Feonir strode the halls of the academy slowly, taking his time of things, as was befitting someone entirely arrogant and uninterested in their surroundings. Students, were there any actually around, would probably not know the fellow who wandered every so often down the hallways.

Most faculty was quick to ignore the fellow as well or were simply too busy in their teachings to take notice and that was fine and peachy too. The elf was an aberration in a school absolutely filled to the eyeballs with aberrations.

"This whole place is stupid." He said with a soft sneer, the shadow behind him warbling in the supernaturally odd dulcet tones. "Wrble fttthznt shist fmeep?" Feonir couldn't recall when his shade had gone from a shade, to be summoned and thrown to the grinder, to a life long companion but he was sure it was sometime after one of his many, MANY, cranial wounds.

"No it is, you see, because the rules are so goddamn arbitrary. How can you of all things not see this? We were all fools. Here I will show you!" The elf sauntered into a class room as the shade looked on impassively to those who couldn't read the minute motions. Holding a young elf by the strap of her rucksack Feonir marched the bewildered young woman into the hallway.

"What is your name miss?" He asked, crossing his arms looking the scrap of an elf over. "Lan'ae..." she offered after a few moments, considering her teacher wasnt running out after her she had to assume this fellow was legitimate. If not looking anything of the sort, at all, ever.

"Alright lannie-" "Lan'ae" she corrected. "Whatever. The point is Lanister that I have a question for you. Your learning to dance and prance and do all that silly bullshit what they teach here yes? No words required just nod or shake your head." A nod was given at the oddly short ranting fellow with clothes that looked fresh from the grave of a long buried hobo. "In your studies have you ever felt..afraid? Worried about your well being or sanity Lancaster?" A shaken head this time the young elves eyes glancing to the looming shade behind the fellow as if for support.

The shade simply shrugged, crossing its talon'y hands over one another. "Nobody's attacked you? Nobody has forced you to learn under pain of death or any such behavior?" Another head shake the elf opening her mouth to speak which was silenced by the exhasperated grunt and exaggerated motion of hands being thrown on high. A suitable sulky stomp making Feonir's footsteps the shadow warbling after him. "Wurble wubale fnrmeth meep foop?"

"No, no, no, No, NO!" He half-sighed, half-yelled. Whirling about to point at both of the people he had stalked away from. "NO! This is all wrong! We aren't teaching them to knit, or to cook, we are teaching them a skill which on average will get them killed! Those are the lucky ones who don't mutate from being in this place too long. We treat them like children is it any wonder half of them act it? They lack fear, they lack the utter fear they should be feeling at every single moment of every single day."

Somehow in the moments of the rant the elf had tottered forward to extend an admonishing finger to the pair, the stunned elf-ling girl and the nonplussed shade towering over her. Both sparing a glance at one another as he ranted onwards.

"She didn't need coddling, I didn't hold HER hand! Hell she STABBED ME. That is what we do, we stab our mentors! right in their stupid faces! We DON'T thank them. She was my best damn student ever hells the best ever in general and it wasn't enough! This thing we do it isn't an art, its a goddamn skill, a curse, one of which the rules for arbitrarily change as does our world....and...and.." He sighed, wiping a hand down his face, feeling the veins of his temples throbbing. The elven girl darting back into class as the diatribe had died down.

"Frlrble?" The shadow crooned, leaning on the wall with arms crossed still.

"No. I have a wife, I don't do that anymore."

A long pause with relative silence, save for those who bothered to look at the odd elf having his breakdown. "Yrble?"

"Yeah, could do. Maybe... maybe someone would." A hand was punched into another, a gleam forming in that elves emerald eyes. Nodding slightly.

"Jrkble pfrhble." A slender finger of darkness pointing in accusation at him.

"Yeah, hells yeah she IS going to be pissed, or lonely, I better go visit. I can do this thing there anyway." Running a gloved hand through his hair he whirled about, stalking from the academy much to probably most peoples delight and relief.

The trip to the shrine was an uneventful one to his dismay. He almost missed the days of folks being batshit crazy AND aggressive not just crazy. Almost missed those days of battling beholders in Cordor. Gods seducing mortals around every corner making their bags and bags of children who would go on to display every complex imaginable and make for really hilarious familial and personal drama.

Then again not having a legion of half-dragon, half-human, half-hin, half-elf, half-vampire ancient Lich Dracothings wandering about to contend with wasn't in itself so bad either. Finally it was decided the lack of such people with their blood lines so twisted as to resemble a tumbleweed that had been lost in a tornado for a tenday was quite preferable. Each step of the trip was accented by a merry song, or a horrible ear shredding dirge of wailing warbles depending on ones vantage of a shadow "singing".

The elf more or less sneaked into his wives room, mainly due to the soul inspiring fear of his inlaws. With blank book, quill, ink-pot and a healthy dose of mind altering substances required for any proper writing endeavor at hand he set to work as his friend melded into nothingness with a parting and very poignant piece of advice given, those words alone making him scribble madly into the damned book. Those words of course being.

"Yrble."

The first words being read aloud as he wrote. "Chapter one. How I learned to Shadow Dance and why we are horrible people for doing so. Oh and there is probably an ancient horrible curse upon the city I never told anyone about cause I maybe kinda forgot. Well maybe not a curse more of a horrible bargain with an unspeakable horror and you know what never mind not important I don't think. Or maybe it is. Who knows?" He looked at the title for a moment and made some corrections with a few slashed lines here and there.

"There. It was too verbose anyway." He said to himself with a nod continuing his writing long into the night.

There's definitely one person who takes offense to Feonir manhandling the students. The next time he should wander within the Academy halls...

A female tiefling, all curves and tight leather, red hair and abyssfire, stalks out of one of the rooms.

"Ye wanna be puttin' yer hands on folk, ye best have a note from Brandrik, or ye can get the holy hells outta our halls, ye fuckin' sot."

Nelene flashes her instructor badge right before resting her hands on the hilts of her kukri and baring fangs that gently dimple a full, pouting lower lip. "An' his office be right where we're headin', aye?"
