Do you have any tips how I should play a follower of Urdlen without getting a ban?

I don't understand the question. Why should there be any correlation at all between the two?

Don't be, as we call it, 'Chaotic Stupid' about it. Simple. Follow the rules, nab a DM when you want to do something big, etc.. And you'll be fine.

http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/Urdlen

And that is to the wiki page regarding him. he's basically a kill, maim, burn and destroy gnomish god.

Or how I can play follower of Udlen at all, becouse if I would follow his dogma I should kill every gnome that I meet. So a ban was the first thought that came in my mind.

You need to heed the PvP rules as everyone else. No matter what you play.

Okey, it would seem that a ban was too strong word, let me modify my question. Do you have any tips how I should play a follower of Urdlen?

Succumb to the bloodlust. Hate, covet, crush, despoil, and kill. Revel and exult in orgies of death and destruction. That which is living or created by life must be murdered or destroyed. The strong survive and the weak are their cattle. Propitiate the Crawler Below so it does not come for you.

Yyyeah, I don't think Urdlen can be played convincingly by a PC. At least not from the get-go. If you were to create a character, get it to a high enough level, and then have it traumatized to the point where Urdlen-worship seems reasonable, it would be a lot more... reasonable. Roleplaying a follower of the most lolevil deity in the entire setting at low levels, though, isn't very feasible. You'd be gutted by guards before you're fininshed growling. And even at higher levels, where you can PvP more comfortably, you'd still basically have to go around shouting "I FOLLOW A GOD THAT MAKES MALAR LOOK LIKE LATHANDER AND I AM GOING TO BITE YOU!".

Quote:
Dogma: Succumb to bloodlust. Seize power-directly. Hate, covet, crush, despoil, and kill. Revel and exult in orgies of death and destruction. That which is living or created by life must be murdered or destroyed because that is the ultimate end of all and to deny it is to deny the truth of all existence. The strong survive and the weak are their cattle. Do what Urdlen wants first; second, do whatever you want. Give in to every evil impulse, for what use is there in covering over the truth of your nature? Propitiate the Crawler Below with sacrifice so that it does not come for you. Existence is a cosmic joke before death, the truth behind it all, comes at Urdlen's claws. Sharing the cruel ironies and harsh humor of existence with others is only kind, for it helps to toughen them for what is coming in the end.

Here is some more information, though I really think Urdlen is a deity meant for NPC antagonists, not PCs. Even the other evil gods have some form of restraint or other.

I think by "ban" he simply meant being banned from everywhere in game due to his character's actions. But yeah... doesn't sound really plausible to RP without that happening. Never came across a deity like this before. About the only way I could see this working is if your character was somehow subtle about it, yet that is contrary to the deity's dogma anyway. There's no way you could be one of his clerics, that's for certain. An assassin maybe? I seriously doubt this guy has very many clerics to begin with.

Humm... it is a bit tricky on thatone.

The way I see it your options basically are (if you do not want to be hunted 24/7) that your character takes out his extreme bloodlust on monsters/NPC while being a bit more subtle on PC (because he knows they are stronger and he needs a more tactical approach to kill them instead of simply jumping into their face and get killed.)

So basically

- Unleash his fury onto the critters of Amia, slaughter them brutally and senselessly what many people will not mind so much
- Be more careful about "Stronger" oppontens (PC), taking them one on one if the situation deems it appropriate and without 200 witnesses.

That's a bit metagaming, though. If your character would slaughter a NPC fighter without a thought, then he shouldn't react any differently to a PC fighter. There is merit to the suggestion, though. Instead of limiting the decision between PCs and NPCs, make it a decision between the civilized and uncivilized. Granted, there's still a chance you'll run into an uncivilized PC, but at least you stand a better chance.

Yossarin's suggestion should be taken seriously.

You don't play obvious villains to have lasting character development and live happily ever after. (And don't twist that to mean good villains can't develop.) You play them to give other players a challenge, to stir up some trouble, create a story and have fun while it lasts. And then die.

It could be a very interesting character and cause some worthwhile interaction. Just go into it expecting to eventually get caught and killed. Make people afraid of the mad gnome murdering travelers in Bramble Woods, have adventurers chase you around the island, and when they eventually win, go down gracefully. In short: treat it like a DM would treat a disposable NPC.

You don't need a high level to be a murdering lunatic.

