Hello

I've been trying to find some more info on the items you can craft and how exactly it works. Since picking up a job is a permanent thing I'd rather not just try and hope it's good for anything so I'm asking here!

Is the gear you're able to create strong in comparison to what you ordinarily find in the loot and shops?

And even better if someone could just explain how it works I'd love that. :D

The gear you craft with the job has only a very minor (flavor) enchantment. The benefit of the job is the RP and the unique appearance stuff that's only available through the job.

Oh.. I read somewhere that you could copy the effects of an existing item onto a custom crafted one?

I believe that's done via request.

You can transfer stuff from standard items onto the job made ones, through the anvil in some manner (It tells you the order of how to do this), so you can use the custom looks without suffering too much at the higher levels.

Or I am fairly sure you were able to, at one point.

You can. There's a command for that which gets available to you once you get armorsmith for instance.

I thought so too, Rigela, but I never found anything in the options at the time do tried that tells you how or anything and couldn't work out how it worked by tryng a couple of things, like putting other armour I want in with the one that holds the properties and even tried putting them in in a different order incase there was a script that detected what you put in first or one needed to be on one side so it knew which was being transferred to the other. :(

Granted it was quite some time before I started any job on a character after the release of the system and there's the possibility it was removed or I just tried it wrong ways, assuming it was added.

I've had characters successfully use those appearance-swap functions for the tailor, armorsmith, and weaponsmith jobs. Unless they got bugged very recently, they are present and functional.

I assume you can only transfer the characteristics of a full plate to a fullplate and that they override whatever previous characteristics said armor had?
