Evening everyone, have some question about faith. I found a canon diety that i want my character to follow, but the diety is not in amias diety system. So the questions are:

1. Can i rp that i follow a diety even if its not in the system (as a pure wizard, no cleric/pally levels)?
2. Is it possible to get a diety in to the system without causing the devs hours of work?

I had hoped to later get the diety in to the game, but dont want to cause devs, DMs or players any problem, so i thought it would be best to ask before i do anything. Havent seen a thread about this yet, but has anyone done this before?

It depends on the deity and whether or not it is a part of our cosmology. No, it isn't hard to get a deity implemented into the system but it does require roleplay. Non-divine classes can follow non-system deities fine, but I'm not too sure about divine classes.

Thank you for the quick answer.
The diety in question is "Pale Night".

EDIT: She is on the amia wiki, so i guess she is part of the canon :)

It's canon if and only if it's from a book or a web article with the Forgotten Realms and WotC/TSR logo on it.

Amia Wiki is player mainted, full of errors, and not canon. The article in question doesn't cite its sources.

She's not a goddess anyhow, according to that wiki entry. She's a demon. But yes, you can worship demons. I suggest finding the original source and determining whether it's an FR product or not. My guess she's from one of the fiend books (Fiendish Codex I and II or something?) which aren't FR-specific but probably applicable insofar as they don't contradict specific FR lore. Demon lords are dime in a dozen so my completely uneducated guess would be that one from a core D&D product would exist.

Pale Night can be worshipped. And yes she's part of our cosmology.

Fixed that for you. Fiendish Codex II is about Baator.

The problem would be there if a divine caster worshipped a diety considered a part of our cosmology but not listed in the diety domain choices. Clerics of uncategorized dieties wouldn't be able to cast.

I would say worship a deity with the same domains as Pale Night, but don't take me at my word just yet. Wait for a few more DMs to pitch in.

This, pretty much. I would say that if you wanted to follow a deity not supported by our current system, post a quick request and we DM's will let you know how that deity's portfolio translates to Amia. Then just find a god/goddess that fits that portfolio in so much as domains go and poof.... you're good to go.

My bad. You are right. For some reason I always place demons second to devils. <.<

Would it be hijacking the topic if I asked if it's able to get followers to follow a PC and with enough support gain demi-god-hood?

I recommend you look into how divine ranks work a bit more.

Besides that, I think it should be obvious enough we're not going to let people play demigod characters.

I didn't imagine you would, I just recall someone mentioning that was one way to gain some level of it and I wanted a lil' bit of clarification.

You also need AO's direct permission and some sort of portfolio to take over that isn't already proscribed to another deity. Thereotically it is possible with 'a few hundred to a few thousand' worshippers, along with the above.

Just not on Amia.

Cheers for the clarification, knew it wasn't entirely farce, was just curious for curiousity sake.

You're welcome to try! It could be interesting to see a bunch of PC's extolling some bizzare godly character.