Don't play a cleric/blackguard of Urdlen and be an opportunistic follower. Kill and revel in slaughter when you know victory is assured, but play coy and maybe say "I love Tymora!" when certain death faces you down. Then, like Yoss said, go on a bloodthirsty killing spree in the name of Urdlen and butcher a kennel full of puppies or something. Even psychopaths have self-preservation instincts.

No, it's server rules. Can't just go killing PCs (or NPCs, really, because you need a DM).

It's not meta gaming, it's common sense. Everyone would approach killing an enchanted an high armored adventurer differently than some random monsters, which usually are easier to kill.

One can judge the power if a foe IC (and if course occasionally misjudge ;))

Never said you should not attack PC at all either. Just be smarter about it and heed the PVP rules.

Having played an Urdlener previously I can attest to the fact that they do work on Amia and you can play them relatively close to the Dogmatic description.

Just don't intend to play them for more than a few months and be prepared to perma your character.

Quote:

You don't need to be smart about it at all. Hend and I weren't.

Quote:

The rules actually favor an Urdlener because you only have to give the character in question the opportunity to run away or back-down. If they don't they are fair game.

Quote:

Terrible advice because it is metagaming to differentiate between an Adventurer and NPC's. Folk avoiding PvP because of the level differential are the worst. I hate seeing Paladins walk away from an Undead Summon because they metagame the OOC knowledge about a Summons particular level.

This 100x. Its not an alternate character because you never intend to have him/her having long term impact on the server.

You're completely misinterpreting what I said. I never said to differencate between an adventurer by their summon or anything the like. I said a person would approach an adventurer who is potentially heavily armored or capable to cast powerful spells differently than standard critters. A few spiders, boars, wolves, swamp hags. Crappy weaponed goblins and kobolds which run around outside with shredded cloth armor and shabby rusty weapons.

Thats no metagame in the slightest.

P.S. This can of course end in funny scenes of attacking the wrong slobby clothed kobold of goblin and getting your behind kicked. :P

But yes, the PvP rules are not hard to heed here and still pull it off to attack PC. But heeded they must be!

I don't hate them. I just screenshot the stuff and let them walk.

But that being said I agree with IronAngel on this. If you are annoying and/or shocking people IC it means you are doing a good job. Stir as much trouble as possible and make the ending as glorious as possible (or hide forever!).

I hate seeing paladins walk away when I have fiends summoned because of some arbitrary courtesy they call the boss-hunter's code.

Who said anything about monsters with crappy armor and rusted weapons? I plainly said you should not treat a PC Fighter any differently than a NPC Fighter. Meaning if your character would kill a Human NPC without a second thought if he could, it should not have any effect in regards to killing a PC Human that appears to be on the same "level" as the NPC.

I think there's really only an issue if the player forces there to be an issue. Urdlen followers don't necessarily have to kill every living thing they see, they just have to kill everything they happen to feel like killing. An Urdlenite is capable of walking into a busy city to buy a meal, or whatever. The dogma is *unrestrained* bloodlust, not necessarily *equal* bloodlust for everyone. If you feel like killing something, kill it. If you happen to not feel like killing something, then go get some lunch or something. You don't have to slaughter every single creature that crosses your path. Maybe your Urdlen worshiper just doesn't happen to feel much hatred for humans? Maybe his wrath is only really piqued by elves, or hin, or whatever.

Bottom line is: you decide what your character's whims are. Urdlen mandates that you act on your whims, without necessarily dictating what your whims must be.

There are significant cues that would give a lot of PCs a visual edge over regular NPCs that you can't really discern due to engine limits and/or the depth of a person's bio. Wearing incredibly impressive armour, wielding a two-hander like it's a stick and casually doing backflips rather than walking like the regular plebs are all indicators that don't even take into account the fact that your natural 20 strength barbarian looks like The Hulk's nightmares on steroids (with added dragon blood!). Never mind casting spells that would baffle competent magicians, or holding a staff made of the bones of a thousand turkeys. Unless a PC is a commoner or perhaps pretty low level, it's quite likely that they would be mean looking mothertruckers. You generally don't get by as an adventurer by knitting curtains all day, after all.

Unless you're incredibly dedicated to the job system, but that's unlikely.

EDIT: To the OP, if you're really looking to play a devout of Urdlen I'd stick with what Yoss said. Short, sweet and bloody would seem to be the most fun and realistic way to go. Just make sure you cover your butt with screenshots and follow the PvP rules if that's the route you decide to take. 90% of the time people will buttrage over PvP, especially if they lose, and it's often nice to have some evidence to shoot down baseless accusations so you don't get drawn into a turdslinging match.
