life and burn out with the server I played on (due to super drastic changes and a character reset) killed my desire to play. I never found another server I enjoyed like my first. Still, I recall those days fondly and began looking for a server that might rekindle my love of NWN. After some searching here I am.

The download is taking forever for the hakpak but will be done shortly. While I've already read much of what is available in the forums my real questions are thus:

1. I have been on servers with multiple settlements and they often result in few to no players in some (or even all) of them. What is the best location to ensure regular interaction with other players? Are there any to avoid (dead, or frequently PC empty settlements)?

2. NWN is an old game now and last time I tried a return the only players were weary vets with high level characters. As a result new players starting at level one (or whatever level was the starting level for each server I tried) would either have to tag along with super heroes or try to level on their own. Some classes are more suited to being by themselves or in small groups, whereas others absolutely need support. Basically, to get to the question portion, how difficult is it to find other low level players to level with or is this server just high levels sitting around the campfire and occasionally setting off to fight baalors in the baalor hills while my level one bard plays with his lute in the tavern all day?

Trying to be silly and funny a bit in the way I word my questions, but I've had a lot of disappointing forays into NWN in the last couple of years as I've looked for a good server. I used to avoid hak paks but have decided perhaps that is part of the problem. As I mentioned earlier this is the first PW I found after accepting hak paks into my life that looked promising. Anyway, hope to see some of you in game soon.

1.) That's a bit of a current hot-button issue, actually. The DM team is aware of it, though, and apparently have some notions of how to address it. There aren't really any areas that are totally dead, though, just areas where rushes of activity are kind of sporadic.

2.) During peak play hours, like evenings US time, you probably won't have too much trouble. Amia has a "party widget" that makes hooking up with like-leveled folks a bit easier, too. During weird off hours, things will likely be a little more hit 'n miss.

3.) Welcome to Amia! Feel free to nudge people in game with questions, too, if you like. We're a generally friendly lot. :)

I am new to Amia aswell and had a break from RP'ing in general. What I can say is that this is the best darn PW world I have been in for a LONG time. I hope you enjoy your stay as I have!!

To dig into question 2 a bit; there are a lot of players that make new characters to try new concepts. Just the other day we were four people ranging from level 3-8 running around together, despite the fact that we all already have high level characters.

I don't think you'll have any problems finding people to play with. You can try Liz's suggestion with the party ball.

Horribly choppy and nearly unplayable at first. Spent the last half hour figuring it out. I'm not sure if it was the last step specifically or some of the earlier steps coupled with the last step but here's some info in case it's not common knowledge.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/10801 ... -core-cpus

Multi core cpu = choppy game play and lock up. As soon as I did this, voila, perfect. Yay, I can play now. Thanks for the responses, see you guys in game.

Spent about an hour running around the city, got a level off the delivery quests but did not see a single player once. This is exactly what I was worried about. I don't want to play this game by myself. I'll try again some other time. Looks like a nice server, but feels really, really empty. :(

I don't know if this is okay to write, metagaming and all but... Forgive me this once ;) Bendir Dale is usually pretty crowded! Go there and you will find RP.

There is a good thread in the lore section http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=64432 which has information on different factions on the server.

Granted you have made a character already it is still a good read :)

Yeah.. I agree with Kaczpis... it is metaish but.... I remember when I first started here and could find no one anywhere. It bites. Big time. I quit for 8 months after trying to find rp for two weeks. But I wasn't high enough level to venture out of the city.. or so I thought. After finally coming back to give it another try, I found people and regretted all that time I missed out on playing Amia. This is one of the greatest FR servers I have ever played on.

Take the cart to Bendir Dale from Cordor North. It's not expensive and even if you get thrown off, you can hoof it the rest of the way north. Its not far and if you stay on the road, you shouldn't have any problems. There is always someone in Bendir Dale and usually many someones. I'll look for you next time IG and we can 'run into' one another :) Being the new kid in town is hard and a little help from other players is always welcome. Even if we can't help as the character, just having someone to talk to is awesome :) What's your toon's name so I can look for you? shoot me a pm if you like.

Thanks for the responses. I play a halfling and had meant to head to Bendir Dale at some point, but how to get there was not obvious and the one time I tried I nearly died. Invulnerable NPCs saved me (which then made me feel like an arse -- but me and that chicken are pals now, so . . . ).

No need to arrange accidental encounters. Most servers have one or two really popular 'hang out' spots and once you find them you are fine. The problem as I see it is Cordor is a dead city AND the starting city. This makes the process fairly unfriendly to new players such as myself that are more interested in RP and story than solo grinding until they 'happen' upon other players.

Making my way to Bendir Dale. I just feel bad for other new players that want to try this game and don't have the patience or desire to come into the forums and ask for help. First impression as it currently is = pretty, but empty. As this has been discussed in another thread in great length I'll leave it at that. Good to know it's being looked into and I see what Liz meant about it being a hot button issue. Thanks again for the responses and help, everyone. You've made it clear the community here is pretty awesome and I hope to be interacting with many of you in game soon.

Cordor used to be packed, it long since moved in popularity to Bendir due to it being a set of crossroads.

Cordor remains the primary starting hub because the leveling is build around it. If you were to start at Bendir or Kohlingen your character would get smacked by spawns with a CR at least twice that of your character. The reason Cordor has become empty is because it is filled with angry mobs of peasants and oppertunistic antagonizers that make everyone flee for their lives.

Cordor being "dead" has to do with ingame events that have happened.
